  1. Your real name: Justin Jones Your website: derp Your userid: 5151 Name of game(s) arranged Doom 2 Name of arrangement The Overwhelming Dead Name of individual song(s) arranged : Running from Evil (I guess, iono) Your own comments about the mix, for example the inspiration behind it, how it was made, etc. -Always loved the DOOM soundtracks, and knew I'd get around to them one day. I don't think I'm done with them either. When I ought a Pod HD500 I figured I'd give this song a try to demo some new sounds; after finishing it, it sat 6 months in a completed state before I finally decided I was unhappy with the way the HD500 sounded. Plugged in my old Pod XT and rerecorded the entire thing with my usual patches -- albeit slightly tweaked to eliminate fizz in my previous tunes. This makes the OCR version almost completely different from my youtube version; including band new riffs. Only three parts still exist using the HD500; the intro sound effects were actually an octaver set down ridiculously low, and the low B on my 7 string tuned down to G or something. I hit random notes on it and scraped the string to get the ambient sound effects; I almost envision it as the sound a deserted ancient ship would make deep within its hull. The others consist of the very first distorted guitar riff (before the death scream) and the clean guitar during the spoken dialogue. I actually have no idea what patch I used for the clean and I am sadface because it's my favorite clean I've ever had. Bonus points to whomever can ID the spoken word dialogue without using google.
  2. I gotta agree here, betwen the leads and the distortion, this needs some work. There are definitely some great elements, but the song needs to have the weaknesses shored up before this can pass. No, please resubmit
  3. A pretty solid mix, with a good arrangement, and some decent use of voice samples. I loved the synth soloing and lot of the transitions, but there were several production choices that seemed really odd to me, most notably the hard panned bass for most of the track. I do think the shifting panned leads work amazingly well, especially with the vocal clips, really giving this an incredible feeling of a dogfight. A++ on concept. The production seems a little scooped, with the mids missing in some cases, and with the high end of the percussion a little bit overhyped. Some of the synths felt a little generic as well, but when they are definitely not doing generic things, it works out in the end. Overall, with a few production tweaks, this would be a strong contender, I think. No, please resubmit
  4. Pretty cool ideas throughout, though the song is based primarily on the original chords, with not much of the main melody. It does make it's appearance, but it's more subdued. I did like the direction and treatment of the track, but it definitely started to get repetitive for the second half. The production was decent, though some cleaning in the low mids would be an improvement, and I think adjusting the compression to not be as crushing would be nice too. Overall some good stuff here, but more variation and some slight production tweaks are needed. More prominent melody would be a bonus, as well. No, please resubmit
  5. Very nice source selection! The sequencing is pretty solid throughout, and the dynamic range is very smooth, and the march format really works with these specific themes. Really can't say much more, but nice work, this was great. Yes
  6. It starts out pretty similar to the original, with upgraded sounds, though there is a little bit of expansion in the middle. Some of the balance was a bit off, with a lot of headroom and a bit of an unfocused sound. It sounds like the mids are really scooped, leaving a lot of strange space. Between this and a very conservative take on the arrangement, I gotta say no to this one. I recommend hitting up the workshop to get some more detailed critiques on this to improve your skills a bit. No

Contact Information DJ EAR Weston Ahern djear.info@gmail.com http://djear.yolasite.com/ 32959 Submission Information Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 Checkpoint ditditdit Intro / Title Theme Alright, so I had been working on a ton of new trax for some upcoming mix albums and hit a roadblock (bad joke). For about 2 weeks nothing - just no inspiration what-so-ever aside from some Vectorman related work... Then, Bam! Like outta nowhere - Greatest Idea. Lotus Turbo Challenge 2. I originally had the game on Genesis and used to spend HOURS trying to avoid those darn oil slicks in fear of the dreaded ditditditditdit of the timer counting down to end the game, until barely hitting the next checkpoint and getting another Time Bonus to try and make it to the next one. So! This is just a little Happy UK-Hardcore remix with some nods to the source material (The ever amazing theme for this game that gets in your head and never goes away). Originally intended to include a DJ Intro/Outro but removed them for more of a [Radio Edit] kind of feel. Much Respect to Barry Leitch who would later grace me with the music from Super Cars II. Please to Enjoy! YEEEEEEHAAAAAWWWW!

Ignyte Tyrone Lobenstock ignyte_cnc@hotmail.com www.youtube.com/DJignyte Super Smash Bro's Brawl (Game Cube) / Star Fox (SNES) Corneria (On both Games) Retro Great-Fox Deathmatch This song is pretty much the result of my mate constantly bugging me to remix the Corneria theme song from Super smash bro's... 4 months later, I created this. With a little inspiration added from one of the most memorable Star Fox themes in-mind, (Corneria City Theme as on the SNES) I found that both songs (although they have the same name) seemed to fit in the same time format and scale and worked perfectly and almost seamlessly as one. A little bit about me as a composer: I've been composing in FL studio for years now, and although being completely self-taught I've managed to produce some pretty-alright songs, released an album on iTunes (Hot'n'Cold) and have a second currently on the way (Caustic Spider). My half-life online consists of Uploading more than just my own original compositions, I also film performances of my songs and a few other songs played by myself on the piano,. In addition, I have created a series of tutorials on youtube; -Creating dubstep Bass-Wobble in FL studio using Sytrus part 1 and part 2 -Making Visualizations in FL studio using ZGame Editor -FLSTutorial Series 1.2 & 1.2, Getting to know your DAW -FLSTutorial Series 2.1 & 2.2, Making noise -FLSTutorial Series 3.1, Effects -FLSTutorial Series 4.1, Automation -FLSTutorial Series 5.1, Completion of a song And film a Blog series called, 'BaD Vlog' (Bored and Driving), the title kinda speaks for itself. I guess that's pretty much me and my effort's in a nut-shell, Thank's for your time and thankyou for the opportunity to submit this song. -Tai ~Ignyte
  10. It sucks a lot, but The Derrit is right here. Just because a game has a vocal minority pledging support on the internet doesn't mean the numbers will line up in such a way that the game will be profitable. How many people have pledged to buy the title? 250k? 500k? I don't know the margins needed for a game at this level to break even these days, but assuming that just because you and your friends are all interested in something that *everyone* is as invested is too anecdotal. Capcom has better metrics for tracking their projected product release catalog than any of us do. I'm sure there are a lot of factors as to why it was cancelled; the departure of Mr. MegaMan, the general under-performance of the 3DS sales, possibly scheduling issues. We'll probably never know.
  11. I like the ice beam - the ability to shoot dudes and them climb them is super fun.
  12. That snare sounds really dead, and though the soundscape seemed really enclosed and crowded, there was some expanse behind it. The issue was that too many elements were pushed up front, so there was crowding. It's especially apparent in the few spots that the horn comes in, though the main synth and the strings are fighting for space at times too. The arrangement seems decently expanded from the original, though the ending just stops, which isn't cutting it at all. Adding a proper ending shouldn't be a huge ordeal and would really help the song. Even a slight fade would be better than the abrupt end. Overall, it's a very nice start, but things need to be given more space. I suggest pushing the synth back a little in the soundscape to give the strings mroe room, and working with reverbs to balance things. No, please resubmit
  13. Definitely an expanded take on the source, but still keeping the same spirit, this features a lot of subtle differences, mostly by bringing the chords and atmosphere forward and diminishing the melody. The sfx were generally tasteful, and the additional rhythms and countermelodies were pretty strong. Though the melody is gone for a lot of this, the rest of the track is very aparent, and though the second hawk cry was a bit much, and I'd prefer more melodic sections, this was well put together with good production, pretty nice sequencing, and an overall classy presentation. Yes
  14. I remember being really impressed by the graphics of the PS1 when I first saw this game in action back in the day. Anyways, this is a pretty fun rollicking mix, that rocks and features a pretty good soundscape. The backing instruments are really fun, and the slide guitar is a nice touch. The banjo sequencing is a touch mechanical, but it is mixed well enough that it's not a issue. Good variation in all the parts, and overall I enjoyed it. Yes
  15. I think super metroid was my favorite metroid. Has anyone played the gamecube ones? I heard they were good too.
  16. dude, i thought we were going to keep that night between us?
  17. A pretty good expansion of the theme overall, though some of the synth choices are straight up weird. I guess it makes sense for a Garfield mix. The attention paid to the details is pretty great, and even though the mixing could have been a little more balanced, and the production cleaner, the overal feel of this is solid and pretty polished. I dig it. Yes
  18. Nice source! I am a little disappointed that the awesome melody from the original was fragmented so much, though, and that just the first phrase of the main melody is played. Technically the source is throughout, but I don't really like how it was treated in a lot of ways. The rest of the track was nice, and the bass was excellent, and when the melody actually hit, it was great, but there was too much teasing for too little payoff. :/ The opening synth was a little harsh in some frequencies, and overall a lot of the track felt really strongly compressed. The synths and soundscape all worked together well enough, but everything being pushed so hard hurt the sound. Overall I think you have something that's very close to passing, as the arrangement (though annoying to me with the constant melodic teasing) is creative and works, but the over-compression is hurting things. I'd adjust the mixing a bit and send it back, this is very close, IMO. No, please resubmit

I had just learned how to play with music, severely put down by the rejection, I decided I would no longer need anyone's approval for my music to be considered "worthy". I have decided to re-submit this song in it's new form 5 years later, having almost 10 versions in-between the original submission and this final form. This re-submission is a symbol of my own constitution to not care what anyone thinks in any aspect. Social roles people act upon, simply because they were taught to. I will not abide by this, the world is my own.

Name: Arceace Real name: Ben Clifton Email address: jugglemon312@yahoo.com Game: Sonic 3D Blast (Sega Genesis version) Title: Enigmatic Melody Original track: Rusty Ruin Link: I've never actually liked this particular Sonic game. The only reason why I liked playing it was because of the music. I would often play until I got to this level and listen to the music. While surfing around the internet, I actually came across this song again. I still love it now just as much as when I was a kid. It took quite a few tries to get this arrangement to sound how I wanted it to. But, in the end, it turned out quite well. Enjoy! Arceace
  23. you are joking right? those are like, a largish C cup.
  24. It starts out pretty close to the original with a similar structure and melody, but there are a lot of little details throughout in the track, like the dramatic intro and changed up drums. The B section is also way more filler out with harmonies and is a good changeup from the more sparse verse section. There are a lot of good additions in the drums, and the fills were restrained but interesting and tasteful. I do think a solo would have been really nice, and a little more expansion, but this is a pretty fitting tribute that is personalized just enough for me. The ending was the only straight up weak part; though there was at least something. Yes
