  1. Hey all; just wanted to share some pretty cool news, for everyone here who didn't see the buzz on Facebook. This past Friday, my hometown of Syracuse held their annual "Syracuse Area Music Awards," also known as the SAMMYS. Local artists were celebrated per albums released during the previous year. Considering my remix project of American Pixels was launched last January, and I crafted it in Syracuse, I was nominated. I'm blessed to be able to announce that I actually won the award for "Best Electronica," and was able to use the platform to showcase the world of video game remixing (and game music in general) to a whole new audience! It was awesome to be honored where I grew up, but it was doubly cool to take game music to a place that typically focuses on rock, jazz, and folk, ya know? It was a fun night.

  2. Hey OCRemix, This is a remix of the Cipher Syndicate's theme from Pokemon Colosseum. This has been a project for a month on and off as a friend suggested that I should remix this track and see where it goes as we both love Pokemon Colosseum! I'm still very much a greenhorn when it comes to composition and production, and I'm still very happy with what I made and can't wait for people to listen to it. I eventually want to be able to have remix up on OCR and would like feedback in terms of what I could do better on this remix, and others that will come after. I hope I can at least make someone's day with my music. Here is the source: .Here is my take on it. Thank you for listening to a newbie's remix.

  3. I started a remix of the Minish Village in a bluesier form. A little liberal in comparison to the original. Source: ReMix: Somebody Stole My Jabber Nuts

  4. Thanks. Sometimes, especially for beginners, its easy to get fascinated with your power as an arranger to drastically alter a song. With that song and others I tried to expand more than transform. The sky is still the limit, but you really do want that seed of recognizability, which is why the community exists to begin with. But it takes good sensibilities to pull off that expansion subtly, without the end product sounding like a stitched together frankenstein. (Looking back, I think that Happy Towns mix qualifies as frankenstein with good makeup.) That's actually one of the great things about your arrangement. The newer material feels like it belongs.
