dummy
Just a little orchestration/remix of Orange Ocean from Kirby's Adventure. It's one of the ones that I went a little further from the source as there's not much to the original. It's short (though the source material is less than 30 seconds long) but I consider it finished. | SoundCloudAny comments on realism, what works and what doesn't are welcome. I'm really happy with how the middle part turned out 30 seconds on. The Oboe I wasn't so happy with but really realistic woodwinds are still tough to do. I think I played it a bit too safe so it's a little dull.
Patrick Burns
holy cow. pretty top notch orchestral sequencing you've got there. the legato strings in the B section are drop dead gorgeous. really the only thing I can contribute is praise, cause I don't know how to orchestrate this well. I think the judges would probably ask for more arrangement though (if submitting is your thing)
Elder Kirby
Yes! This is wonderful. I've been thinking about remixing orange ocean, actually. Similar to what Patrick said, just add length and more arrangement to the song and you'll be good
dummy
Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed the piece! Glad to hear the strings sound great as I think string writing has been one of my weaknesses in the past. It's one of the things I've been practicing at, so I'm happy to hear it's paying off. I have no plans to submit it or anything, but I might take a look at extending it a little when I have some spare time.
Skolar
I think I played it a bit too safe so it's a little dull. I think by "dull" you mean "amazing". It does come across as a reserved, calm arrangement, but there's 0% wrong with it. It put me in mind of a big, majestic map view. Kirby sits on his idling warp star, patiently waiting for the player to choose what location in the sprawling high-definition Orange Ocean they wish to go to. Now excuse me, I'm going to go listen to this again about 5,000 times.
Spi.der.men
How long did this take you? It sounds amazing! Orchestration is way out of my league so I can't really give a critique on this...
dummy
Thanks guys, really appreciate the kind words. It was roughly two hours work, Spi.der.men. An hour and half orchestrating/creating the music and then half hour on the graphics/video/uploading/etc.
Argle
Damn, you're fast. You've really got this orchestration thing down.
