ReMixer name: HiroEcks Real name: Mark Segawa email address: mark.segawa@yahoo.com Website: www.myspace.com/numberonerival UserID: 44318 Name of game arranged: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Name of individual song arranged: Turnabout Sister's Theme Additional info: Platforms: GBAdvanced, NDS Composers: GBA - Masakazu Sugimori, NDS - Naoto Tanaka Original song: Comments: Here is my mini tribute to the Phoenix Wright series. Intended to go with video made to look like an anime intro for a Phoenix Wright show in the end. That in mind, I wanted to have a great uptempo rock/ska song to really set the mood for the quarky series. So to combine my love of VG music and pop punk this song was a lot of fun to write and I hope everyone has as much fun listening to it as I did recording it! Lyrics: Sifting throught the miles of red tape and all of the lies I'll take it slow and press on forwards find the contradictions, and can i... please just get a witness? please don't fall to pieces I'm right here by your side one by one things start to turn on me so don't you lose your faith in me! If I can overcome the objections that have been thrown on to me I know nothing comes easily For you I fight 'cause I believe If I can hold it together a little more than maybe you might see That I can turn this trial around And I won't stop till you're not guilty ------------------------------------------

Tacking on a little more source usage from Halc's breakdown, there is definitely source from :51-1:25 as well as what he mentioned. Not hearing the 4:29 section aside from 3 notes. I have to say, going from 3:19 to the end of the song with only one tiny hint of the source isn't working for me. Everything before that is some good arrangement, very typical of your style and it works well. Just can't have close to two minutes without source. Production-wise, Halc is right that some of those leads are way buried, and there are sections that are pretty cluttered. To be fair, you've got a heck of a lot going on, but it would be nice to keep things cleaner if possible. Gonna have to say NO (resubmit)

For me it's Cadbury mini eggs. Dunno what makes them so amazing, but....I can eat a bag in a day....seriously.
-
Not sure if I'm missing something here, but right now I'm hearing not much in terms of source usage. When it is used, it's way in the background. Aside from that I didn't have much issues except the guitars overall need to come down. Needs more source, please. NO (resubmit)

I'm sorry that I cannot listen to of any sort of sexy sax music without having come to mind.Anyways, I like what you've done with this mix arrangement-wise. Slowing down the theme really adds a lot of character, and you've done some nice work adding even more in your instrumentation and careful treatment of the sax and flute. I am a little curious why you didn't maybe contact some of our sax players here, as there are a decent number, but regardless, this is sounding nice. The sounds overall are a bit vanilla, and it's obvious they aren't real, but I think they do get the job done for the most part. Overall the bass drum isn't coming through much at all, and the snare comes off as really fake, and would be the only instrument I think could really be changed up. Sexier than a shirtless man serenading on a food court table. YES

Little to add here. I felt the vocals were a little dry overall, but it's not too detracting. Ending also still feels a little long, but it's also not a big issue. YES -

This is my another attempt to find "my sound" and style. Metal(or rock), electronic, orchestra or whatever. Sorry I'm not strong in genres render or any other terminology. When I play guitars(trying to play:D) I always have some strange feeling that something is wrong. Same as before this is experiment. I tried here synth lead, I have no keyboard so I "draw" this lead. I always love Synth+Guitar mixes. Pretty funny play guitar in this case. I enjoyed to play bass guitar in this mix especially, cause it's simple but interesting imo. May be I sucked in lead guitars, but I hope no one notice it)) As for the source. This is the only games series I like and, still playing sometimes. "Esaka" is the most popular thing from this series, i think. But every attempt of to remix it or even cover by different people(those I heard) was SUCKS!!!) So I had to do it! Even if I'm n00b) I just HAD TO DO IT! Thank You for listening and Your waste time! Hope someone enjoy this mix as I do! Have a nice day! And night) P.S. Sorry for my english, if I said something weird) -------------------

He was unable to walk due to a severe case of his meningitis, so he was unable to compete in the National Rowboat Olympics. He chilled with Babe Ruth and said that the Great Bambino was the King of Kraut. He was like my legs are killing me and walked to the medicine to take some aspirin. His mom called and he was like no way so the call went to his answering machine and his mom was like stop ignoring me and he would've said that she wasn't the boss of him but he didn't answer the phone so he just said it to himself and left the house because he was angry at the phone. And he didn't even leave a note. If you saw 127 Hours and thought this sounds familiar that's because it didn't happen and the movie copied what I said. Kefka cut off his arm with a pocketknife. I never said that Final Fantasy made any sense it was made by the same company that made Legend of Dragon and Super Yoshi's World so what did you expect that the plotline would make any sense? Kefka invented Pantera." ----------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hvy1MfVWKo

Avaris Level 99 MegaMan X Zero's Theme Link to source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rvgzkMqs2s This song is for the MegaMan X project, please do not post till project is released. I was listening to the Prodigy alot when during the creation of this song. The song takes the collage approach to composing several different layers and sounds and then exporting them to wav files. I had to approach the source material in some creative way in order to keep the repetitive fresh throughout the song. My personal favorite parts are the SGX style bassline, Stevo's guitars, and the string breakdown which is similar to the main theme with some notes moved around different octaves. I destructively edited and mangled lots of audio material and Stevo's guitar wankery to come up with this remix. It was a fun approach to making a song rather than traditionally sequencing or recording everything. The synths are a combination of Reason and Korg Legacy. Thanks for listening! Cheers, ~Shaun

When I heard this song in the bike level, it reignited my love for the After Burner source. But I still wanted to make something for Bayonetta which is why I decided to write a sexy and romantic song (Keeping her in mind). As you can guess from the title, it IS written for her I don't know how to play a real sax but I tried my best to make the sax sound as human as possible because there is no way the mix can be liked by anyone if the sax sounded mechanical. The idea was to convert the high pump action track to a slow, atmospheric song. I've tried harder than usual to make the most out of lead samples. I've also added breath effects to flute at the end so it would sound real. Also, the sax at 2:30 is not my original writing. It is inspired from the song below (2:21). I heard this song in a friend's car and thought this piece would totally fit into my mix. One last thing, the flute at 2:58 is actually part of source. Most people don't know this since it comes after the main song repeats for several times (I'm sure you guys know this but thought I'd mention it). However at 4:06, I wrote something myself to give the song a proper ending. I hope you like it!

OCR02475 - *YES* Mega Man X5 'affirmation'
DragonAvenger replied to OceansAndrew's topic in Judges Decisions
hey vinnie, same deal with my wild arms track, i lost everything i had in reason so i spent the better half of this day rebuilding the track in fl studio. i thank all the judges for their criticism and did my best in addressing everything except for the piano drops in the beginning, which i further developed. the crackle in the beginning is x slowly regaining consciousness after his battle with sigma. hopefully this context will shed some light on my stubborn decision to keep the piano drops, as unpopular as they are. also it looks like my revised submission letter didn't come through all the way. i'd like it to read: "first off i'd like to say whether this meets the bar or not, i want to thank the terrific people in #ocremix for all their help. pass or fail, it's been almost exactly a year since i've first started coming onto irc and looking back, i've learned so much from these guys. just to name a handful, tensei, snappleman, sixto, blitzlunar, blitzwater, dproject, monobrow, you guys are great the x5 ost has always stuck out to me among the vast mega man catalog, and i love the melancholic overtones in this particular track. a big creative influence was the recently departed nujabes (rip), whose jazz-infused hip-hop style inspired me on many levels and whose passing encouraged me to re-evaluate the lack of jazzy goodness and phat beats in my own songwriting style. the crackle in the beginning represents x as he slowly regains consciousness after the fight with sigma, and the title comes from x's self-doubt and perpetual search for truth amidst the carnage caused by the enigma crash and the loss of his partner zero. hope you all enjoy" here is the new track: http://tindeck.com/listen/fdgv -

Lee contacted us, and said we can push this out, he'll resubmit when he has more time. -
Agreed fully that the production is the main deal holding this back, although I've got some arrangement qualms. Right now all of the instruments don't feel very clear, and the mix isn't balanced overall as well. Honestly I think this needs a pretty big overhaul in the production end. Arrangement has it's personalizations, although it remains conservative. As Drew mentioned, the transitions are pretty fluid overall, no qualms with that. I think this could be trimmed down: I'm hearing a lot of one source played through 2-3-more times in a row before it moves to the next source, and there doesn't seem to be many changes between the replays. Not feeling the guitar solo at all at 4:27, felt like there were some note choices that weren't the greatest, and it would be great if you could look at that more closely. Surprisingly well-brought together for 5 separate sources, but this needs work. NO (resubmit)

Say hello to our NEWEST JUDGES!!!
DragonAvenger replied to OceansAndrew's topic in General Discussion
No no, it was a great month (SoS), until he became a judge.... -
First, I have to say the opening...bugs me. Just getting that off my chest. Love the rest of this though. You've really worked well with this source, and it's a lot of fun to listen to. I've only got a few nitpicks, one that the mechanical flow at 1:04 (and other sections) feels a little strange compared to the rest of the song, but in a way it works, too. There were a couple times I also felt the bass could come up a little. Otherwise this is a YES from me.

Contact Info Remixer Name : Mojohamster Real Name : Matt Armstrong Email : dapperswindling@gmail.com Website : n/a (Don't have one currently) Userid : 16222 Submission Info Game : F-Zero (SNES) Song : Sand Ocean Original Version : Comments : I find my compositions are often inadvertently influenced by the music I'm listening to at the time. In this case I had just reached the Mexico part of Red Dead Redemption and my initial versions of this remix were composed with brass soundfonts. However, over time the remix has mutated into a synth rock track. I would quite favourably describe it as a marriage between Santa Esmeralda's 'Don't let me be misunderstood' and Andrew Gold's 'Lonely Boy' - but that might be a touch preposterous with my somewhat modest compositional skills! If there's something I've learned over the course of this remix, it's that I wasted a lot of time trying to wrestle good sounds out of cheap vsts which I should of spent focusing on my composition a little more. My last attempt missed the judges panel for being too close to the original. Conversely, I think the real challenge with this one was holding onto the source through time signature and rhythm variation.
