  1. From Nabeel: "Neblix Mega Man 9 + 1 Plug Man and Elec Man Slightly longer silence at the end as requested. Did not change bassline rhythm or dubstep LFO (I and plenty of others thought it was fine or at least had no gripes with it, so I'll only change it if you make it a Conditional vote for those reasons)" Uploaded to server as 'V2'
  2. previous thread: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=36124 Ignyte Tyrone Lobenstock ignyte_cnc@hotmail.com www.youtube.com/DJignyte Super Smash Bro's Brawl (Game Cube) / Star Fox (SNES) Corneria (On both Games) Retro Great-Fox Deathmatch (RESUB) Hey OC Guys. I spent all night working on this to try and get the "band-pass filter" sound away. I've pretty much removed all the effects I had, inserted a multi-band compressor to the master channel. Also, I cut down the length of the track so it wouldn't be as repetitive as the first submission. Midrange cutoff lowered, higher/lower frequency gain raised and some other effects have been used to try and broaden the sounds that some of the instruments create. -------------

Original decision: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35727 Resbumitted ReMix: Star King (v2.0) CONTACT INFO ReMixer name: DaMonz Real name: Emery Monzerol userid: 31308 SUBMISSION INFO Name of the games arranged: Star Fox 64; Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest Name of the arrangement: Star King Name of the individual songs arranged: Star Wolf Theme; Dark King Link to Star Wolf: http://youtu.be/o5ZBu3nHJkM Link to Dark King: http://youtu.be/t8AFiu_SBN4 Comments: Hello again, judges! I can still hardly believe I had hard panned my bass (I banged my head in the wall a couple of times when you made me notice that) Anyway, here's a nice centered bass, and I lowered a bit the highs on my percussion. I added a little mids on a few instruments too, and I also tweaked one of my main leads a bit. I' glad you enjoyed the first version, and I hope you'll like my tweaks! Oh and thanks a lot for the helpful feedback P.S.: expect more ReMixes from me, I have quite a few in the works
  4. Got an email from the mixer: "Death in Transition is not for your site, I will upload it to a site with enjoyable music, and not for what appears to be a now an Inspired by X remix kind of site. I want to be apart of a remix site that has enjoyable music, and from what I understand looking through countless posts by your own judges fighting these same claims, you would agree that OCR is not the site for enjoyable remixes, just rearranged non-predictable types (even though when I used to browse your site it was about the enjoyment, so you changed.) I no longer give your site permission to post my remix. Thanks for your time."
  5. I hate to agree with him on this, but OA's right. Love the direction you're taking this, but right now it needs to be tightened up, and the balance of all the instruments could be tweaked. Drums especially need to be touched up and improved. Please resub! NO (resubmit)
  6. The source is pretty short, so I give you kudos for making what you did out of it so far. Andrew's right, though; once this hits full stride, the energy level and development plateau, which is unfortunate. I think it would help to have some more drastic change-ups, either a drop out of the beat, or new ideas/instruments to keep the energy flowing more throughout. Some of the lead instruments felt a little buried at times, I'd check your overall balance between synths. Also, more beat variation overall is going to help things out. NO (resubmit)
  7. I definitely like what you did with the Super Metroid theme, but right now Metroid is a cover of the original with new sounds. Knowing and hearing what you can do to expand on the other theme, I'd love to hear you take a crack at the Metroid title in your own imagination and let things fly! As Andrew mentioned, the transition between the two themes is a pretty obvious theme-jump, I'd like you to make it smoother between the two. Also, Andrew mentioned that things are a bit mid-heavy. I'll agree with that. NO (resubmit)
  8. I listened to this one quite a bit, and I think that while this is a close call, I am comfortable giving it a nod. As Andrew mentions, the arrangement overall is close to the source, but there are a lot of new details and the transitions between sections are great. The sounds themselves aren't the best, and I think the exposed drums at the beginning wasn't the best idea, but when things are going I think they mesh fairly well. Good luck with the rest of the votes. YES
  9. I think Andrew has this right. I like the concept, and it's a funny mix to listen to, but the lack of transitions as well as the production aspects are holding this back. Hope you fix this up, it's a funny (and fun!) arrangement. NO (resubmit)
  10. I think the arrangement here is stellar, and the way the two themes are incorporated really works very well together. I like the subtle changes of melody, and the obvious structural changes really add something to the piece. For the most part the sequencing is solid, as well, although I think the 2-minute mark loses a bit of steam overall, I felt that was the weakest section. Overall a solid arrangement, looking forward to more from you. YES
  11. I'm feeling this a lot better than the first time around. The arrangement works pretty well, and it's a fun, eclectic mix. The sequencing is still mechanical at times, but I feel overall that the arrangement makes up for it, and it is improved. Good luck on the rest of the vote. YES
  12. I love listening to your arrangements; they're always so fun. I will agree with Andrew that the sounds are still holding this back a little (not a deal breaker this time!), but I'm hearing some improvements overall from you. Keep working on humanizing those sounds and getting them to sound better! YES
  13. I dunno, I think this is a viable remix that is viable for our standards. It's quirky, creepy, and it does have the source in there. Whether or not it's in there enough, and whether or not it's arranged to an acceptable standard is a different story. I found this to be surprisingly close. The melody is pretty awkward on it's own, so that is an interesting factor for the mix, and I think you do pull it off. I'm thinking the lack of any sort of definable ending is hurting this a bit, but oddly enough, I'm ok giving this a nod. Curious what the other judges think, and if they think I'm crazy or not. YES
  14. I like what you did with all the backing parts, it's a nice compliment to the source melody. Right now I will agree with Andrew that the reverb is drowning things out. Overall I think you would do better with a less smooth lead synth, as it seems to downplay the intensity of the rest of the mix. The drums could come through better, as well, turn them up a bit! It does need some production work, but I like the arrangement you have. NO (resubmit)
  15. This is interesting, because despite knowing it was in 5/4, I had a hard time placing the downbeat for a majority of this. The lack of emphasis is part of it, and it seems like there is some mixed-meter sections as well. Time signatures aside, the arrangement was quirky and interesting to listen to. Andrew mentions that this gets away from the source, and I don't think it's quite to the level he is mentioning, but I will agree that having a little more will help things out here. The sounds overall I think could use some more realization, and overall it felt like a lot of the track was crowded together. I can hear some panning, but maybe toying around with it some more will help things spread out. Quoting Andrew once more, the drums definitely need some more oomph. NO (resubmit)
  16. Yes, definitely bring those rain sounds down. I'd say that overall the arrangement is pretty good, but the overall soundscape still feels sparse. It's especially noticeable when there's no bass. Fix the production issues, maybe fill things out a bit, and I 'd like to hear it again. NO
  17. Going to agree with a lot of what Halc said already. The arrangement is solid: you've done a nice job bringing the original into this genre and soundscape, and it was a fun listen. There are some mechanical parts, something to look into for your next subs. Also, <3 PMD music. YES
  18. I am definitely going to agree that overall you've got a lot of different sections in here, but overall it's a very repetitive track. If you can add more variations overall, I think this could be a fun mix overall. Vig also nailed it on the lack of higher and lower sections, making this feel mid-heavy. Expanding your range here is going to open the soundscape. NO (resubmit)
  19. First decision thread: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=34426 ReMixer name: Sockpuppet userid: 27176 Game arranged: Pokemon Red Song arranged: 'Mt. Moon Cave' ReMix Title: 'Moondrops' Hi again, judges! Thanks for all your feedback on the first version! I finally got around to fixing this up. This one's mixed a bit better and has an actual transition in the middle, and there's some slight changes to the arrangement. Source breakdown, for those who didn't vote on it last time: 0:25-0:38, 0:51-0:56, 1:04-1:21, 1:29-1:36, 2:23-2:34, 4:22-4:52 and 5:01-5:51 are based on the first bit of the source, and the last bit of the source is being played by the bells, piano and/or the mono synth pretty much the whole way through 2:36-4:18. Also, thanks again to Emunator for the title and feedback, and to TheGuitahHeroe, redtails, tydin, Guifrog and DarkSim for giving feedback at various stages. --------------------- -------------------------- Said YES, before, so... This is a pretty unorthodox piece. It's a pretty ambient track featuring narrative told through voice files I took from the game. Some of the really unsettling bits toward the end of the game greatly inspired the overall sound (and title) of this track. The journey into the torture chambers was, in particular, a really fucked up part of the game, and definitely a highlight, made so in no small part by some of the voice-over narration, which I incorporated into this mix. 24. Yeah, this is solid. And a super improvement over the original, which I found to be way too short and repetitive. YES
