  1. The unlocking is a system-wide setting, so don't worry about it. If you look into the records, it's amazing just how much stuff the game records. Makes me wonder if Nintendo is recording the data when you connect, to see what the real data is on the game.
  2. You know, I'm probably the only one who thinks this.. but what if the alternate "costumes" for Sonic are actually Silver, Shadow.. and Knuckles?
  3. The one thing I really, REALLY don't like about Mario Galaxy, beyond the small nags, is that the levels are far too linear. In Mario 64, and in many levels in Mario Sunshine, you were free to go wander the level all you wanted. There were certain goals that were emphasized, or a few small changes, but for the most part you could explore the entire level. In Mario Galaxy, you can't. :/
  4. Hey, at least the upgraded triple jump in SM64 is useful! At least, for mucking about anyway. The reason why it's better, is because the third jump makes you invincible to falls. And then you even get that extra little bounce at the end. Makes it fun!
  5. I.. don't really like it so far. Granted, I'm just as far as the first actual level after you get to the hub world, but still. I'm tired of all this top-down view. And I just can't seem to make Mario do a decent backflip, or get the kind of range in it that he'd get in Mario 64. I'm actually disappointed, so far. :/
  6. Anyone else think Nintendo kinda.. dropped the ball on the release itself? Far too many stores just didn't even get it on release day, or monday because it's a holiday. Like, seriously. If you're going to release a top-tier, AAA game on a long weekend, release it on thursday so it hits shelves on friday so people can actually spend the weekend to play the damn thing, rather than running around to stores, trying to find it!

It's funny, because there's a Sony apologist in there, trying to use the excuse that the X360's 30% fail rate should STILL be harked on, even though MS admitted the problem and has been going out of their way to actually replace all the affected consoles as they come in, free of charge. But, every time an incident like this with MS does come up, it DOES get reported and pointed out. The RROD is a common event now and every given occurrence doesn't need to be brought up.
  8. And the security-enhancing system update that goes with it, I'm sure. They seem to happen around the time of every major Nintendo release. And then we have to run an update again when we put the game in for the first time.

Damn. That's the kind of advertising they should have been using last year.
  10. Hey, to be fair.. Dragonblade was done up in like 8 months, by a small company that only really does quickie games. And there hasn't been any even passable dragon-centric games, ever, aside from Spyro and Panzer Dragoon. Everything else that tries to use a dragon as the main point of the game or story, has wound up as utter and uncontrolled shit. Even on the PS3. And I think we may have been hoping too much from Dewy's Adventure, because it was one of the first second-generation Wii titles, done by the same team that did up Elebits. We were hoping for something along the lines of that game, evolved in some way.
  11. After this game is released, the console war is officially over. For the next 6 bloody generations. And Nintendo won't have to do much else to cater to the "hardcore" crowd, because every last one of them on the planet, is going to be playing this and not caring about anything else.
  12. wewt. Managed to nab Zack & Wiki and pre-order SMG. Wanted GH3, but the city's sold out of all versions of it. Ah well. Maybe I'll be able to get it by christmas. Now to go play Z-dub
  13. Have you received your shipping confirmation from Nintendo yet? If not, they haven't sent yet. I got my confirmation on the 24th.
  14. That video just brought me to fucking tears. That was beautiful.
  15. And the best Kid Icarus game, as well.
  16. Incorrect. 2GB or smaller. Proof: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX15152(ME).aspx 2GB SanDisk SD card. For Wii. Can't say that's not supported by the hardware, since it's actually marked as being for it.
  17. Latest update blew my geekwad. I hope they let you do more than just have it as a "once in a lifetime" thing, for the daily maps.. like if you like it enough, save it to SD card and store it on your computer, or something.
  18. Sure makes it sound like it's quite possible that the Wii's online system doesn't have to be so shitty. Here's hoping 3rd parties will do the smart thing with their online play and just have it automatically import your buddy list from the address book. It might teach Nintendo that they're not king of the hill on their own system, in all ways.
  19. I went to buy the game yesterday, and neither of the stores I went to had even heard of the game. And one of them specializes in hard to find games! Their distributor doesn't even have the game on THEIR list. Something tells me that Zack & Wiki won't sell that well, but this time it won't be due to lack of people wanting it. It's flown so far under the radar, with no one advertising the damn thing beyond viral word-of-blog, that even distros don't know it's out there.
  20. Dunno if anyone has posted this yet or anything.. but it looks like Krystal might be in the game as well. http://www.alesiaglidewell.com/vo_games.htm
  21. With Snake, SSBB hit legendary status. With Sonic, it hit perfection. With replays and recording for proving your pwnage, it has transcended its own limitations and become something so much greater. And there's still 4 months to go.

When a system like the PS3 still has a library so honestly pathetic that the biggest selling point for it is the past libraries of games from PS1 and PS2 that you can play on it, while new PS2 games are STILL coming out, taking out the BC support is just a way to cripple it. You just don't get the total package anymore. Fuck, in 5 years the PS3 will be reduced to two PS2 ducttaped together with a bit of waggle in the controller. Which would still make it weaker than the Wii.
  23. Hay, I found at least one place that has TF2 custom maps indexed.. but so far, not very public-esque. More just one guy indexing them as he gets them. http://dungeonwiki.com/TF2Maps/ I'm seriously thinking we need to find a good place for this kind of thing, like Oblivion had for all of its mods and whatnot. :/

Honestly, one of the big selling points of Wii was, and to me, still is, the 100% GC BC support. But, that's because the hardware is so much smaller. In the case of the PS3.. because of the shape of the hardware, stacking isn't possible. If you have a PS2 slim, you can't stack it with anything, unless it's the topmost system. And, as anyone with more than 3 consoles active at any time could attest to.. inputs and power spaces come at a very high premium, especially when dealing with a modern TV set and surround sound speaker system, HD cable box, and DVD player. Being able to replace a PS2 with a PS3 means you're not dealing with having a whole bunch more jacks being used, without a purpose. It's not like you'd be playing more than one game at once and you would need to have PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, X360, GC, Wii, N64, DC, Saturn, etc... all plugged in at the very same time. But you can readily take PS1 and PS2 out, as well as GC. And eventually, even N64. And depending on the games you have, Xbox as well, unless you use it for media center functionality. Until they come out with a good, high quality and readily available AV switch, that supports HDMI, component and composite inputs/outputs, where you can simply string all your hardware up to it without a second thought, that's a hell of a lot of spaghetti hanging behind your system. And both MS and Sony will void your warranty, if you have their current systems plugged into a surge protector and you call them to complain about a problem. Good luck finding enough places to plug all your systems in, both to display and to power, without doing something that would void the warranty.

Being able to watch SDTV is a nigh distraction and nuisance that only the most hardcore TV viewers may even give a cent about when it comes down to BUYING decisions. It'd be nice to be able to watch SDTV on my new 72" plasma, but is it a selling point? NO! That's how silly you sound, Injin. It's like people who go out and buy an HD-DVD or BluRay player to replace their existing DVD player. They might have a catalog of hundreds of DVD movies and want to watch them with the upscaling features and whatnot that the new players have. But, hey, they're HD players! They shouldn't even bother being able to play oldskool DVDs!
