AngelCityOutlaw Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Didn't see a thread on this, which surprises me, but I thought the new Tomb Raider looks like it will be awesome. Discuss. Quote
Hyperion5182 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 We've seen reboots, we've seen downloadables. Not sure what's going to happen here. If this is going to be a Triple-A title which it does look like by the trailer we can only hope the gameplay is good. The story looks compelling but this is a wait and see game. Quote
AngelCityOutlaw Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Man, no one's interested in Tomb Raider? Where's the love for Lara!? Quote
DarkeSword Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I think it looks fantastic. I'll be grabbing it on PC. Quote
AngelCityOutlaw Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 I think it looks fantastic. I'll be grabbing it on PC. I'll get it on Xbox lol. My computer's processor is usually just a tad too slow to run the newer games. Makes me depressed when I'm 0.5 ghz short. Still the graphics made me go 0.o Quote
JerryTerry Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Odd coincidence that this thread should appear just as I dusted off Tomb Raider 3 for the first time in years. As long as they bring back the Mansion free roam-ish mode, I'm in. Surely as a reboot they're trying to recapture the best aspects of the classic TRs (granted, whilst also modernising it), and the most satisfying Tomb Raider moment was undisputedly locking a strange, groaning man in a freezer by backflipping over his head. Amirite? Seriously though, the mansion part was always my favourite. It's a shame they removed it in the later games. Quote

I saw that E3 trailer just as I was dusting off TR 2 lol I don't know, the mansion was cool yeah....but it didn't really add anything to the game itself. If I recall correctly, it was more just a tutorial/training ground. Since this is supposed to be Lara's first adventure and she gets ship-wrecked, I just have my doubts about the mansion free-roam making an appearance. The only thing I hated about the original PS1 games, was that the most difficult aspect of the game was controlling Lara. I guess I can live without the mansion. Quote
Jamphibious Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Yeah the mansion seems like it would be absent in this game. Considering in the games where she has the mansion, its full of trinkets and stuff that she has collected over the years. This being her first adventure, I doubt she would have the fortune built up to afford a mansion. Free roam condo maybe? Quote

AngelCityOutlaw Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 A cool behind the scenes video about the making of the E3 trailer! The composer directed the violinist via skype! That's awesome. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/07/06/behind-the-scenes-of-the-tomb-raider-trailer.aspx Quote
