nodspaw51 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Any way to create sequences other than using the piano roll? Thanks for your time! Quote
lazygecko Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I guess there's the step sequencer, which you will find severly limiting and tedious to work with. FL's piano roll is pretty much the best in the industry. Just take some time to learn it and composing will be like a second nature. Quote

I find the step sequencer to be good for drums though. Also, personally I dont like fl's piano roll, makes it way too hard to add in like 1 little drum randomly in the mix. Seeing as you have to make a whole new pattern just to add that 1 little kick or something. I like how it works, I just think it wasnt pulled off effectively. yea... Quote
Yoozer Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Or you could, you know, get a MIDI controller keyboard Quote

That would be the pattern system, and not the piano roll itself. Quote
zircon Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Actually, it's not an issue at all. You can just drag and drop the sample conveniently from the browser into the playlist at the desired point. You don't need to sequence anything. Quote
nodspaw51 Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 thanks for the help guys, i think i'll just stick to piano roll its tedious, but it works, so i was just curious to any other possibilities thanks for all the feedback! Quote

DDRKirby(ISQ) Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 If I could have Reason with FL's piano roll i would be a lot more inspired to try it out more. (I haven't tried sequencing stuff in FL and then exporting to midi to import into Reason. methinks maybe it's a bit too much trouble and doesn't really fit the workflow) Quote
