  1. Past hour
  2. Once that familiar fear factory motif came in around 1:20, I was boppin my head along. This remix is one of the better fear factory remixes I've heard, and I've heard a LOT. That hard crunchy bass doing that repeated quad riff was exquisite! Great job on this!
  3. The quiet section around 2 minutes in was very cool, that transition to the final chorus was baller stuff. There are a lot of cool creative decisions in this remix overall. Excellent production as well. Great job! :)
  4. This remix feels very nostalgic, and I never played the original game. This remix definitely does a good job of capturing that kind of "looking back" feeling. It is an absolutely fantastic remix, GREAT job on this!
  5. This piece of music was super cool. I am not familiar with the source or the lore of the characters, but I enjoyed the snazzy style and the fun put into the voicework. The instrumental portions of this remix were standouts of funky coolness.
  6. This remix certainly felt like a sanctuary of sorts! That interlude section in the middle that was only a couple of bright instruments was super slick! Very peaceful, very serene, and very cool.
  7. The intro certainly woke me up. That bass is remarkably cool and interesting. This remix had more than enough cool chips and bloops to keep things interesting and varied. Excellent job on this!
  8. That was an excellent version of "In a Snow-Bound Land." (My totally bias favorite section of the remix.). The soundscape for this is exactly was these ICY level tunes thrive in. Excellent arrangement on this one, Bravo!
  9. This remix is a whole vibe. I had some fun trying to follow and track some of the individual instruments. In particular, that bass and those guitars are going HAM. Overall this was an audio treat! Great job on this!
  10. This remix has a very nice groove to it. The production is tight and the sidechaining is OFF the chain! Very fitting that a source called "Sky Tower" would receive such a powerful uplifting remix!
  11. Firstly, that intro was sublime. Excellent vibe to start with. The part near the end with the synth lead was also really cool, and then ending with that lovely guitar was a great touch. Excellent job with this one!
  12. Wow those drums are going HAM on this one. That intro was super great, it gave a great context for the remix going forward. The last minute and half of the remix was my favorite part. :D. Good job on this!
  13. I can definitely see the blade runner influence here. Those heavy swirling pads got me feeling some kind of way that's for sure. This was surprisingly HEAVY and was definitely unconventional and cool!

  15. This is what I'd expect a Sakuraba cover of this song to sound like!
  16. This is the best. I don't even know this song but your arrangement/embellishment of it is enthralling. Fantastic job on emulating hardware, too.
  17. Feel free to edit the post to add sections/links.

  20. This is what a lofi remix is all about imo. It's soft and chill, but the main melody is strong and recognizable. This was a treat for the entire runtime, great job on this everyone who worked on it! :)
  21. This was super snazzy! Killer beat. I was definitely bopping my head along throughout.
  22. These resources aren't plug-ins: they're great reference tools! Brad the Mad's Tempo Calculator (Chart, lists given bpm subdivisions as ms and Hz; chart goes from 60 bpm to 179 bpm) Tuneform's Tempo Calculator (converts bpm to ms) MIDI CC List (Chart, lists common CC uses) Virtual Instrument Delay Chart (Google Sheet, lists delay offsets for most orchestral VST instruments; organized by instrument section, brand, library, and articulations). Use these as a starting point and adjust to your project as needed Tap Tempo (Webapp, click or tap a key in time with a piece of music to get its tempo) I was chatting in the Lounge on Discord with folks last night discussing the importance of tools like the tempo calculators: some time-based effects plug-ins (reverb and delay, but also the attack and release controls on compressors, limiters, gates, expanders, etc) have no tempo sync function. If you can convert the subdivision into ms or Hz, you can manually sync your plug-ins to your project tempo/tempi (plural of tempo). You can also use this chart to maintain a relative pulse while changing meters: in the example I gave from a project Seph and I are working on, there's an intro segment at 90 bpm, 4/4 time that evolves into a verse in 12/8 using the same structure as the intro. 12/8 is functionally equivalent to 4/4 with a triplet subdivision, but most DAWs only give tempo expressed in a quarter note bpm, so maintaining 90 bpm gives an incorrect pulse from the click. But if you check the chart, you can see that a quarter note at 90bpm equals 0.667 seconds (666.6 repeating ms, or 667 for simplicity's sake) and a quarter-note triplet equals 0.444 seconds (444.4 repeating ms). Scroll down the chart and you'll find 135 bpm has a quarter note value of 0.444 seconds and a dotted quarter note value of 0.667 seconds: for all intents and purposes, the quarter note value of 90 bpm equals the dotted quarter note value of 135 bpm!
  23. This was absolutely fantastic. It felt so honest and peaceful! That violin coming in was such a spicy move! This remix was simply brilliant, one of the better ones I've heard. (And I have been hearing a LOT recently.)

  25. I feel like that bass groove was doing its' best to embed itself into my cranium. Very nice remix, quite enjoyable to listen to! :)
  26. What a cool remix! I was really drawn to the bass in this remix for some reason, it's just really punchy and vibrant. The varied mix of instruments kept this remix nice and interesting. The production on this remix was top notch as well, excellent job!
  27. I'm going to quickly close this one out because I think the above three judges did a fantastic job expressing what works and doesn't work about this track. I love the studious approach to iterating a theme in as many different styles as possible, and keeping it cohesive along the way. But the orchestral programming needs a ton of polish to make it sound more like it was performed by an actual orchestra, rather than just a series of instruments being played off of a MIDI file. I will also add that there's some very massive dynamic jumps in terms of volume. Obviously, some degree of that is warranted, given the shifts in styles, but your quiet parts get REALLY quiet, and it doesn't sound intentional. You can still achieve this effect without requiring the listener to actively engage with the volume slider throughout the song in order to maintain a comfortable listening experience. This can start with normalizing the volume levels and automating them in certain parts, and can be further balanced out with some subtle compression on the master channel. There's so many great ideas here, but this feels like a draft rather than a polished production - I do hope we see this back someday! NO (resubmit!)
  28. Was not expecting the operatic symphonic metal vocals, but I am here for it. This whole production was very powerful and clearly had a lot of fun and passion thrown into it. Excellent job on this!
