  1. This is pretty fun, but it doesn't really lend itself to being arranged that well as far as OCR is concerned. THe modulated section was cool, and I think it's very interesting, but I don't think it fits OCR. No
  2. Great source, I really like it. The production is pretty full, but the reverb feels very excessive to me, to the point that a lot of the clarity of the melody is not working, and things are hard to discern. The arrangement itself is pretty cool; nice and expanded, but it's too hard to hear anything right now with all the reverb. No, please resubmit
  3. Yeah, that piano sequencing is not doing you any favors, and the melody is really buried and pushed back. Once it gets doubled, it's a lot better, and I am definitely feeling the arrangement and expansion here. It remains to be seen if the sequencing and production is good enough for a pass, though; as it skirts the line pretty close. The added counter melody lines are really nice, and the clicky percussion during the B section was interesting and cool, and the transition back to the chorus was very nice. The ending was solid as well. It's close, and I do think the sequencing could be better, but based on the style and arrangement strengths, I feel the song as a whole got there. Yes (though cutting it close )
  4. The rain SFX are definitely in need of coming down; they are overpowering everything, and because of that, it's difficult to get a feel for how the soundscape is actually sitting, because it is forcing the whole track to be overcompressed. I think the bass needs to come down in volume and maybe an octave as well, and even after the rain fades, the whole track is way too compressed. I think bringing things down overall will give a more accurate sound to this; the arrangement is sounding good, but the production needs a good deal of work. No, please resubmit
  5. Plays it close to the source overall, but offers a new soundscape, and some new counterpoint ideas. The balance overall worked pretty well, and the more intense tempo and transitions are nice. Overall it is close on the arrangement side, but I feel it's personalized enough, and the production is passable. I dig it. Yes
  6. I laughed ridiculously hard here, the references throughout were amazing back then, and they are amazing now. I think the production aspects of a lot of this is holding it back though; the sections with the crabcore were pretty solid, and the bittersweet melancholy of the linkin park breakdown was good, but a lot of other sections felt crowded in the mids. Arrangement-wise, I think it could actually work, but the transitions right now are really limited, and in some cases, non-existent. I think the track is excellent for a joke track, but needs some additional polish to get on OCR. No
  7. Some of the weaknesses from the first sub are still present, like some slightly stiff sequencing, but the soundscape is definitely feeling better. I enjoyed the first one, and definitely feel this is a step up. Whether or not the other J's will be coo with the rigid timing remains to be seen, but I did feel that overall this was over the bar. Yes
  8. looks really good to me, and i'll probably check it out eventually, but I really wish it was multiplayer. Unreasonable demands, i know. v__v
  9. now sure how i missed this, but tekken is probably the worst game I have ever played, so maybe with street fighter in there, it'll be fun.

  11. Dear OC Remixers, I submitted an earlier version of this track a few months ago, and was told it was a little sparse and the background tracks were too quiet. So here is a remastered version, with added accompaniment on guitar. The track is an arrangement of two tracks from The Guardian Legend, "Forest Sector" and "Crystal Corridor", set to lyrics and piano and flute accompaniment. The vocals you hear are my own voice, the instruments were played on synthesizer. Normally, I'd come up with a catchy re-mixer name (as I did in my last submission), but because this is more along the lines of other songwriting projects of mine, I'd prefer for continuity's sake if it was attributed to my real name: Jude Coulter-Pultz. Thanks for your time and consideration! Jude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BInNBrC59v8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJYdiRj_eQo
  12. ⦁ Pyro Paper Planes ⦁ Christopher Foss ⦁ http://www.youtube.com/user/PyroPaperPlanes ⦁ 25144 ⦁ Metroid Prime ⦁ Lone Star ⦁ Epilogue, Ending Staff Roll "Lone Star" ⦁ Composed by Kenji Yamamoto, Kouichi Kyuma ⦁ http://vgmdb.net/album/412 Comments: I can remember that, as a child, when I first sat down in front of a piano, the only song I wanted to play was the menu theme from Metroid Prime. Of course, I expanded my musical horizon over the years, but the Metroid series never quite left my heart. And just as I have grown, the Metroid series still lives on as strong as ever. It's hard to believe that the Metroid series is now 25 years old now. So, for this special day, I decided to celebrate by arranging this piano solo, in dedication to the childhoods of the many who loved (and hopefully still love) the Metroid series like I do. The track was close to being scrapped more times than I would like to think. Originally, I found the piece too repetitive. To complicate matters, the original track has a complex rhythm and beat, which made it very demanding to perform on a consistent basis. Even after all my work, I wasn't very satisfied with the final mix, feeling that it went on just a little too long for its own good. However, with a bit of convincing from the community, and a lot of magic from The Orichalcon's mixing abilities, I'm very proud of how Lone Star has turned out. Special thanks must be given to the project leaders of "Harmony of a Hunter" (especially Darren), and to my friends, as the song would never have been finished if it wasn't for their help and kind words. [On a side note, thank you for your time in reviewing my submissions. It means a lot. -Chris] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPttu5qZ38w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz5-zGeW_eY
  13. Remixer Name: TheGuitahHeroe Songs arranged: "Bubble Man Stage" (Mega Man II) ( ) and "Pump Man Stage"(Mega Man 10) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iejDSxOMBE) Remix Name: "Bubbling Adrenaline" This was my second round entry for the GRMRB 2011, for which I had to mix Bubble Man (my robot master) and Pump Man (Starphoenix's robot master). Unfortunately, Starphoenix was unable to finish his mix due to time restraints, so I won the round by default. But yeah, this was probably what I consider to be my most creative mix out of the four I made for the competition. I wanted something really different for this one, and the first thing that popped into my head was '7/4 time sig.' I was surprised by how well it worked with the trance atmosphere I had going. This is definitely my most liberal mix ever, so I'll provide a source breakdown for this one ___________ Source 1 = Bubble Man; Source 2 = Pump Man for reference [source 1 --*:00 - :04*] = [Remix --*:45 - :49*; *:52 - :58*; *3:02 - 3:08*] ________ [source 1 --*:11 - :21*] = [Remix --*1:09 - 1:21*] ________ [source 1 --*:22 - :32*] = [Remix --*1:26 - 1:33*; *1:39 - 1:49*; *2:20 - 2:27*; *2:33 - 2:44*] ________ [source 1 --*:33 - :37*] = [Remix -- *3:19 - 3:22*; *3:56 - 3:58*; *4:03 - 4:08*] [source 2 -- *:00 - :13*] = [Remix -- *1:26 - 1:52* (sorta with the arpeggios, lol, probably not actual source usage)] ________ [source 2 -- *:14 - :26*] = [Remix -- *1:53 - 1:59*; *2:07 - 2:12*; *3:10 - 3:18*; *3:39 - 3:54*; *4:09 - 4:11*] ________ [source 2 -- *:27 - :39*] = [Remix -- *2:00 - 2:06*; *2:13 - 2:17*; *3:23 - 3:25*] ________ [source 2 -- *:40 - :53*] = [Remix -- *2:27 - 2:39* (overlaps BM usage from 2:33 to 2:39); *4:27 - 4:33*] TOTAL USAGE: [:46 - :49] (4), [:52 - :58] (7), [1:09 - 1:21] (13), [1:26 - 1:33] (, [1:39 - 1:49] (11), [1:53 - 2:17] (25), [2:20 - 2:44] (25), [3:02 - 3:08] (7), 3:10 - 3:25] (16), [3:39 - 3:54] (16), [3:56-3:58] (3), [4:03 - 4:11] (9), [4:27 - 4:33] (7). 4+7+13+8+11+25+25+7+16+16+3+9+7 = 151 seconds out of total 297 seconds = 50.8% source usage BOO-YAH!! Hope you guys dig the mix
  14. Hello Judges, here is my first OC submission. Your ReMixer name: Lidawg Your real name: Liam Charalambous Your email address: charalambousl@gmail.com Your userid: 45748 Name of game(s) arranged: Final Fantasy X Name of arrangement: The Dreamer Departs Name of individual song(s) arranged: To Zanarkand (also called At Zanarkand) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmzZrj-cLSc (link to the original, just in case) Comments: The first time I played FFX I fell in love with the soundtrack, so much so that I have played To Zanarkand endlessly on the piano. I've not been doing remixes or music production long, but I knew that I wanted my next remix attempt to be this piece. The aim was to go for a chilled and ambient remix, but over the weeks it gradually kept changing more and more into something I don't know how to define. I've played and studied classical music my whole life, so I think this was an attempt to try and translate the scale and textures of orchestral music to a different genre. I don't know if anyone who hears this would say that I succeeded but hopefully this is a piece people can sit back and enjoy. Regardless as to whether this gets accepted, I would like the judges to know that I am very grateful to DJMystix and Guifrog, Monobrow along with the Workshop mods who took the time to listen and give me feedback. It was really encouraging and stopped me just ditching this remix when I couldn't get things to work as I wanted. I hope you enjoy
  15. Artist/Full Name: Luke Keever website: none forum ID: 20803 Game: Mega Man 2 (Game Boy) Source Tunes: Wood Man's Stage Remix title: Will of the Forest This was originally a song I did maybe a year and a half ago for a compilation album that Jakesnke17 was doing on another website. I always have enjoyed the arrangement itself and wanted to sub it to OCR, but I've never really found it ready for the site up until now. I've always touched up the song bit by bit over the past year, and decided I could give a submission a shot. As for why I chose this specific song, I simply find this to be an unappreciated soundtrack in general, and this is one of the songs on the soundtrack that stuck out to me most. Enjoy. -- Luke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kQio0HqHm0

This is my fourth submission! I've recently discovered--the discovery was purely coincidental, of course--that I have about 40 weeks worth of ReMixes, and it's been almost a year since my last submission, so I'd better get started! THIS SONG IS PART OF THE DONKEY KONG COUNTRY 3 PROJECT! So no touchy until the project is out. Here's the writeup for my track: "This song was quite a challenge for me, since I'd never written a cartoon-chase song before (or done a cartoon-chase remix, for that matter). The Jungle Jitter track was the only one still available when I checked the project thread. I suppose you could say that it was taunting me, so I claimed it. The simplistic character of the source track allowed me to experiment and improvise quite a lot. I usually don't use much xylophone and marimba in my work (since they sound a little too wacky for my usual soundtrackish sound), so this was a chance to go wild with instruments I rarely use. That's always a plus. Anyway, I've had a lot of fun remixing this track and I'm honored to be a part of the project team. " When listening to this track, people will most likely picture two wacky apes running through the jungle and avoiding all kinds of traps, bees and crocodile mutants, and that's what I did as well. The last part of the track (from 2:45 onward) is my favorite. I like to think that's when our two primate protagonists really get in trouble, and a stampede of kremlings starts chasing them through the jungle, with Dixie shouting: "Hurry up, Kiddy!" and Kiddy running as fast as possible and then suddenly stopping and casually grabbing a nearby banana at 2:57, only to continue the wild escape through the undergrowth. I'd also like to point out that Emunator has been the nicest project director ever. I hope he at least gets a couple of unofficial brownie points for that!
  17. yeah the politics I found to be a bit dull, but overall the book was solid. Was most interested in Bran's storyline, and the red priest stuff. Seems like a big showdown is gonna happen there, as they don't seem to really be on the best terms.
  18. decent soundscape, but I think it did feel a bit generic, and definitely repetitive. I think overall this is really close, because there is some good interpretation, but it is lacking that little extra push to get it over the top. No, please resubmit
  19. oop, forgot to update that. *disclaimer* I reserve the right to lie about any and all tracks on this project. It's even possible that this whole thing is an elaborate prank, and nothing exists at all.
  20. For this track, the production was a little washed out, and some of the flute sequencing was very mechanical, but I liked what the mix was going for. It could definitely use more energy overall, and when the drums come in, it felt better, and I liked the unique snare sound. The mechanical sequencing was pretty rough though in some spots, especially the flute. Overall it's way borderline for me, because I enjoy the arrangement so much, but I think for OCR you'll need to humanize the sequencing a bit more. Super close though. No, please resubmit
  21. I think the guitars themselves are decent, but there are several sections where the bass isn't playing, which is causing them to sound thin. The drums are a little too heavy in the mix as well, making them sound huge, but the rest of track weak and small. Some of the lead playing is a little bit out of tune, and on the held notes you will want to use some vibrato. I agree with Deia's assessment of the soundscape, though I think bringing down the drums and having them matching the rest of the track would help that a good deal. Humanizing the synth will also help. The good news is that you are getting better with each submission, and Parts of this, like the solo, I was really into. Keep at it, man, you are almost there! No, please resubmit
  22. This is a really intelligently arranged orchestral mashup, with the themes fitting together very well. The sequencing and samples are pretty good, with the flute solo being very fluid. My only nitpick is that I would have preferred it to go out with a massive flourish, but the more subdued ending does work very well. I think this is really well done; great concept and solid execution. Yes
  23. Way too much reverb, dude. It's a total cacophony with all of the reverb, and a lot of the drums are not mixed quite right, with the snare being overpowering, and not enough melodic percussion included. I do think that an all-percussive idea could definitely work with this source, but the mixing needs to have a stronger foundation, you need way less reverb, and the harmonies need to be fleshed out for it to remain interesting. Good luck, I hope to hear a resub of this, because the concept is very nice. No, please resubmit
  24. Some of the sequencing is a touch mechanical, but overall I was really feeling the energy of this, and the percussion intro and breakdown were super exciting. The segues were pretty tasteful. As for the samples/sequencing, though the sequencing could definitely feel more natural, and some of the woodwind instruments felt a little thin, and the guitar fakey, the rest were solid, and overall the soundscape gelled. I think a little more subtle panning throughout would feel good, and more care put into the sequencing, but I think that overall this just squeaks by. Yes
  25. This is a really nice mix; good expansion while remaining completely true to the source, and a great soundscape and excellent variety. Really strong stuff, I loved this one. Yes
