  1. Great idea - not one that had ever occurred to me, but the tracks seem almost made for eachother (which I suppose is the ultimate aim for an A+. The chiptune sections work best - I love the way the backing changes when Eminem hands over to... that other guy (I'm hardly a D12 aficionado) at 0:50. (There's a similarly great moment at 2:37). The "uh-huh"s fit perfectly at 1:10-1:15. Virt's arrangement is perhaps just a bit too busy to fit comfortably under the vocals - the soloing kinda gets in the way - but it's a minor complaint, and I think it's a terrific idea to use both a rearrangement and the chip - it adds a lot of variety. "Bitch!" coinciding with the crash at 2:55 is just perfect. Did you spend hours moving things around to find moments like that, or was it all fluke? Either way, it's brilliant. Already one of my favourite VG-mashups (not that it's a huge genre, of course). Keep 'em coming! [cross-posted at GYBO, just because]
  2. I dreamt once that djp came to my house for dinner. That's probably the geekiest dream I've ever had.
  3. I was dubious at first, but god damn it, it's the same song.
  4. Looks like it could be fun. I like some of the character design and camera angles. I'm into that Peter Chung / Takeshi Koike type stuff. And only 5 eps? Great, that means I can actually afford to pick it up on DVD (no Spike here).
  5. ThaSuace used to release 25-track torrents, for a little while at least. An official torrent every 50 or so might not be a bad idea, actually.
  6. Fun stuff! There's something immensely satisfying about fitting together two tracks with the same title. Bit overlong maybe, but the breakdown helped stave off boredom. How'd you get on with Audacity for Mac?
  7. Just me I guess. This is loads of fun. I don't know either of the original tunes, but they fit together perfectly. Your friend must have a good ear. If I hadn't known it was a mashup, I would've assumed it was supposed to be like that - apart from the rap, of course, which is a fun addition. The War of the Worlds quote is a nice touch too.
  8. It's so nice to hear a boot made with professional-quality indgredients I can't really think of much to say about this one, because it all works. The vocals fit nicely over the Rob D track and the NIN instrumental elements are well chosen. The only part I'm not so keen on is the NIN synth which enters around 2" and contributes little more than hiss. It's a minor gripe, though, and it does add to the NIN feel. Like you said, 3 down, 7 to go You know, until recently I was very ambivalent about Dougan, but you've almost singlehandedly converted me: to the point where I'm seriously considering buying the album - the version with all those lovely instrumentals, of course. edit: provided your GYBO thread with a completely unnecessary bump
  9. lmao I'd like to ask how the new judges are settling in (very well, from the looks of the latest decisions threads). Are you enjoying the work?
  10. I'm not overly familiar with BGC, although I distinctly remember loving his Metroid 2 mix. Pixietricks rules, but we already knew that. Congrats to both. It's pixie and zircon, isn't it?
  11. I guess that explains why the torrent still includes Pilotwings 64 'Birdman Clear Skies' (OCR00141), which is listed in the Changelog as part of the lockdown. Looks like a simple mixup. But, aside from a few minor discrepancies in the id3 tags, I haven't noticed any other problems. Thanks to Aubrey and everyone else who put these torrents together – I know a lot of time and effort went into it. Sewer Thug is a weird one – neither Quicktime nor WMP can play it, for some reason. See the reviews thread for more info. Sigh... I wish I'd found such an easy way of doing that. I've wasted hours of my life manually drag-and-dropping songs into my iTunes playlist. Speaking of which, if anyone wants a copy, PM me and I'll post the playlist as an xml file.
  12. On the contrary, this is exactly the kind of remix I've been waiting for since I discovered OCR. From an early age, I've been exposed (not entirely unwillingly) to a lot of folk music, so it's a genre I have a certain affinity for, and I think there's a lot of mileage in adapting VGM to this style. I hope others will follow djp and Taucer's lead. I'd attempt it myself if I possessed even a modicum of talent. The vocals and guitar are a good match, both for each other and for the spirit of the original piece. Yes, it's short, but I don't think it needed to be any longer as the idea is as fully explored as it could be without adding further melodies or instrumentation, which might have worked but would have totally changed the feel of the song. Plus the short running time leaves you wanting more, which is never a bad thing, is it?
  13. SPECIAL FEATURES = AWESOME The last few shows have been amongst the very best. I don't think VGDJ's ever sounded more professional. Well done pixie and zircon.
  14. It also works in VLC Media Player. I'm glad I finally found a way to play it, 'cos it's a nice little track – not one of Jaxx's best, but the sax, breakbeats and general unpredictability make it worth a listen. Shame so few have heard it, really...
  15. Reading the words "gypsy jazz" and "Django Reinhardt", I had high hopes, and Mr Holovaty doesn't disappoint. All that's missing is some Stephane Grappelli violin. Very nice.
  16. Track 26 from Bound Together by Mustin, the one played is the instrumental version, the vocal one owns aswell Man, I knew it sounded familiar. I should listen to Bound Together more often. Cheers!
  17. What's the name of the goofy tune that plays from 12:50 to 15:10 in episode 32? It's been buzzing around inside my head for ages and it's driving me insane.
  18. Wait... what? VGDJ is back?!! Keep it up, Pixie and Wingless
  19. I've been looking forward to this since checking out an early version on the WIP forum. Since then, SGX has worked wonders with the production - it's terrifically dirty, without ever getting muddy. And Sephfire has done a great job of transforming a simple little ditty into a dark, brooding arrangement. I'd say this is up there with Glass Cage as one of the best of OCR's more liberal mixes.
  20. So the torrent hasn't actually finished downloading? When the torrent reaches 100% and you have all 500 tracks (or however many are in the torrent), they will be un-jumbled. BitTorrent, as far as I understand it, splits each file into handy, bite-sized chunks, which won't be correctly assembled until you've downloaded them all. So there's nothing to worry about.
  21. If the tracks are jumbled, and some have gaps in them, then the torrent hasn't actually finished downloading. If you don't have any gaps, just jumbled songs, then I think there's something seriously wrong with your BitTorrent client.
  22. Cheers! I'm leeching now, but won't be able to seed until tomorrow, I'm afraid. I have a Halo date tonight...
  23. I can't download the Episode 21 .torrent file - I'm getting a "file doesn't exist" error. iTunes isn't showing it either, for some reason. Same thing happened last week.
  24. Nice work, D-Lux. While I'm here, I have a question regarding the OCR torrents: Does iTunes (for Mac) do anything to the mp3s which means I shouldn't seed them? Or can I just point my BT client at ~Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Compilations/http___www.ocremix.org and seed from there? (I have OCR01001+ stored in a separate folder from the rest, as I haven't yet added them to my iTunes library. These are the only files I've been seeding, since I'm not 100% sure that iTunes doesn't mess with the files in some way...) Any iTunes/Mac users out there know what I'm talking about?
  25. Great show, guys. Farewell, Pixietricks. Shnabubula's ReMixer comment made me right-paranthesise my colon. Now that is TMI.
