RoadiePC Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Hey guys, I'm still a pretty solid lurker, but I felt that this was worth sharing. Really, I wanted to get the opinions of the more musically-inclined people here: http://www.SymphonyOfScience.com I apologize if this is old; I searched the forums and didn't find anything matching it. Either way, it's pretty wild--taking Quotes from Richard Feyman, Stephen Hawking, Bill Nye, etc, and running them through a vocoder(I think), and making some pretty mellow tunes with some awesome messages intertwined within. I have no affiliation with the guy(s) who put this together, I just wanted to see what others here think. I'm impressed with it. Check out "A Still More Glorious Dawn Awaits." Quote
Meteo Xavier Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I kinda thought it was something else for a minute, but yeah, someone's got some awesome sound manipulation skills. Man, I can't imagine myself taking all those vocal samples and turning/tuning them into melodies. Cool man, thanks for sharing. Quote
Nonamer Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Bumping this. I've heard this guy A LOT on Nerdy Show, and I have to say, he's my new favorite nerd musician (sorry guys). He's also made me want to read the Cosmos book by Carl Sagan that my father gave to me when I was a kid. Here's his most recent video: Still my favorite: Quote
Geoffrey Taucer Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Sick huge Symphony of Science fan here. Quote
Nonamer Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I cannot stop watching this... (based on Richard Dawkin's book by the same name) Quote
Ryan Jobson Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I am also a big fan of Symphony of Science. This may not be known by many people, but this guy also has another website for a side project under the name Colorpulse. Check it out http://colorpulsemusic.com/ Cheers ~Syllix Quote
prophetik music Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Sick huge Symphony of Science fan here. same. #4 is one of my favorites. Quote
Sengin Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Because of Symphony of Science I watched Cosmos by Carl Sagan. On a side note, if you HAVEN'T seen cosmos, it's free to watch on hulu: www.hulu.com/cosmos Symphony of Science is amazing. The more people that know about it the better! Quote
Nonamer Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 New Symphony of Science video on climate change: http://youtu.be/HHP9Rh-ooh0 On a side note, melodysheep said in one of his videos that the only reason he doesn't use Carl Sagan anymore is that his wife has asked for him to stop using him in his videos. Although I believe that if Sagan were alive today, that he would wholeheartedly allow him to use his materials for the sake of promoting science. Quote
BardicKnowledge Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 My favorite one is "Garden of your Mind" featuring Fred Rogers. Who do kids today watch now that Nye, Child, Rogers, Sagan, and others representing the best of our culture and science are either retired or no longer with us? Quote

If Sagan's family asked melodysheep not to use Sagan's material in his videos, they're idiots. Symphony of Science is the absolute embodiment of everything Sagan stood for: bringing a love of science to the masses. It is because of SoS that I became a fan of Sagan and of Cosmology in general. Geoffrey Taucer Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Apparently the rumors that Sagan's family asked melodysheep not to use Sagan's material are false. His son, Nick, gave the series an enthusiastic endorsement Quote
Sengin Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 VERY glad to hear that! I hope that he uses more from him in the next ones now. I saw a video of someone going to Carl Sagan's grave and playing A Glorious Dawn on their phone - I kind of want to do the same. Quote
Ryan Jobson Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 That post was from 2009... but hopefully the rumors are in fact false. Quote
