The People's Remix Competition 320
PRCv13-08

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

PlanarianHugger submitted a bonus track in the last round. NinjaPenguinDan and Bundeslang participated, and of course NinjaPenguinDan was the winner. The selected source covers a game serie which only has been covered once before. It was back in PRC71 when legend Strike911 claimed victory, defeating 7 other participants. 8 Entries is a nice number, so let's try to do this again this time, or even better. The source was Zanzibar Theme from Metal Gear Solid

The song I've chosen is something, er, a little bit different from the previous one. After some random searching careful consideration, I've picked Yell "Dead Cell" from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Since it's something of a crazy source, it'll be interesting to see what directions you'll all take it.

@Esperado There are definitely some similarities, but it was actually Norihiko Hibino. Fun fact: he actually has a ReMix on this site. A long, looooong time ago (2015), he collaborated with Ayaki Saito (generally known as AYAKI) to ReMix 'Lake of Oblivion' from Monarch: Heroes of a New Age. Check it out.

Wow you know your OCR!

I didn't actually realize it until after I looked up the answer to your question, but thanks anyways! :P I only noticed because his Wikipedia article mentioned a jazz album he and someone else (presumably AYAKI) created, which was named "Gentle Love." By sheer coincidence, I had been listening to the ReMix in question a few minutes prior, and I remembered that the artist(s) went by "GENTLE LOVE." While I thought it extremely unlikely that they'd be related, I figured it was worth checking.

To vote, do the following:

  • Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries.
  • Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen.
  • Fill in the entries from first to second. Leave the third box empty. Do not vote for NinjaPenguinDan
  • State a reasoning for it.
  • Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they only have to fill in the first box. They get a free first place if they vote, so it is doesn't matter for the result. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments as well.
  • NinjaPenguinDan has a vote that counts twice, as last rounds winner
  • Always look in this thread to find out who's the winner of the round after the voting stage instead of only looking at ThaSauce for the results.

You have until THIS Friday, April 22nd 10:59 am ThaSauce time to vote. Check the ThaSauce page for the exact time you have.

The winner may choose the source tune for PRC321.

Check the ThaSauce Page to vote.

If anyone have issues voting via ThaSauce you can vote by sending me a PM at Ocremix.

Results Time

The results are as follows:

PlanarianHugger.jpgBonus.jpgNinjaPenguinDan did an awesome bonus mix.

Firstlastplace.jpgBundeslang.jpgChalis.jpg And the winner's of PRC320 are Bundeslang and Chalis with the maximum 6 points.

Nobody voted except Chalis and myself, so this means we tie for first place and both get the golden spoon. Hopefully the next round will have more participants and more voters. Chalis, you may select a source for the next round which starts as soon as possible after receiving the source. I will select a source myself as well, meaning that there will be two sources. The special two sources rule will apply, meaning that remixers who mix both sources in one song get a first place bonus. Both Chalis and Bundeslang may participate in that round as well.
Chalis, send your source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix).

Send your source as fast as you can, but before this Sunday (24 April), 10:59 AM ThaSauce time.

You may select any source for any game, but not a source with an OverClocked remix or a source which has been used in PRC before. An overview of the past PRC's can be found in the following links:

http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).

Check the ThaSauce Page for the results.
