  1. At least it's not like those early mods that used the tilt function to control the cursor. The controller everyone thought was going to be a joke at first, has become a legendary tool in home mods. There's even people making PC apps that work like the channel menu, with support for the wiimote, to launch programs/emulators/etc.
  2. It's better than Lost, where you spend some 30+ minutes of the show dealing with pointless, mind-numbing back story of the characters, and 12 minutes where you're dealing with the situation at hand.. if that.
  3. Yet somehow, Claire survived, even though Sylar gained her healing power, which would require him to, I'm guessing, rip her brain out. Does that mean she was left to be a brainless cheerleader? And if Peter didn't have the healing power, does this mean that even going critical wouldn't cause the affected one to die from the explosion? Also, anyone else smirk, at the whole Fire/Ice thing they had going on there, at the end of the episode? And why would Peter be surprised at all, that his brother would have died, when he was standing right there for the blast? That last episode left too many questions and no answers at all. When they confronted Claire's dad, they told him that Claire was alive. It's assumed in that timeline, Claire was killed by Syler, allowing him to get her power.. but he has the healing power, with Claire surviving. I wonder if it might have been a result of the timelines blending together, with Hiro and Ando in the original future. And why the hell can't Hiro just go further into the future, get more information, then go back and really put an end to it? I tell ya.. Hiro is the best part of the show, but he sure isn't very smart.
  4. Time-space continuum. He can't go back and directly influence events in his own life, but that doesn't stop the past from visiting the future and changing events. Why future Hiro didn't just do his research and track down Sylar and kill him before the old professor found him, I don't understand. It'd prevent all the death and destruction and general badness from even happening, and everyone would be better off. The cop wouldn't have been at the crime scene, so his telepathy would have developed under far less stressful situations, for example.
  5. Absolutely great series. I just hope it doesn't wind up like Lost did.. strong for the first 2 years, then full of nothing but shit from then on. Then again, if they're going to switch it up, make it new volumes with new casts and new storylines each season, that could make things quite interesting, and really extend the life of a show, because you can't really get tired of it. Here ya go.. No worries, there's at least a second season for Heroes. http://www.tv.com/tracking/viewer.html?sls_id=6158&ref_type=101&ref_id=17552&tag=updates;title;0
  6. I'm guessing it's because the Internet channel came late, and Nintendo doesn't want to release 2 channels in the same calender month. I'd expect it in the first week of May.
  7. So, anyone think this is a bit of an underhanded blow against Sony? http://www.qj.net/Satoru-Iwata-We-d-love-to-have-Kutaragi/pg/49/aid/90758
  8. Yes, I believe it is. And I really wouldn't mind seeing another epic RPG series like Xenosaga come out, for Wii. The idea of porting characters between games is something we need more focus on, sometimes. Especially through a series.
  9. I really can't wait until Nintendo opens the floodgates on the online games. Anyone want to guess how many unannounced games are either complete or in the 90+% region, just waiting for Nintendo to give the say-so, for the online play?
  10. One thing that's been rather well proven at this point, is that PS3 is excessively well designed for cluster computing and folding operations. But, when you consider that it's like having 7 processors run at once, that 250k systems running the folding for the past month, to complete over a year's worth of work normally, is like having close to 2 million new high spec systems plugged into the network. I suppose, even if the system doesn't wind up selling too well, Sony could just retool them to go into overdrive as folding units and sell them for a heavy tax cut for science research. Especially if they get their GPU into the mix, to do its own folding on top of the Cell folding processes. If nothing else, Sony is now poised to be able to be the driving force behind doing everything from protein folding research, to SETI@HOME, to nuclear simulation research. Hell, even distributed AI could be nicely developed for it, I'm sure(SKYNET, anyone?). If Sony didn't start off by saying their consumers were too stupid to know what a rootkit is and too simple to give a damn, and didn't actively try to prove their consumers are nothing but mindless consumer whores with the PS3, it would be a decent system and would have been doing a lot better. It -is- a good system, it's just backed by a company I rather dislike.. though, I will grant.. their movies are pretty good.
  11. http://kotaku.com/gaming/playstation/ken-kutaragi-steps-down-at-playstation-255545.php So, wonder if now Sony will be able to pull things around for the PS3, now that one of the whackjobs in charge of the project has been "retired" from the division?
  12. Hey, look! Double post.. 2 days apart! Anyway, look what kotaku linked to. http://www.technologyreview.com/Infotech/18572/page1/ Maybe the next generation of Nintendo really WILL have holographics for their video display, after all?
  13. When I was a kid, my allowance every week, was pretty much to rent a game every weekend. If you look at the price of a game rental at, say, blockbuster, and compare it to the price of buying even an N64 game on the VC, the purchase is fairly reasonable(not counting how old the games are). But, the vast majority of the VC games on there so far, aren't ones to appeal to the children anyway. The kids today, would have started when N64 and PS1 were just hitting the market. To them, NES, SNES and Genesis would be mostly ancient and unworthy of being played. And off-topic, but does anyone know a good VGA solution for Wii, yet? Something perhaps that actually does progressive scan with component cables? Most of the devices I've looked at, only fuck around in interlaced mode, or are available only from websites that don't use encryption on their order forms.
  14. I think Square is full of it, and they've lasted long past their prime, going from solid games which might appeal only to a narrow audience(FF6, CT), to more mass-market games that are trash(FF7, 8, X-2). Square has no valid excuse for not releasing their games on the VC. If they were worried about pricing issues, that's why kids get an allowance and why Nintendo offers the points cards in store, so you don't even need a credit card.
  15. I'm just having fun working on the sidequest bits. Even if they -are- painfully time consuming. So far, I'm up to 42 hours playtime, and haven't even set foot in the second pit, or gone back to world 6 to deal with that. I do like how this actually has stuff to do, post-game. That's something few games these days bother with, instead opting to go ahead and just end the game, even if there's other stuff to do, so you either put off the entire last section, or miss out on a good half of the game. Right now, I'm working on mass-purchasing the Caught Cards, thanks to a massive money trick(takes a bit of time, but it's good). Can't wait until I venture into the flopside pit, doing over 700 damage to everything that comes my way.
  16. You know, with that nutcase Massacre Chaser, Jack Thompson out there, I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't come under heavy fire already, simply because of the sheer level of immersion required for you to play some of these games. I mean.. for any game that acts as a shooter, you actually need to keep a steady aim. Something you don't need in Halo or GTA or any of the like, be it with a mouse or a controller, because it's incredibly easy to hold your aim steady there. With the Wii remote, you actually need to keep your aim steady to make these shots. In that vein, Godfather is incredibly fun. I'm having such a great time pounding guys to death with my bare hands. Hope that wild boxing game comes out over here, sometime soon. Especially if it has online play. If MC,JT thinks Counterstrike and GTA can be used to "train", wait until you see the next generation of Nintendo Kiddies snap, after 500 hours on games like Elebits, training their steady hand, rapid hand-eye coordination and tracking skills.
  17. Best part about the controls for the game, is that they decided not to fuck around and go for that damn pointer-style control, to tilt everything. Holding the controller horizontally, like a steering wheel, or like in SPM, makes a whole hell of a lot more sense for giving good and comfortable control, over such a style of movement. Shame they didn't do something like that for Zelda.. would have made the Rollgoal minigame a lot more playable, IMO. And somewhat off topic.. I'm now up to 3 games. This is a first for me, with a system so new. I now own Zelda, Super Paper Mario(game is fucking great. Already have 40 hours in it, trying to test out things and max out some stats), and just bought that Godfather game yesterday. Only problem I have with the controls of Godfather, involves the camera. If you set the camera to "inverse" settings, then when you go free aim mode with a gun, aiming to the side of the screen, you'll cause the camera to turn the other way. That and the general aiming of the gun is rather clumsy, in lock-on mode.
  18. Or I could stick to emulation on my computer.
  19. For Nintendo to advertise that Super Mario World is "compatible" with the GC controller, is as accurate as me saying that the skin under my fingernails is compatible with a Vectrex, in that I was able to achieve some seemingly random amount of control over the game, by JABBING my finger into one of the controller ports and pressing the pins under my finger nails. By some occult wizardry of bioelectricity, I waas able to get some random level of control over the games, but not without a great deal of pain should I try for any extended periods of time. What I would -love- is if I could use my X360 pad to play all the games on the VC. It works great for emulation, as I have put it to a huge battery of tests on my computer.
  20. So, finally broke down, bought some Wii points, cashed some of 'em in for Super Mario World. Please, Nintendo, fix the controls. I feel like I was stolen from, because the game is utterly unplayable with a GC controller. YAX would be a far better control scheme for that game, than YAB, since a lot of the game involves doing things like.. running AND jumping, at the same time. Which you can't do, with a 1 inch gap between the buttons. Jackasses.
  21. Sheesh. Poor Sony. the PS3 just -barely- outsold the PS2 last week in Japan, according to the latest numbers. Meanwhile, it takes pretty much all other hardware to overcome the DS there. And then we get Pokemon over here shortly. They might as well start selling DS Lites in hospital maternity wards, at this rate.
  22. It's sick, how after 6 months, you still have to either be really lucky, or stand in line to wait for the store to open, to snag one in most cases. By this point, even the 360 started easing up their production woes.
  23. Sunday mornings. Always sunday mornings. Call toys'r'us and the like and ask if they're expecting to have any Wii for sunday morning, when most of them put their shipments out.
  24. Could be your firewall. Sounds like a general "Cannot connect to host" type error. I used to get it a lot, yet for some reason my router's settled down and is all too happy to let my Wii through, now.
  25. The text doesn't show up too well, on my setup. But, that's because 480i/widescreen doesn't really scale all too well, to 1440x900. Blurry, blurry, blurry!
