lazygecko
http://www.mediafire.com/?yczyonyudnj So far the title screen, intro, item room, and both Brinstar areas are done. I don't plan on covering every single song in the game.
AMT
Ok, this is pretty dang awesome, cover art included. No real critiques given the nature of the work, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it!
Theophany
I love the Super Metroid soundtrack in any incarnation it takes, but this is gorgeous. And a really clever idea, in my opinion. I want you to do every track in the game. Anyone reading this should post how much they agree and put pressure on Yamori to do the whole soundtrack You can't say no to ten thousand of us!! Just kidding... awesome work, man. Thanks for posting this, I'm definitely checking back for updates.
Ralphis
I don't even care for Super Metroid, but I love this sort of stuff. I always held a fondness for the Genesis fm synth that I just never felt for the SNES' music. Long live the fm synth!
lazygecko
I thought Super Metroid would be an interesting pick since it would be pretty challenging to translate properly into FM synthesis. I think so far some aspects sound better and some worse than the original. For one, the SNES version suffers from a severe case of the "muffled" sound from that stupid filter/interpolation going on, so with FM the sound gets more brilliance. On the other hand, Super Metroid has some great eerie choir samples that make up a lot of the atmosphere. I just figured out a great trick to get good choirs out of FM though. It takes 2 slightly modified patches complementing eachother, but that also swallows 2 channels. I will update Brinstar 2 with better choirs later. lazygecko
I figure I'm done with this now. Got enough material done to fill a 9-minute YouTube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFMsrHCFXj0
Spakku
Of all the boss themes you had to pick from. Seriously? "Plant Boss"?
Theophany
Of all the boss themes you had to pick from.Seriously? "Plant Boss"? Spore Spawn, bro. And it's an awesome track
Cyril the Wolf
Wow. Great stuff! I mean... hell, it sounds like a pro sound designer for Sega would have done it.
Spakku
Spore Spawn, bro. And it's an awesome track I'm just calling it what he did. And it is the least awesome of the Super Metroid Boss music.
AMT
I'm just calling it what he did. And it is the least awesome of the Super Metroid Boss music. It's true, but that's only because of how awesome the other tracks are, not because the Spore Spawn track is lame.
