Kyro Posted July 10, 2008 Share Posted July 10, 2008 Hey Guys, First of I'm a game developer, and I was just wondering what the implications are for me if I find a few of the Remixes that I would like to use in one of the games I make. I would like to know who's permission I need. Is it both the original developer/publisher and the remixer? or just the remixer due to the remix being significantly different? Please dont me. Zephyr Posted July 11, 2008 Share Posted July 11, 2008 It's a little risky in being that the remixes are based on a commercial product, but what are you planning to do with the game, if it's flash/freeware, then I doubt anyone would care (obviously talk to the remixer and credit them) but if you're planning on selling it, then this probably is a good way to get sued. You could ask them to work on your soundtrack (provided that you pay them, seeing as you plan to make money off of the game.) Do not use remixes for a game made with the intent of being sold. TheHands Posted July 18, 2008 Share Posted July 18, 2008 Doesn't seem very professional to use remixes from other video games in a game you plan to sell, unless it's a parody and you'd have the permissions of all parties (including the original writers, remixers, and parent companies for each game franchise).
