The_Mighty_KELP
I never played the game as a kid, but I discovered the song when I was searching YouTube for classic VGM I hadn't heard before... and BOY did I hit the jackpot. This song is incredibly good. I can hear a ton of different ways in my head to remix it, too... I think Willrock or zircon could do great stuff with it, but OA and Sixto come to mind as well... Rexy
Yes, yes and YES. Of all C64 tracks I've heard around here, Monty on the Run tends to stick in my head a lot more than most - surely someone around OCR would give it some love? In the meantime, here's a cover from the Grospixels to tide you over
EC2151
Rob Hubbard is the English king of VGM as far as I'm concerned. The old greats (Hubbard, Follin, Daglish, Tel, Dunn, and many others) are people that need a lot more love on this site.
Gario
God, I knew I recognized it - someone mentioned that it was in the castle section of I Wanna Be The Guy. I agree, it is pretty badass. EDIT: Just found on a quick search. There is at least one awesome arrangement of this theme out there.
KyleJCrb
What, none of these are good enough for you? Also: http://kngi.org/private/miscstuff/montyontherun/ ('Apex Ultima' is a C64 medley. Monty on the Run appears at about 2:47)
The_Mighty_KELP
Hey, thanks for the links to other mixes! No, I wasn't aware of any those other arrangements. It sure would be nice if someone from OCR could do one as well...
KyleJCrb
But Gibs, Makke, Chris Abbott, and Boz are OCReMixers...
Eino Keskitalo
I can hear a ton of different ways in my head to remix it, too... Hear hear! There's lot of material in the piece. My favourite bit is the chords/riff that first play at 0:11. Personally I'm a bigger fan of the though. (:--Eino
