Liontamer ⚖️ Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I asked for Garoad to submit this after Cryamore's Twitter included us in a tweet about it. Since Cryamore's set to drop soon, I wanted to have this on deck, if it passes. - LT Contact Information: Remixer Name: Garoad Real Name: Michael Kelly Submission Information: Game Arranged: Cryamore Name of Arrangement: 'A True Pioneer' Name of Song Arranged: CRYAMORE! (Main Theme) Original Composer - Aivi Tran Hi, everyone! First, let me give a big thanks to Aivi for giving me permission to do an arrangement of her wonderful track (which you can find here: ). Cryamore is a game currently in development that I'm very excited about. If you haven't already, PLEASE make sure to check it out! Blog: http://cryamore.tumblr.com This was a great learning experience that I hope somewhat flatters the original. I hope you enjoy! Thanks again for the opportunity. I'm eager to see what the judges think!
Liontamer ⚖️ Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 Awesome; after requesting a submission of this last night, I'm very glad Michael was down to submit this! Thanks again to the Cryamore Twitter for putting this in my sights. Onto the observations and crits, the snare drum felt too placeholder-ish in the long run, but it had a good tone to it and it wasn't a big deal in the big picture. Great change in the dynamics at 1:07. It's a not a criticism, but I definitely could have gone for that section lasting longer than 1:29, as it sounded sweet. 1:51's section being a copy-pasta of :24's was a letdown, as there was the chance to provide some subtle variation for the close, rather than waiting until 2:14 for the finish. If the arrangement weren't so on point otherwise with the level of interpretation and the production quality wasn't so solid, it could be more bothersome. The energy and personalization in this arrangement is rockin'. The drums being less on auto-pilot, and some further variation for the second verse at 1:51 would enhance this, but in weighing what work vs. what could be criticized, it's clear to me way more of this works. Like I said on YouTube from the OCR account, this really feels like something you could hear from an official arrange album. The music Aivi's released so far sounds amazing, and this was a sweet take on it, Michael. YES
Liontamer ⚖️ Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) source link is dead. The YouTube? Works for me still. The source is also streamable at https://soundcloud.com/waltzforluma/cryamore EDIT: Ah, in the sub letter, the YouTube link was cut off, but mine at the very bottom was fine. I corrected the link in the sub letter. Edited March 1, 2013 by Liontamer
Vig Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 What I really like about this mix is that you seamlessly transition to and from several different sonic landscapes. This really keeps it interesting. On the downside, the track is quite short and doesn't necessarily develop as well as it could. The mixing is solid. All in all, a pretty tight if straightforward mix. YES
DragonAvenger Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Very cute! Sounds like a title track to a game, where they show you different little anime scenes of the main characters doing silly things Your track has a lot of character, both in how it approaches the source and how you have lots of variation in the sounds. I agree that the track is a bit on the short side, but it felt whole and complete. Mixing is solid, and all the parts are clean. I would like to hear more from you, for sure! YES
Palpable Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 I wish the drums weren't so straightforward, but there's little else to complain about. Great balance, good composition. I think it could have used a little more to it - it feels like it does its thing and stops - but who can complain about a fully-formed arrangement? YES
DarkeSword 🎮 Posted Wednesday at 01:35 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:35 AM I'm calling it on this one. 12 years later and Cryamore is still not released, and there's no release on the horizon. With apologies to Garoad: we can't post this one. Aivi may have written a killer soundtrack but if that game doesn't exist, it's a no-go for OCR. NO Override
