I have never beaten SM64 myself, so for the first few weeks of borrowing it I played it heavily trying to get every single star; therefore, this song easily would be stuck in my head during the day. I've always found Koji Kondo's compositions to be very jazzy and entertaining, so I felt as though I simply picked up on the foundation he already laid down. This arrangement is a bit old (it's been on my Youtube account merely to display my animation hobbies) but my cousin intrigued me to start submitting them instead of letting them collect dust on my hard drive. good morning, OCR people. today i'm submitting Voices of the Deep, available at this site: . it's for the Link's Awakening project, so if it passes, please hold it until the project releases. remixer name: prophetik real name: Bradley Burr email address: bradley.burr@gmail.com website: http://prophetikmusic.net userid: 8761 name of game arranged: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening individual songs arranged: Catfish's Maw additional information: it's all on your system already own comments: this is a track i wrote for the Link's Awakening project. it was completed in about three hours. i noticed that there are very few remixes of this track, and wanted to try my hand remixing a tune that had been ignored so readily by the community. after five years of this project being up and down, no one ever gave it a shot. i didn't want to wait for someone to come along and do a crappy job on it, so i figured i'd give a shot. from the project commentary: -Catfish’s Maw is another of those tracks that’s particularly atmospheric, and doesn’t really work well outside of the game itself. There’s just so little musical content there that no one really wanted to work on it, with good reason. I picked this track up on a whim, and finished this remix three hours later. I rarely do music this ambient, which made it fun. Of course, Omnisphere helped a lot, too.

I still finished it for the Bad-ass boss project but got no reply about it so I am submitting it to OCRemix as a standard submission instead. As I listened to the original song, I felt that this was VERY metalfriendly stuff to work with and simply went with my usual dash of deathmetal blastbeats and heavy guitars, trying to make the song deviate from the original as much as possible without losing the link (pun sincerely intended) to the original. I also lowered the lead guitar at a certain point where it plays the melody that the girl sings alot in the game. Can't remember her name :c anyway, i did this because I didn't want to emphasize other tracks from the game too much.

In case it should pass, please don't post on the site until the album has been released. Comments: When listening to this track, I immediately felt reminded of "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite. So I had the idea to make an arrangement that makes a reference to that piece. I was amazed at how well that theme fits in to the overall mood that the original creates, especially since ithe result is a mixtures of a classical theme and a rather jazzy structure. I play it at a spot where the arrangement harmonically deviates from the original and goes to another key, and not only does it bring the arrangement 'back on track' in this regard, but it entails a bunch of changes and brings about a sense of escalation. So it serves as a musical idea that appears out of nowhere at just the right time, acts as a surprise and enables changes to take place which them promptly follow and which allow for a new intensified perspective on the material that was played before. This was recorded on an accoustic grand, and I apologize for minor creaking noises that the pedal makes at a couple of points. They are very quiet, but still audible. I unfortunately don't have access to a different grand.

melody peter kim www.youtube.com/xrisingforcex 29447 submission info: mega man x5 ending theme first off i'd like to say whether this meets the bar or not, i want to thank the terrific people in #ocremix for all their help. pass or fail, it's been almost exactly a year since i've first started coming onto irc and looking back, i've learned so much from these guys. just to name a handful, tensei, snappleman, sixto, blitzlunar, blitzwater, dproject, monobrow, you guys are great the x5 ost has always stuck out to me among the vast mega man catalog, and i love the melancholic overtones in this particular track. a big creative influence was the recently departed nujabes (rip), whose jazz-infused hip-hop style inspired me on many levels and whose passing encouraged me to re-evaluate the lack of jazzy goodness and phat beats in my own songwriting style. the crackle in the beginning represents x as he slowly regains consciousness after the fight with sigma, and the title comes from x's self-doubt and perpetual search for truth amidst the carnage caused by the eurasia crash and the loss of his partner zero. hope you all enjoy source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xhmlaWQ3lk

Brandon concludes, "Any time I get the opportunity to make fun of WillRock for being British in a public setting, I'm happy. That's enough for me to justify giving him remixer credit for this song. Nah but really, these two goofballs took a good song and made it better. They're like Jude from that old Beatles song. WillRock also did a ridiculous solo near the end that is completely over-the-top. Halc has a style that most of us probably couldn't replicate, so it's a real treat to hear the song redone in his style. The original version of this song is up on Youtube now ( ) and it's definitely worth checking out if you like halc's version. The original has a few more riffs, and all the parts in their original context." -

Stylistically, it's the same as my previous submission (polyrhythmic metal and death metal). I completely re-recorded the song from scratch and went for a completely over-the-top modern/ultra heavy sound. The song has a slightly different arrangement, so it shouldn't have the same "copy/paste" feel as it did before. Hope you guys enjoy! All drums were programmed via EZDrummer through Sony Acid, then sound replaced w/ Slate Trigger. Guitars were recorded with an 8 string guitar (tuned to dropped Eb) being played through an ENGL Fireball 60W head, into 2 VHT Fatbottom 4x12 cabinet (one with p50E's and one with V30's), mic'd with a Shure SM57 and an Audix I5, in addition to running a clean track through a marshall amp sim in PodFarm. Bass was recorded direct through a TechNYC SansAmp Bass Driver, then ran into PodFarm. I used Izotope Ozone3 for mastering.

Super awesome arrangement here, once the chorus hits, it's all smooth source sexiness. Great vocal takes, solid harmonies, and the backing track is really good as well. Pads fill out the back nicely, and the piano provides a subtle counter-melody. My one concern is that the original melodies are a little prominent in the verses, but it's still apparent throughout that it's the metal man theme. Overall solid stuff, Malcos is a singing sensation, and Zircon was still awesome even 4 years ago, when I was just a scrub trying to figure out how to make phat beatz online. Yes -

This was very difficult to wrap my head around, sourcewise, since it is such a departure from the original. There is a ton of interpretation (maybe too much, in some cases), but after listening to the source track until I had it memorized, and the helpful breakdown provided, I was able to sus out that the main melodies were present throughout. I do think a section that featured the melody and original chord progression just for a bit would help ground the source in the listener's ear though. Production was definitely a step up from your previous work, but still was a little generic. I think as you learn your software you'll come more into your own, as you are already making good progress. It's really close for me, but I think this is just below the bar. You are definitely making gains though, and I think with a little more work, this would go over for me. No, please resubmit -
The treble is overhyped in this track- it's feeling to me like an old school DJP track in it's ability to stab my ears. THe sounds generally sound over-compressed as well. Might want to tone that down a bit. :/ The feel of the track is pretty fun, though it's a pretty basic feel for most of the duration. The breakdown to the wah guitar was pretty cool, and the sounds generally were working, but it seemed like the track didn't really have a huge climax. ALso, the intro felt a bit long, even though new elements kept getting added. I dunno, I guess i'm not really sure why i'm feeling lukewarm on this track, because there are some sick parts, like the stuttering right before the wah breakdown. I think the arrangement passes muster, but that compression needs to be toned down, and that high end synth needs some eq. Easy fixes. No, please resubmit

Orchestral balance was a little weird at first, with the melody being drowned out by the strings, and then once the rock came in, the melody was soo altered in almost every iteration that It didn't feel the same at all. by linking out the source, it kindof makes sense, but even as is, it's more like an original track with some vague references to the source, rather than a ReMix. Production is decent, though the sequencing on the orchestral bits was pretty mechanical. The rest was decent, but it definitely needs a more dominant use of the source. No, please resubmit

Production is sick as usual on this, you've really stepped up your game the last few years, dude, no crits there at all. The arrangement has a lot of nice little references to the source, and at first I thought it was a little on the liberal side, but as I listened, it was more obvious that there were hints and snippets of the melody and recognizable backing parts throughout. Nice builds and breaks, and even though it's more of a club style ending, intended to be mixed with other tracks rather than a radio edit style that OCR prefers, it's pretty solid stuff. Nice work. A pretty good melodic interpretation, and definitely some expansion on the source, with a new and improve chord progression, and an improved flow over the original. Synthwise, it's not really breaking new ground, but the soundscape is full and clean, and there is a good variety of meshing sounds. Arrangement features a lot of really nice additional parts, and a logical expansion of the melody, with some especially nice percussive textures. Some of the transitions were a little rough, like right around the mid way point, and it never felt like the track really peaked and went into overdrive (though the keychange section was pretty close to that), but overall it was pretty good as far as builds and breaks are concerned. I do think the track went a little long, however, and could stand to be edited down a little bit. The ending was creative, but seemed to go a little long. Overall it's a really close call on this one. The arrangement aspect is there, but it goes a little long, and the production is good but not amazing. It is definitely better than a mediocre track, but I think it is just barely lacking the power and punch that it needs to really stand out. Probably the most chippy song i've heard from Will, and it works pretty well, though I can't help but think it could have been taken a little further. The breakdown was really cool, and the arrangement was solid, but it seemed a little on the lofi end. I think the arrangement carried it well enough, but some higher fidelity sounds would have helped it along. The use of SFX as percussion, while not a new idea, worked really well here, and gave it a lot more interest than it'd otherwise have. Close call for me, but Yes -

Remixer: Willrock Name Of Remix: Clockwork Criminal Game Remixed: Sonic The Hedgehog (1991) Sources Remixed: Scrap Brain Zone Source: Comments: I was a little late to finding out about the sonic 1 project and as a result all the tracks were taken when found out about it. However, due to some fortune scrap brain zone was put up for claiming and halc came to me and asked me if I'd like to claim it. This remix started when I grabbed alot of sonic sfx samples and started to mess around with them to form a basis for my drum groove. From there I just let the music flow out and came up with something pretty funky compared to the original which is probably a something between michael jackson, streets of rage music and added chiptune elements.
