The People's Remix Competition 383
PRCv15-19

Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

In PRC381 it was both TheVideoGamer and Dudley Ghost who got the win. The only one who did something musically against it was Normallyretro  but he was only allowed to submit a bonus song as PRC379 winner.

I received a source from Dudley Ghost but not from TheVideoGamer, you still can pick a source which will be used for this round or the next one depending on when I receive it.

To submit a song at the compo page you can use the ThaSauce page. If you use this, an account is required. If you don't want to use ThaSauce, please upload the song somewhere else and post a download link in this thread. I recommend Soundcloud, don't forget to allow downloads to enable me to upload the song at ThaSauce. I will keep using ThaSauce as the place where all songs are located.

If you want to use ThaSauce, the following steps should be done.

  • Click the ThaSauce Link.
  • Click the 'You are not logged in' button in the upper right.
  • Click on 'register' (at the bottom).
  • Read the terms and click 'I agree to these terms'. If you don't agree with them, upload the song somewhere else and post a download link as mentioned above (by doing that, you allow me to upload the song at ThaSauce.
  • Continue the process by filling in your information.
  • You will get a question to confirm that you're not a robot. Here are some possible answers:
  1. Name a compo: PRC
  2. Who organizes One Hour Compo: Starla
  3. Name a ThaSauce subdomain: compo.thasauce.net
  4. Who created Mega Mans: Capcom

A confirmation mail will be send. There might be some issues with it (meaning that you don't get it), if that is the case, upload the song somewhere else as described above.

Once registered, login with your username and password, go to the mentioned page and submit the song. If you want submit two or more songs you can create multiple ThaSauce accounts or upload the song somewhere else and post the download link.

After uploading your song, please check if your song plays and can be downloaded and played without problems. Only upload MP3 files.

 

PRC instructions

  • The deadline is Wednesday November 28th 2018 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread.
  • You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.
  • Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
  • Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
  • The winner of this round may select the source for PRC385, the round after next round.
  • The winner of PRC381, Dudley Ghost who picked this source, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage.

It's a good Castlevania game to start on.  Next, Imo, I'd recommend Castlevania 4, since that one is a bit more n00b friendly.  That said, I suck at most NES games plus they were a bit before my time.  But to each their own!! (edit) - oh you've played the DS ones!  I own 'em, but saving for a rainy day so to speak.  Got so many games on my backlog lmao...

To vote, do the following:

·       Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries.

·       Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen or click PM.

·       Fill in the entries from first to third in the ThaSauce form or fill in your top 3. 

·       State a reasoning for it.

·       Do not vote for Dudley Ghost, his track is a bonus mix.

·       Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, they get a free first place if they vote, so it's attractive to vote. Leave the third box empty or vote for Dudley Ghost. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments. 

·       Dudley Ghost has a vote that counts twice.

Results time

Dudley Ghost did a bonus mix.

The 3rd place and last place wooden spoon is for AxLR with 13 points.

The 2nd place is for Hoboka with 16 points

And the winner of PRC382 is Klaverkoopa with 19 points

Congrats everybody and good job to Mr. L. !

I'll add some details about your vote guys :

+ The Video Gamer : There are Hi hats and cymbals on this track but I didn't EQ my Kick, which I discovered much later while re-listening to it. And yes It's a bit repetitive. I tried not to but I'm no good at not repeating things, especially when I'm in my grounds.

+ Bundeslang : I DEFINITELY should have made this shorter. Even for me who crave for 10:00 repetitive techno I got bored on my remix when I re-listened to it.

And I'll develop some of mine.

+ Starting with Dudley Ghost's bonus entry. There is so much to say and this is a music genre I REALLY dig. So I'm a lot subjective when I say it but this is by far the strongest remix of the theme.

+ HoboKa: That had already been said, but I forgot to talk about your drums. A little bit more punch would have done great, But except that, this is a strong remix.

+ KlevarKoopa (Mr. L.), I didn't gave you my vote by pure subjectivity. MIDI music is a big pass for me and I do admit that this is a bit unfair. Both your remixes are strong, so when you have no other objective point to make a diference in your vote, You gotta take what you have. That said, while HoboKa was solid in terms of production, you clearly surpassed him in terms of creativity (Me too but it wasn't that hard :lol: ). You deserve your win and I can't wait to see what you'll pick for next round !

Thank you, and thanks for your critiques! Also, I don't think there's anything unfair about your criteria - I'm glad you liked it, though! Sorry I didn't have much to say about yours (or, really, anyone's mix), but I did enjoy what I heard (that's usually what I focus on first, with production second) - it took me back to old Castlevania days and was cleanly produced! :) Once again, I really enjoyed what I heard from you, and everyone this round! :D

With that said, I hope you'll all like this suggestion I'm submitting. :)
