First of all, I feel that if a project already covered a song, then why bother remixing it again. They covered it, so it is theirs. Going by that notion, all of the remixes of Schala's Theme except for the first one should be taken off of OCR. Who cares if the same theme repeats itself in another project? The more the better, I say. And on that note: How about Mithos from Tales of Symphonia? Yeah, Magus and Lavos should definitely both be on the chopping block for this project. Have at 'em. BTW, if I remember correctly, don't you fight Terra in FF3/6 in her Esper form once? If so... terramixlol ~.C.S.~ Shoot. i picked magus, but the page isn't updated... And Claado i know your'e screaming "WHY WERENT YOU ON CHRONO SYMPHONIC!?!?" INDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. Did you get the money? Yes. (yeah thread hijacked)

I honestly doubt that will stop n00bs from making Ice Cap remixes. Heck I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the 2 mixes aren't the same thing, there's not really anything wrong with it. And it's really hard to say "Hey thats MINE i already DID that!". There's probably already mixes of most of these on OCR too, as well as with many other songs that were in projects. And thank god no "I CHUSE ISECAP" cause it's not a boss.

LOL. I hope that's not true, cause it would suck...i just think it's cool that it's finally done after so long. It seemed like it would never get released. -

Hell yes. Man, even I am excited about the release. Hurry up snapple lol. -
I'd be willing to help out with anything if needed also. I usually spend a good amount of time on this board not doing much of anything, so I would gladly use some of that tome for this. And I might not choose a Robotnik boss theme even though i'm a Sonic fan. I've remixed a lot of Sonic tracks already. Too early to tell anything though...

Yeah i'm thinking this will eventualy get a go ahead. You asked, and since i'm interested in this, I think I would be a good choice because I can create a quality mix in the style this project requires (probably something more intense, since it's about bosses ). I have no mixes on the site, but I last submitted to the panel in like, 2004, which explains why. I'll have a couple mixes on Project Chaos, or you can check my artist page in my profile for all my really crappy songs...

This actually does seem like it could be a sucessful project, and it's neat that all the themes are from different games. I wonder why someone hasn't thought of this...who says a remix project has to be only one game? Anyway, I could write some music if this project were to ever go anywhere (certainly hope it does). Put me on the "interested" list.

Is the weekend a realistic goal, Snap? I guess we're hearing 2 different opinions. Maybe you guys shouldn't set any dates yet because all that gets is the annoying "OMG" posts that we just dont need, And then more "I CANT WAIT!2!11!!" posts if you don't meet that deadline. Everyone needs to have some patience now, and understand that this isn't the only thing in peoples lives right now. I know how it feels to be pushed to get stuff done, and nobody wants that. -
Haha that beepy "jazz music", and all the annoying cheezy computer sounds....wow. What would we do without things like FL Studio?

Well, i'm actually composing the song for credits, and i haven't really worked on it, but if KFC doesn't record guitar parts for me, it'll have some nasty synthy guitars, unless you don't care about that... -

Wow, a quintuple post. That's got to be a first! Lol, just messin with you. Cool to see people excited about the project...it seems like we'll never get it done. -
HALLELUJAH! Sample lovers, it's a dream come true!

Holy hell theres more CDs on sale! I bought a few from this page a month ago but now they have like twice as many. Too bad theres no Giga format on most of the CDs. Akai is ok though. I bought a Roland copy of Ultimate strings a while back and, i found out that Roland CDs SUCK. -
I can tell you that getting into the habit of being in only 2 different places (class and computer desk) every day, day in and day out, is a depressing and boring cycle, and it could be affecting your creativity. You live in a dorm, right? Start hanging out with new people and going places. Probably the best advice in the whole thread. If a computer is more or less your only form of social contact, you need to get out more. Yes that indeed explains it, and its probably my problem too. I thought the same thing last night, about how i should get off my computer more. I';; probably just go out with freinds and do what i would normally consider "wasting time" for a few days. Oh and try changing your FL background. Works for me sometimes.

I haven't heard from him either. He usually messages me on MSN once in a while... And po should be recording the violin for hidden palace soon, and i will be sending the wave files to you, snapple. I just hope KFC can still play guitar for credits. -
Usually my ideas come out of the blue, or from just messing with stuff. I just open up some samples or a preset and write stuff down until one good idea gets things going. Don't think you have alot of crap WIPs either. Lately i have had FLP files everywhere, on my desktop, in tons of folders, and all the files are named something like "dfghdfkjdfkkk vnbnhj". All of them are crap.

ITS HORRIBLE. I'm having the same thing right now. I can write little things, or melodies but i end up saying "this sucks" or it just doesn't go anywhere. I'm really hoping it will just pass but it doesn't feel like it ever will. It's not even a lack of inspiration, i can hear a song perfectly in my head. I just don't seem to have the ability to write it down properly. It just sounds like ass....

any good free orchestra or strings VSTs?
Kanjika replied to adfsghjn's topic in Music Composition & Production
My advice is to go on a huge soundfont downloading spree. Just go to Hammersound and SF2 Midi, search things like 'strings' 'brass' 'orchestra'. I'd say squidfont is good for what you need. The sounds suck but you needn't worry as much about the sounds at first. Start with good arrangement. I used co compose "orchestral" with the crap FL has. I had no idea what a soundfont was... If you want good sound, Compy is right. You have to pay. You can't go to the junkyard and find a good car to drive, you pay thousands at a dealer. Granted, there are cheap cars and also cheap libraries too. -

Crap, im going to need a violinist for Hidden palace, cause my synthetic violin is just sucking. I found one good person awhile back on VGmix but that site is down for the moment. Anyone know someone who can record violin? I tried the request thread but got no answers. -
If you really know what you're doing, the samples and plugins included in FL can do a lot of great things. They don't just 'suck', theyre plenty usable, but once you see better VSTs, samples, effect plugins, it becomes less useful to you because you have higher quality sounds to replace the old stuff. I'd reccomend starting out using the FL 'crap', and go from there. When you first start using FL, you will suck at it, and the music you output will be very poor, and it takes a considerable amount of time to improve your skills. And why do you guys feel that FL makes you compose in patterns? I don't ever feel limited my FL Studio's layout. I tend to compose my music in large 16 or 8 measure sections, and sometimes all im the piano roll on pattern 1. You dont have to make everything in patterns. And, you CAN change time signatres somewhat. You guys just completly dismiss the possibility to since theres no definite time signatre option. If you want to go from say, the default 4/4, to fast 6/8, just change the number in the corner to 6, and change the snap to 1/2 beat. Same if you wanted to do 7/8, 11/8, hell, you could do 34/16 if you just change snap to whole beat and set the number in the corner to 34. And if it looks messed up when in the piano roll, you can just change the zoom, and avoid using the step seqencer. When you change from quarter note to eighth note pulse you will have to double the tempo though, and thats not hard to do at all.
