An OverClocked Christmas 2013 ~ Now Recruiting
Dyne replied to Dyne's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
As a special present to all of you good little boys and girls (okay, groovy ReMixers), I'm going to extend the deadline for the project by seven days. That means the new deadline is as follows: December 17, 2013 -
An OverClocked Christmas 2013 ~ Now Recruiting
Dyne replied to Dyne's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
I apologize if anyone has been trying to reach me. I've been dealing with some personal family issues over the course of the last two weeks, and have finally gotten some time to deal with everything. I will be check my email and my PMs here on the forums. I promise, I will be getting back to as many people as I can. For now, if you've got any kinds of updates or finished tracks, please let me know. I'm going to keep the current design of the site for this year yet, and then over the next year will be working to update the site's design. I'm just low on time right now, and have enough to get everything set up for the release of the album. If you have any questions, please refer to the OP for information. Otherwise, if there's a question you need answered, just PM me. Thanks everyone! -
An OverClocked Christmas 2013 ~ Now Recruiting

Excellent. For anyone else who may have PM'd me, I'm not ignoring you, I'm just particularly busy with some personal IRL stuff. Do not worry, I'm also working on a redesign of the site proper, and hope to implement that on release day. Yes, I'm a little weird, I like to keep it fresh. -

I had not seen that. That's really cool. I'll have to take a quick look. In that case, that album may happen sooner rather than later! Anyway, yes, I hope someone ReMixes it too. -
An OverClocked Christmas 2013 ~ Now Recruiting
Dyne replied to Dyne's topic in Recruit & Collaborate!
A Paper Mario album would be cool. Maybe we'll do that someday. For now, I'm happy to 1) bump this post, and 2) just let you know that I'm looking forward to this album's release as always! -
Well, it's that time of year again, and I can think of nothing better than to begin An OverClocked Christmas! This year will be the seventh year of the album, and as always, it continues to grow and change as time moves on. With that said, I'd like to extend an invitation to everyone who wishes to join the album project! All are welcome as always! Here are the details: Album Deadline The same as last year, I want to have all of the tracks by DECEMBER 17, 2013 This still gives me plenty of time to prepare the web site, upload the assets, tag all of the files, and make sure everything works properly before dropping the album proper on December 24. FAQ Every year I receive a lot of questions about what kind of music is accepted or acceptable for this project. So I'll try to answer as many questions as I can right here. What kind of music is allowed on the project? Since it is a freely released album, I'm open to any kind of music you want to create. You can rearrange/remix traditional Christmas music, or find yourself a video game track you enjoy and remix that instead (this could be pretty much any game, by the way). Don't limit yourself to just snowy themed songs either, it could be Costa Del Sol from Final Fantasy VII, and you could turn it into a Christmas or wintery themed track. Is there a limit to how long my song should be? (And other standards of quality questions.) The simple answer is no. The long answer is, if you'd like to use any standard measure for song length or quality, I suggest looking at the OCR Standards. Especially if you plan to submit this to OCR. I think using the OCR Standards as a template is a good idea, but you don't necessarily have to follow them for the album. Remember, it's an open community project, this doesn't get posted on OCR as a regular project. That said, maybe someday, if there's enough support from every one, maybe we'll take aim at an actual official project, but for now, I'm satisfied with everything we've done thus far. What file format should this be in? I accept both WAV and MP3 formats. That said, if you submit it in WAV format, I need to know the following: who you are (remixer handle/artist name/band name), the title of your song, any comments you'd like added to the comments section of the tag, and a web address of your web site if you have one, and if you want it in the tag information. Also, your track should be at least 192kbps and 44khz. I try to keep this at least standard across the album. If you submit in WAV, I will re-encode it myself. Source Ideas Last year, Ocre posted a really great list of youtube videos highlighting some great tracks. I'm going to once again share that list here: http://ocremix.org/forums/showpost.php?p=881972&postcount=19 If you have any source song ideas, which can be pretty much just about anything you'd like to share in reference to the details outlined in this thread post, please do so in this thread, and try to call my attention to it so I can repost it in the main post here. The Web Site (as always, thanks to Obtuse for the space!!): An OverClocked Christmas: http://www.obtusemusic.net/OCR_Christmas/index.htm Contact As usual, you may contact me here on the OCR Forums through Private Message, or through my regular email address on gmail: dyne2057@gmail.com. Questions, concerns, comments, please feel free to throw them my way and I will do my level best to get you the answer. Thank you, and good luck!

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst coming to Steam!
Dyne replied to DarkeSword's topic in General Discussion
Wow! Really!?! That's awesome dude!! Now I kinda wish the rest of the serious would make it to Steam. Still, that's awesome! Hopefully I have the specs to support it, and if I don't, well, I'll just have to see about upgrading. -

Intrigue. What's the worst that could happen? -
http://www.gamesradar.com/metal-gear-solid-v-details-cleared-kojima/?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=emp This may or may not help. Obviously, Kojima is going to be quiet on things he's not allowed to talk about, so as far as the new voice actor goes for Snake/Big Boss, I guess we'll find out sometime closer to launch, or maybe at one of the upcoming expos. You know, I was thinking about who the disfigured man might be from the Ground Zeroes trailer. That may well be Coldman. I'm not sure, but it seems plausible. If it's not Coldman, well, I'm not sure who then. It's improbable that it's somehow Decoy Octopus. Unless Decoy Octopus is somehow very old during MGS. As far as Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain goes, as I understand it, it's two parts of a whole. Or so Kojima says in that interview I just linked in this post.

In case it wasn't entirely obvious... in other words, tl;dr... http://kotaku.com/hideo-kojima-explains-why-longtime-snake-voice-actor-wo-463058170?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow Oh yeah, and one last thing... The guy on the horse? Clearly Ocelot. The kid in the gasmask, again, clearly Psycho Mantis. Honestly, I'm waiting for Decoy Octopus, Vulcan Raven, and Sniper Wolf to somehow show up.

Holy crap!! Two games?! Nice. Now I'm excited!! By the way... If I'm not mistaken, Zadornov's prosthesis was on his right arm. Also...why oh why is there something stuck in Big Boss' head? That's been bothering me. Something just dawned on me. Kojima wants to use the social aspect of the PS4 at some point. And if Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games, imagine for a moment that you can use transfaring between the console and the Vita. I mean, they did it with Peace Walker on PSP and in the HD Collection. So, I'm assuming that Kojima isn't going to limit use of the game to solely the console or the handheld. Furthermore, they've been talking about how social the PS4 will be, and it only makes sense that since the Vita is basically a more social unit, that you'd be able to move your game anywhere via it, or via the features of the PS4. Yeah, I think Kojima is once again trying to keep us five steps behind him. I think this is one of the main reasons that Hideo Kojima is one of the greatest living game makers today. But that's an opinion.
-
Besides that...it's entirely possible that this, like so much other MGS info over the years, is being orchestrated to get fans hyped up. So, take it with a grain of salt. Besides, the limited amount of speaking by Big Boss in the video tells me that they probably wanted to conserve some money instead of hiring Hayter on immediately. Then again, who knows, really? Well, okay, other than Kojima. Also... There is an article going around the Kojima wants to embrace the PS4 as well. This is that article: http://www.polygon.com/2013/2/28/4041372/hideo-kojima-playstation-4-new-modes-of-interaction

Something else that I noticed; the hospital he's in might be a European Hospital. The Union Jack on the wall kinda makes it seem this way. Or... It may be a hospital run by Zero of The Patriots.
-
Ocelot was not the only one in the video. Did you see Psycho Mantis? Yes, that was Psycho Mantis with the red hair, ya know, before he goes bald. And I'm seriously not sure what the hell else is going on in the video, other than the moments where Snake is trying to enter and then escape from Mother Base. Also... Could "V" be this guy? http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Vladimir_Alexandrovich_Zadornov I should also note that via Twitter, it's become apparent that DAVID HAYTER WILL NOT BE NAKED SNAKE/BIG BOSS... Go to @DavidBHayter to figure that one out. It could be another Kojima stunt that he likes to pull...but I don't know. Couldn't tell you one way or another, seems pretty legit.

A very happy birthday to you DusK!!!

OCR02615 - Legend of Dragoon & Xenosaga "Unbreakable Heart"
Dyne replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I just happened to be browsing OCR at the same time as I was listening to Innocent Deception. ...and then I saw this and just had to listen to it. I am absolutely blown away once again. The two of you as a duo is an amazingly explosive combination of beautifully sung lyrics, with elegant composition. I'm in love with the solo at around 3:11. It's magnificent. You've captured amazing emotion with yet another track. I hope you two keep this up for the foreseeable future. Absolutely well done. -
Even if they were able to execute this, and as I understand it Sony is going to attempt the same thing with the PS4 (or so I've heard), the only people that they would be affecting besides the gamers who play used games, are places like GameStop. And honestly, with the way GameStop treats its customers at times (not always, but I've heard more bad than good), I almost agree with the step. Still, Best Buy now deals in used games, and while I haven't heard anything good or bad about that, it will hurt them too. My question is, will this affect my current game library? Because if so, then I'd rather stay away from the next gen consoles and stick with the current gen until they burn out.

Dyne replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The flavor in this track is immense. I love it. Well done Mazedude, you've created a brilliant track inspired by a song that I really love myself. On top of that, you make it work so well. It's beautiful, really. -

MAGFest Presents: Game Over concert series (Austin, TX)
Dyne replied to Nick The Newbie's topic in General Discussion
Acquiring Bit Gen Gamer Fest, eh? I went to last year's event, it was pretty sweet. Would be interesting to see it get the 'MAGTouch' (in a good way!!!). I hope though that you might have a different venue in mind though. I wasn't exactly keen on being 3 blocks from the red light district. -

I've been working through his lessons, the way he suggests, and I'm actually making progress. I am actually getting results, because I'm listening to what he's saying, and being diligent about it. I'm really happy about this!! I can't wait to see what else he does with VGU! -
