  1. A fun and pretty unique take on the source. If there was a single source that i'd have imagined to be completely METAL'ed out from FF1, it was this one, and then I get this curveball. The style works very well, and reminds me a bit of ilp0's work. The sound is a touch over compressed, and could use a touch more headroom, but I think it works out well enough. The only sequencing that struck me as a bit off was the fast organ runs sounding too perfected and mechanical, but overall it was a small issue. I do think it could have been expanded and lengthened a touch more, but with the added bridge and unique instrumentation, i'm more than fine passing this. Yes
  2. Pretty cool filtered intro, usually when this sort of effect is used, it hits really hard right after the build, but I liked how it was a little more subdued, and featured a touch of additional filtering after the fact. Overall, once this gets going, it coasts for the duration, but has a really nice melding of the three themes that feels very seamless. Overall I really like this, but it needs to continue to progress once it's started. A pretty strong candidate for a resub, IMO. No, please resubmit
  3. gonna agree with pretty much everything snappleman has said here; good tone is good tone, it doesn't matter where it comes from, and technology is such that if you know what you are doing, you can get incredible tone. Unfortunately for me, I am running guitar rig 2 and more importantly I am terrible at adjusting it, so I am stuck with mediocre tone, but it's not like I don't try. Also playing passages on an acoustic guitar will almost always be more difficult than an electric.

  6. Hello there, This remix was created for Around the World, the 'Super Dodge Ball' project directed by KyleJCrb and Murmeli Wallan. I've been on OCR for a couple years now, but this is my very first individual submission to the panel. It's an ethnic arrangement of the 'Team China' theme, aiming to transport the listener to the far-east. In a temple, up in the mountains or along the riverside. You never know when the next dodgeball match is gonna break out. PROJECT TRACK ReMixer name: Dj Mokram userid: 28433 Game arranged: Super Dodgeball (Nekketsu Kōkō Dodgeball Bu) Song arranged: Team China Arrangement name: 6 Dodgeballs and a Lotus Flower Original Composer: Kazuo Sawa System: NES Comment: This remix was one of my first foray into VG remixing, as well as one of my first experimentation with ethnic arrangement. In order to make this sound authentic, I've used instruments (and percussions) from the east-asian folklore (Pipa, Ban Di, Dizi, Guzheng and Ehru). The song is often carried by some fast-paced breakbeats, but the bassline is played by a Ruan here, not a traditional bass. This arrangement was inspired by Drunken Masters II, one of my favorite martial-art movies, starring chinese action star Chan Kong-sang. Lastly, I wanna thank the folks at KNGI (and most notably evktalo, mad props to him!) who helped me complete this mix through their feedback and critique. It's intimidating to sub after well-known artists such as Dhsu and Avaris, have each done ample justice to this theme in the past. But hopefully, this interpretation has a simple charm that can set it apart from the previously posted remixes. Hope you'll enjoy and thank you very much for your time. Source link:

I agreed, of course, and promptly put everything off until the very last possible minute. When faced with an impending deadline, this is what I came up with--a frenetic, cheesy, happy hardcore remix of the chosen theme. OCR only has about what, two happy hardcore mixes in the history of EVER, right? I figure there's a void what needs fillin'. Uh, yeah. This mix, or more specifically its title--most of the players of Headdy I've run into (me not being one of them, per my usual lack of classic gaming experience) know the character to which this theme belongs as "Maruyama." However, a quick Wikipedia search revealed that his American release name is actually "Trouble Bruin." The pun was too obvious NOT to make. Hope you dig it okay thanks bye. -- www.flexstylemusic.com Source:

  9. hello!! this is a remix of Cherry Blossom Wind Dance from Shenmue. i've never played shenmue but i came across the soundtrack a while back and was struck by the cinematic over-the-top-japaneseness of it. thought this track in particular would make a good basis for a nujabes/bonobo type track soooo i did. hope you like it special thanks to emunator for his feedback & encouragement during this arduous process :]
  10. Remixer: TheGuitahHeroe Game: Mega Man II and VI Songs: 'Bubble Man Stage' ( ) and 'Wind Man Stage' ( )Title: "Blowin'em Outta the Water" (that is spelled correctly) This was my entry for the first round of the Grand Robot Master Remix Battle headed by Darkesword. I remember having a lot of fun with this one, despite it being the first time I had ever remixed a theme that I did not want to remix The round itself was a very close match between Gario and me; our mixes were pretty much perfectly evenly matched, but the votes were slightly in my favor. I really hope you guys get a sub letter from him soon with his mix as well That's pretty much all I have to say really, it's a bit happy compared to my other stuff, but I hope you guys dig nonetheless

Mega Man 10: Hey all, this is my 2nd submission for OCRemix, just wanted to go into a little bit of a backstory I guess. This one was my entry for the Grand Robot Master Remix Battle: Round 1. I originally had Quick Man as my source but...there was an error in the listing between who got what, so I ended up with Snake Man. This is also my 2nd time remixing the same source, only this time with other sources (Quick Man included, even though, it's only a second long). Spent a lot of time on this one and I think in the end it sounded kinda cool, only problem being I had to sacrifice audio quality for the length of the song. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy.
  12. Remixer name: Brent Wollman User ID: 41181 Game arranged: Crysis 2 Name of Arrangement: Inescapable Destruction Name of individual songs arranged: Epilogue The game is on Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. The soundtrack is here: http://www.last.fm/music/Inon+Zur/Crysis+-+Original+Game+Soundtrack The problem is that I'm not sure if the track I remixed ( ) is on the soundtrack under a different title or something. Most of the soundtrack was done by Inon Zur, but I'm pretty sure the track that I remixed here is by Hans Zimmer. After getting my last sub rejected, I decided to back off and hone my skills for a while before trying again. This time I'm pretty confident that I can make the cut. I was going for a dark sounding blend of industrial electronica and hard rock. A bit like Nine Inch Nails sometimes. The mix may be a little conservative at times, but I believe there is ultimately plenty of interpretation on the source. I hope you all enjoy it!

It was originally inspired purely by Lee Jacksons “Grabbag” from the PC version of Duke Nukem 3D (which I use to play a lot). During production I discovered Megadeth had already done a cover of it, and thus started listening to it and becoming inspired. Some non-musician types might think this is just the Megadeth version with a solo, but I assure you it’s anything but. On closer inspection you will find that the vast majority of the composition is inspired much more directly from the original and shares only minor relation to Megadeth's. There are only a few small passages that are clearly influenced by Megadeth's cover, and they are still further altered to be unique. Even the original grab bag influences on close inspection have alterations to some of the chord structures and plenty of additional instrumentation and phrasing alterations. Then there are my own completely original passages added on top of everything to really set it apart. The quality of the entire mix has vastly improved in this HD remake to be much more on par with today’s musical standards. This was an enormous challenge to produce this track and I’m very pleased with the results. Enjoy!

  16. ok, yeah, I definitely facepalmed when I saw all the sources. However, this is actually pretty good. The lead guitar is definitely fakey, but it feels charming to me rather than annoying, maybe because of the rest of the track being synthetic as well. The solo was tastefully sequenced and the arrangement of each section was minimal, but there was a lot of personal flair, and solid flow between themes. Really enjoyed this, very nice arrangement that easily overcomes the guitar lead sound. Yes

I initially wanted to do a remix for "Elemental Master". Despite of having one of the best sound track of it's time, I could not find different tunes from the game to merge together so I had to a look elsewhere. It's primarily Stage 1 remix but then what's an "Elemental Master" remix without the awesome intro music? After that, I decided to extend it with Eternal Champions title theme which I thought would fit in perfectly. But I needed a very powerful ending to make the mix memorable for the listener because I know not many people are familiar with Elemental Master (and to some extent Eternal Champions as well). Although I would totally agree with the argument that Time's Scar deserves standalone mix but once again, I believed it would make my mix's ending perfect. So that's how I ended up with these sources. As for the style, you probably know by now that I love to experiment with different genres; so it's basically 80's Rock met 90's Hiphop and they hanged out with today's RnB. I hope I made it unusual enough to sound fresh............ and likable. If you accept this mix, I request you accept it for Elemental Master. That game deserves more attention because it was not only a great game but has an amazing soundtrack. Chrono Cross needs no introduction and OCR already has some Eternal Champions mix. Anyway, I'll leave it up to you guys to decide on that.
  18. This is a pretty cool arrangement of the themes, though the mixing isn't quite right. It feels like there is a *ton* of headroom in here, which makes it sound not as powerful as it could. The balance seems overall pretty good, but it's just so quiet. The drum programming is excellent and varied, and the guitar performance overall is good, The keyboard ideas are tasteful, and overall I really enjoyed it, but the production needs to be normalized to clear out all that excess headroom. Please resubmit this, it's really good. No, please resubmit

  20. Some cool filtering ideas here, Though the sequencing is a bit mechanical. The drums seem pretty generic and lack energy, but the added solos and stuff are awesome, really nice work there. The ending is completely non-existent, however, and makes it feel pretty cheap. The track does feel a bit repetitive, due to the source, but there is a lot of subtle stuff going on to keep it feeling like it has a sense of direction. It's definitely borderline, due to the ending and sequencing, ut I feel this brings enough new to the table in the form of intelligent arrangement additions to warrent a yes. Yes

As he joined my own project, I decided to give him some help with Dynamite Headdy and claimed one of the few last tracks. I decided to make some ethnic/orchestra stuff with a lot of percussions (6 different percussion tracks were done), with the concept of "bosses around the world". I did it in 2 or 3 days and it was accepted after a small revision in the project. Thanks to my good friend Dj Mokram for his time and feedback, and for accepting me aboard! The remix's title is also an idea of M. Mokram! I hope everything's okay! Have a great day! -Alex
  22. From the original submission, I'm glad you removed the intro, it's much better as is. The source is apparent, but it feels completely buried severely undulating levels of various synths. The synth sounds chosen are good, but the levels of volume seem strange to me, as suddenly it feels that certain elements jump out completely for 2-3 notes, and then are gone. It would make more sense if they all fit inside the soundscape, but a few randomly seem completely dry and pasted on top. Some of the synth execution is a little off too, frequently not quite matching the beat, or not quite clicking. I can tell a lot of work was put into all of the effects and personalization, but it sounds like a lot of separate elements rather than a cohesive soundscape. Arrangement-wise, the drums are pretty much on autopilot the entire time, and act as a timekeeper rather than a rhythmic driving force or something interesting to listen to. There are a few minor fills spread out, but overall it's a lot of the same. The source is completely shredded up and sprinkeled around. There are plenty of flashes of recognition, but often it feels like a track that just has references of the theme added, no matter how frequent. I think the source use would be bettter off to be more of a central element rather than a series of background events that is mostly obscured by the overly loud bass. I'm going to vote No, resub on this, but perhaps some other judges will hear things differently.
  23. Definitely a sparse piece. I actually think that overall the piece is too thin and empty sounding. There is very minimal textures with the bell, and then just some string chords. You really stripped out a lot of the overal melodic content for most of the arrangement, which definitely works as a mood piece, but as a song i'd want to listen to a lot, I think it needs to be filled out more. I also think that in spots where a lot of the melody is missing, the connection to the source isn't nearly as dominant as it needs to be. Some of the string articulations feel very slow to me, especially near the end where it is just a unison string line and some bells. The overall room sound is fine, and the dynamic curve is there, but it goes from merely quiet to incredibly quiet. I like the concept and overall idea of this, but I think it needs to be filled out more, and incorporate more dominant, melodic source. No, please resubmit
  24. The source for this is very difficult to piece together. There are some parts where it seems very clear, but for most, I am just not hearing it in a dominant fashion. Performance is decent, but it seems that there is a lot of right hand rhythmic singularity that grates after awhile. There are seriously was too many 16ths throughout, and they are relentless. Consider the earth struck. The piano sound itself sounds like there is too much reverb, and there were are few voicings that didn't really feel right, with a few sour notes. I like the fact you are covering some uncharted territory, but this needs a good deal of work for my tastes. No
