  1. just an fyi for people posting spoilers, you don't have to use [ color=black ] tags to make the text back to normal. Anything you type outside of the [ color=white ] [ /color ] tags will be the default color.

Using Ramma's Dark Skin, I can live with having spoilers highlighted for me in bold white, but seeing non-spoilery text in black against a black background can get annoying.

  2. Alas, I don't own Zelda because I didn't enjoy it as much as I was expecting after playing through it on a friend's Wii.

Do I have to go rent it to get homebrew on the Wii, or is there a better way yet?

A rental should suffice (or borrow it from your friend if he still has his). You're only going to use it once (unless you end up deleting the Homebrew Channel). After you get your hands on a legit copy of TP, use the Twilight Hack to install the Homebrew Channel.

The HB Channel will allow you to run homebrew straight off an SD card, rather than run the TP Hack each time.

  3. In addition, the bottom of the disk, although with no big scratches, is of a purple tinge instead of the silvery iridescent color i am used to.

That's normal. It just means the game is stored on a CD instead of a DVD.

I'm not too sure about 2nd gen PS2's but from personal experience, PS2's have trouble reading CD's after a while. An old remedy for this was to put two pieces of tape (or a CD label) on the disc to weigh it down, since CD's are lighter than DVDs. Sounds like the previous owner of your copy botched the CD label application, making the disc unstable (hence the noise).

The only consequence to your PS2 is it might damage the lens. My first PS2 started making loud noises when loading a disc, before it finally stopped reading them altogether.

  4. Endless Attack is worth it, I agree. Some crazy bastard has over 850 rooms on the XBLA leaderboards.

You think that's high, the high score on the Wii version is 3067. Though granted, they've had it a couple days longer than Xbox owners. I remember the first day, most high scores were in the 300s, with first place being a little over 1000.

  5. ...what was the significance of this episode? how did it relate to current events?!

Crystal Skull DVD comes out on Tuesday

i saw it twice, they aired the episode again

Yeah, they always show an encore presentation after the Colbert Report

  6. If you go to the leaderboards, you can always check out your gamertag's highest and how it compares to just your friends. My current is just over 100 screens.

Should've mentioned I have it on the Wii, so no gamertags or friends list. All we get in our rankings screen is the top ten scores.

  7. LT: Awesome! Are there any more that can be made?

Unfortunately, those are the only 8-bit portraits in the picture packs. All the other ones are of the official art.

I'll keep an eye out for the next picture pack, which should contain the other four robot masters.

  8. Some Mega Man 9 portraits, taken from the MM9 Gamer Picture Pack 5. Originally at 64 x 64, but they scaled down nicely down to 32 x 32

  9. I was going to get Proto Man, but ended up getting Endless Attack instead, and it's awesome.

I love how some of the rooms are taken straight out of earlier games. My current record is 31 screens, though I would've gotten further if I wasn't so stubborn in sticking with the Mega Buster during the Jewel Man battle in Screen 30.

  10. Ebay, bro. That's where I got the GB Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge from. MM2 I got from a used game store. What I really want is MM5 because of all the original bosses and story. Hard to find though.

Yeah, but the GBA collection was supposed to have them in color, plus having them all on a single cartridge is better than carrying around all five.

  11. There were a couple Rockman Arrange Special CDs, & the second one had a nice arrangement of Wave Man... except it included sound effects. Why the hell do they do that? I never really understood the concept behind that. If I wanted to hear sound effects, I'd just record myself playing it... or rip them myself.

I thought the sounds effects worked pretty well with the song. Not like they were all over the place, just at the beginning and end.

But yeah, Fly Me to the Sunshine is what made me realize how awesome Wave Man's theme is. Even requested it here about a year ago.

  12. Wily 3's boss is simple once you realize that there's a strict pattern to the flying chunks (and find the right weapon, too.)

Just like all the other devils in previous titles.

That boss seems like the perfect candidate for an easy Marathon fight achievement, but the boring boss music just makes me want to finish the fight as soon as possible.

You are you guys/gals using for a controller? (I saw that the Gamecube controller was not functioning properly)

I use the Classic Controller, using y to shoot and b to jump. The d-pad on the Wiimote is a little too small for my tastes.

  13. I'm waiting to see if the Xbox 360 version is as good. Then I'll decide between it and the Wii version tomorrow...

It doesn't come out until next week, Oct. 1st.

    also, from the IGN review:

While we're on the subject of 360 though, we need to make a note that each of the versions of Mega Man 9 will look slightly different, since Wii's build looks to be a direct NES port of sorts, with the HD versions having a slightly smoother, but also higher contrast -- not as "NES-like" -- presentation. You're going to get the same experience on every version overall, but those that want to sit down and critique the truly minimal differences between the builds will find that the emulation between the three versions is going to differ ever so slightly. The Wii version has more of the 8-bit look overall to it, but that also means there are harder edges, and a more pronounced "blocky" look. Is that a good thing, or bad? In the end, it's going to be personal preference, but as die-hard fans who grew up with the Blue Bomber, we prefer the Wii emulation, as it's truest to form.
