  1. FL is a great program but to be completely honest I feel that Reason and Ableton have a much better workflow and I always get better sounding stuff out of them a lot easier too, but in the end it just depends on the person.
  2. Thats the one thing I can't seem to get down whenever I do anykind of House or Trance is I can't get that snare or clap right that so many artists use in modern trance/house. I've tried creating multiple samples then throwing the pan way out, then adding a whole lotta reverb before compressing them but whenever I do it the snares and claps still generally seem to stand out and not flow with the kicks. Could I be doing something wrong with the kicks? Is there some kinda EQ I need to apply?
  3. Its like if Kid606 or Venetian Snares did VGRemixes, fast, spastic, never letting go, yet still remaining somewhat melodic. Its a miracle among the glitchy madness.
  4. When I saw Jungle Remix I thought "finally, I've been waiting for a decent DnB remix!" Then I realized this isn't DnB/Jungle at ALL. In fact, almost no one here can probably tell me what DnB or Jungle is because this sure as hell ain't it. To be honest this is just a boring remix with a boring amen, I don't see how this got past evaluation.
  5. I mean, everyone has their own style, their own special way of beginning their remixes, how they get influence, etc., so my question for you guys is, how do you start off? This is less an actual question topic and more of a curiousity topic that may be good for newbies to check out to get ideas. Personally, what I do is I get a MIDI file of said track, then I find the major melody line, and an alternate melody line, the save those scores seperately. If either of the melodies is complex or is really epic then I might grab the strings/pad/whatever that help enhance the mood and save that score. I never will take the bassline or drums unless its an essential part of the song (and drums never seem to be). Then, I get a basic progression lined out in my sequencer of melodies (something FLStudio's pattern-based sequencer works well with) and start slapping some drums together. Then I'll make the bass/pad to go along with the melody. Occasionally around halfway through the song I'll create an entirely new melody based off of the notes that already exist in the song. After that its just a matter of what style I was doing, compression, EQ, etc.. So how do you guys/gals start off your remixes?
  6. One of the few remixes that got the remixing part right. This isn't just a retelling, this is a REMIX. It faintly resembles the original, but the original elements override all to get the little bopping original into the rough, distorted, fast world that this song creates. This is one of the few songs that is not only a great remix, but actually a great remix.
  7. Software FLStudio Audacity VSTi's Synth1 (I love this beast of a plug-in) Z3ta+ (Hella complex to learn) String Theory All of the other U-Go VSTi's aaaaaand thats about it, although I have my eye on a Microkorg and I'll probably get a MIDI Controller and a decent soundcard really soon.
