  1. A 4CD Set! That's pretty cool. Just to let you know, my remix will be of considerable length as well. The form is looking to work out to at least 7 minutes right now, and will probably get longer. Something tells me XMark's Sylphis mix will be pretty long too. It's gonna be a loooong album.
  2. I'll definitely help anyone out with their arrangments and anything else they might be wondering about. Just ask and I'll see if I can help!
  3. All the tracks would be pretty scary. XD
  4. *British Mode* Bloody brilliant, I say! That's a great idea. I love you. XD The system will really keep the management simple and clean. The part about "if you can't do the track, it will be removed entirely". Very efficient!
  5. Nice post. Actually, today I was thinking about you and this project because I was listening to your remix of "Be Absentminded" and was hoping the version that ends up on this project would be as good. I was a little dismayed at the exclusion of certain especially good tracks too, and wasn't absolutely certain why there was a limit. Sure, we already have a lot of songs, but I don't doubt that even more remixers could readily be managed by two coordinators as attentive to the thread's developments as Kyle and Lea. I think the freedom that MP3 and Torrent distribution offers should be embraced. I mean, we don't have to consider how best to fill up the space on a little 700MB CD. There are certainly enough capable musicians to cover many songs, and there may even be people who are refraining from signing up because their favorite piece from one of the games is not on the tracklisting. Of course, I didn't think myself to be in any position to challenge the boundaries of a project I didn't put any effort into organizing, though suggestions can never be a bad thing. Kyle and Lea selected tracks that made for a well-balanced album. One of them said something to the effect of, "Maybe this project will inspire new remixes of songs from the games that aren't on this project." That's true. I've already decided to make one that I will send into OCR independantly of this project, but I would prefer that my efforts go towards improving this already ambitious project. Imagine that, quality remixes of all those excellent songs. I say, if there are people who are willing to put a lot of effort and time into working on songs to augment this project instead of their own personal OCR profiles, maybe a few rules should be broken? PS: Definitely do not release anything in full before the project is done! That's so boring. You completely miss out on the feeling of having the torrent finish downloading and diving into the entire project, like buying a new album from your favorite band, eager to hear all the great stuff to come.
  6. Nice beetz! Good luck to both you and Rubbler in your mixes.
  7. Same project? Right... does that mean there's no remix war? On the tracklisting it says Luiza Carvalho is looking for a collab partner for Fatalize. Does anyone know what kind of help he's looking for, exactly? Composition partner, recording, etc.?
  8. You and your crazy, irrational schemes...
  9. What!? How dare you! I'll show you, you 3D-loving scum!
  10. *Much hand waving ensues, points towards stack of other games* These are NOT the remixes you're looking for...
  11. Listen to the SPCs! Excellent old game music, prime for remixing! (Now the site looks like a copy of Sim City got lost and exploded in there.)
  12. You should see Wingless' site. XD The whole thing is horizontal, albeit pretty cool looking.
  13. Hey, no fair! I totally wasn't thinking of progressive rock! Prizm, since you're here, I have to say; lovely work on the Xenosaga mix. I've been waiting for someone to submit one. I especially love the creepiness, it's like something Dir en Grey would do. This project is really going to be great, huh? ^-^
  14. Rock without guitars? How daring! It'll be interesting to see your first WIP!
  15. I enjoyed his mix of Presea's theme! Glad to have you on the project, Nick. I was thinking of having a clip of my WIP posted in the thread, just as a small indication of the project's progress. I don't have any stable form of webhosting though, so if anyone has a solution for that feel free to contact me. EDIT: Thanks Kyle! - Forest of the Treant WIP -
  16. Er... well, I like that small bit of melody in the Boss song. I could remix it, but I don't really know how long I could make it given the 28 second source material. I suppose I could make a smallish interlude track out of it. I haven't read the whole thread though, so I don't know if anybody else besides Blue Magic was already doing this. Maybe I'll just cook up something and send it in.
  17. Thanks. I'll try to keep it between those 2 notes. Side note: that's about my range, too. I know, disproportionally high for a guy. Can go lower than F2 though. Yay for baritones. Anyway, I've found 1 thing about Hydropolis... It's a town with water. (As if the name didn't give that away...) But please, I need more information for my lyrics to make sense. They'll have to at least connect a BIT to the game. Play the game! It really rocks! Come ooooon! Hydropolis isn't too far in, anyway. I'd tell you more about it but it's been a while since I played through it. I'm trying to find the time to do it now, but I'm only at that first mountain pass.
  18. Rexy, I read that review for Boy Aims for Other Boys at VGMix, so I know you haven't played Secret of Mana. In this state, you have no right to be using time making forum posts when there's such a big, gaping hole in your life. (Oh yeah, and I can't wait to hear how cool you make Fighting of the Spirit.) For the WIPs... I'm sort of the "complete and unveil" type of creator, rather than the, "piece-by-piece" kind. If Kyle wants to post some preview tracks on the front page, though, I wouldn't mind. I'm really tempted to take up another song. There's one I have my eye on that's already claimed, but I don't want to make any enemies by challenging him/her. XD
  19. Tell them, "You know how many chromaticisms like that Chopin made?"
  20. Wow! I'm not easy to impress, and those look reeeeaaallly nice. The title is catchy and fits extremely well, the image is beautiful and flowing and professional... thanks, Lea! Excellent work! I will re-double my efforts! (Kyle, I sent the email to you, but I forgot to encode the file to something smaller than a wave. Sorry! XD) EDIT: What's it mean if there's a star next to your name in the track listing?
  21. I find it extremely unfair that Mr.Norman makes one bloody song with a simple chromatic pattern ascending and descending and now it's like the "James Bond" thing. No fair! I say, "Nevermind James Bond! Just enjoy the music!" My favorite part is from 0:20 - 0:40 when the new string part and the piano comes in. (I'm a huge connoisseur of the Bond movies from the 60's to 90's, don't get me wrong. XD)
  22. Very bouncy! Hope to hear more soon! Hm... it'd be cool if you surprised everyone in the second minute by drastically changing the key all of the sudden and diving into a dramatic and intense piano solo like in Rachmaninov's 2nd Concerto.
  23. Thank you. Anyway, the track order is more or less tenative at the moment - it most likely will be changed around if people were planning to have tracks lead into others, or if we end up arranging the order based on the way the songs themselves turn out gerne/themewise (dunno about Final Act being a last track, though, despite the name - it's overworld music). As for excluding certain songs... sadly, that was inevitable. We spent a while finalizing the song list, and unfortunately we had to exclude some good tracks - we've already got close to forty songs. As I've said, though, hopefully this will inspire more remixers to work on Tales music. Thanks for confirming that the song list is really final, you know, just so people like myself won't ask if there was a tragic song oversight anymore. XD I might even remix Ymir outside the project before it's released as a sort of pre-promotion.
  24. Ah, crap. My ten+ years of study in composition, theory, and orchestration... it was all for nothing. Kyle, I noticed that Martel is the last song on the ToP album. Now, I'm not questioning your authority or anything (XD), but it's really a very short song and could prove difficult to shape into a worthwhile "credits" song. Meanwhile, Lake on Ymir is certainly one of the best songs in the soundtrack, is very remixable, and isn't on the tracklist. Of course, I don't think you should do anything you don't want to, but... ooo, I love Ymir.
