prophetik music Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 kinda like a LAN bag, but just for the monitor. i've got a 17" and i'm getting a 22", and i think it's high time to have a way to transport them that doesn't involve a comforter from my bed. any ideas? google's never found me anything for this. zircon Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Moved to Help & Newbies, simply because this isn't really a ReMixing question per se... monitors are more general computer tech help. Quote
kitty Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I'm assuming you have a car... What I did was put the monitor on a seat with the screen facing the backrest of the seat. Then I put a seatbelt around it like it was a little kid. Put a towel around it too if you want. My monitor has been in pristine condition since the day I got it. Quote
OverCoat Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Falchion's is the best method, sans having the original box with the big styrofoam bits in it. A big towel or a light blanket is good if you're feeling extra paranoid. I had to do that with my new TV since I got the floor model [lol] Quote
prophetik music Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 well, my computer gets one seat, and my monitors generally get the other ones in my car. however, i'm looking for an actual strap to carry them around. i know they exist, they were all over magfest's LAN room last year. i just don't know where anyone got them. to tell the truth, i wouldn't mind a nice strap for my computer, too - the one i've got is a little old and worn. Quote
Kanthos Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Could you find out who was in charge of the LAN room and ask them what they used and where it came from? Quote
prophetik music Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 that was two years ago, unfortunately. Quote
prophetik music Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 this is an uber-old topic, but it's still relevent. does anyone know ways to transport lcd monitors that doesn't involve a towel or comforters? i'm not looking for a method, but a strap or something i can purchase. Quote
phill Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 were you looking for something like this? http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/SearchDetail.asp?productID=12074&return=12075&core_cross=SEARCH_DETAIL_COMPARISON Quote
prophetik music Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 much better response than i've gotten so far. thanks, man! Quote
phill Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Took a couple of minutes of googling different combination's of words before anything other then heavy duty cases and monitor/case combos came up. Really doesn't look like there is much more out there then that. There is always your mom, assuming she can do that sort of thing Quote
prophetik music Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 yeah, she's not likely to make anything worth the time of using =) i dug around a lot when i originally posted, but i was looking under the terms 'bag' and 'case', not harness. Quote
phill Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 This one came up under lcd carrying case I believe Quote
SenPi Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 Personally I just use the boxes they came in. Still have all the styrofoam and whatnot, plus the boxes themselves have a carrying handle Quote
prophetik music Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 the boxes themselves are bulky, though, when you get to 22" monitors. Quote
SenPi Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 well mine are 21.6" LCD monitors. The boxes arent all that much bigger than the monitor itself which makes them nice carrying cases Quote
kitty Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 For my new 24" monitor I just use the box as well. But it gets to be a hassle because it's so damn big. If it wasn't so fricking tall it'd be perfect. But I also don't want to be paying $40+ for a case when I can just use a cardboard box with styrofoam. Quote
phill Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 The more I think about it, the more I think I could use a pair of these. I tossed out the boxes a while back and although I don't move the LCDs to often, some sort of carrying case could come in handy. Since I'm student poor at the moment, I may just hunt down a large piece of cardboard and some thin foam and make something out of that. Quote
