Bundeslang
Frutty Loops Music Competition 5: Finally. VOTING STAGE. Voting Stage has begon. I used almost the same rules as previous FLMC's, but there are a little changes. Here's a little information about the contest: You can only use the stuff that comes with fruityloops, it's not obligated to give a FLP file, but if you submit a FLP file you get 3 bonus points in the voting stage (A nr. 1 vote). You may NOT use sytrus, wasp, soundfont player or anything else that must be purchased seperately. No extra plugins or samples. You may use the provided samples in the earlier contests, here are the samples provided by Prophecy in the earlier contest: http://bambombim.googlepages.com/FLMC4Pack.zip The source tune is: Mega Man 3 (All tunes). http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/nes/index-gr.html Go down and find Mega Man 3 http://bambombim.googlepages.com/MegaMan3Midi.zip or http://bambombim.googlepages.com/MegaMan3.zip (Some Files could be the same). The first zip contains all VGmusic MIDI's, the other one is a MIDI pack I have on my computer. And the NSF File: http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/songs/original/Mega%20Man%203%20(1990)(Bunbun%20-%20Capcom)(17%20Songs)%5BWith%20SFX%5D.nsf Welcome to the Voting Stage of FLMC5. Gollgagh
I think that people don't feel very obligated to work very hard if you give them a wide open theme, like in a previous FLMC that had "Sadness" as the theme. We might want to stick to a single source or theme like the previous contests. Since you've already suggested Megaman and Godzilla why don't we choose one of those soundtracks to work with? Bundeslang
The last contests had 30 MIDI's, and first I didn't want a source tune as well, but you are right. I leave Godzilla behind and say the source tune for this match is Mega Man 3. I don't want a difficult source tune because then it might be hard to mix a song. Source Tune: Mega Man 3. Good luck. Gollgagh
Don't forget that we have the .nsf as well: http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/songs/original/Mega%20Man%203%20(1990)(Bunbun%20-%20Capcom)(17%20Songs)%5BWith%20SFX%5D.nsf
Paladin
Sorry if these are obvious questions, but this is the first time I've come across this competition. Firstly, can we use samples (wavs) provided in the "packs" folder of FL Studio (and anything else in this folder)? Also, do we choose one source from the game to remix? Or do we have to incorporate every source tune in the game into our mix? Again, sorry if I'm asking obvious questions.
Gollgagh
Choose any number of tunes from MM3 as you wish, be it one or all of them. Although, trying to do all of them would be ridiculous, in my opinion. As for what you can use, you can use anything that comes default with fruity loops except for what Bundeslang listed. Just one of the tunes is allright, but you may do two, three or more. You may submit more than one entry as well.
Paladin
Sorry guys, but I'm strongly thinking about pulling out. I've just read through the FLMC4 thread. I just don't know if it's worth spending time on a mix if the competition is only going to get 3 votes or so. Not to mention that the last competition seemed to be poorly organised and generally badly managed. Granted, a different person is in charge of this competition, but I just can't seem to shake off the feeling that this competition is more hassle than it's worth. RocketSniper
Well this is pretty crappy. None of the players I've installed will play it - apparently the .nsf isn't in .nsf format.
DDRKirby(ISQ)
yeah FLMC isn't a really established compo, and to top it off, its been on shaky ground recently, so if you're not doing it just for the fun and challenge of making something good using FL defaults, you might not want to bother. It's working perfectly for me, and all I have installed is chipamp.

Bundeslang
I have set up a small site about the contest. http://bambombim.googlepages.com/flmc You can find the information given in the first post there. The songs will be hosted at this site as well. Great to see a competition forum, I was always hoping for it. Hope everyone find this new forum. Fun to see this coming up during my first contest. I will PM TO about information because I'm the runner of this competition at the moment. Thanks DJP.

Bundeslang
here goes...Top Man FTW! Great, I can't wait to check it out. In the meanwhile I have done a small song by myself. It is a remix from Gemini Man and there's a little from the Weapon Receive tune in it as well. It's here: http://bambombim.googlepages.com/flmc I'm not hoping to take first place with this. The UnMod OutKast
Say Bundeslang, can we get a list of all the people that are going to participate?
Gollgagh
He doesn't know. I'm gonna try something for crying out loud.
Bundeslang
He doesn't know.I'm gonna try something for crying out loud. I don't know and I can't know. Some users could have started something without posting it and also some users say they will participate and then something happends and they don't have any time left. I will see who are participating. The more, the better. There's still enough time to mix a song.

DDRKirby(ISQ)
My song's pretty much in some of the finalizing stages now--so it's pretty much done (though I might allow for some minor modification if people give me feedback i agree with). RocketSniper
Bump. I've gotten so used to some of my synths that it's hard to go back to 3xOSC... and my ears are hurting for it. So, yeah. I've got about 1:00 of acceptable sounding song. Question though, can we use stuff we've recorded ourselves, such as beatboxing or singing?
