this relies too much on the bass and drums (which are nice)
and it is easy to hear parts where they could have been switched up (2:00-2:30)...the melody doesn't exactly fit
usually i disagree with adding on extra sections to force some sort of variety into a song but like i said this could have easily been developed further
-
i felt the ending could've been elaborated on more...not necessarily into a climax, but just half a minute or so more build up. as it is it creates tension that was otherwise absent but the sudden stop is disappointing.
otherwise, not bad. very pat metheny
-
i experienced enjoyment while hearing this
-
submitted mine...it isn't exactly what i had hoped and it is pretty rough but there it is

kinda wanted to try this but couldn't get to record properly in time...
i'll see if i can get a tolerable recording of something in an hour

thanks for the comments guys
Overall there isn't really any dry element. There needs to be more give and take. Some marcato strings would really well to amp up the energy level. Get the bass line moving more it is pretty static.yeah i know the bass is pretty repetitive, the thing is i want the bass and drums to play off each other so i gotta lay down the drums first before i mess around with the bass too much.
there are marcato strings here though (one for the melody, one "rhythm" violin playing a constant sixteenth note pattern); is it too quiet?

UPDATE: 7/1
thought a guitar solo would be a good way to break the monotony
but i don't have a guitar so used a synth one instead...i think it works pretty well actually
maybe it's just because i'm getting used to the song but the repetition doesn't bother me much anymore.
not there yet but getting close

quick little update, nothing huge though changed the drums in the middle section. everything is still repetitive but at least it has more energy now.

added some voice clips, some incomplete transitions, a sort of ending, etc.

ok so I have spent a lot of time today rewriting the song. The intro is a lot shorter than it used to be. i put in some drums which are just a placeholder for now while i learn to do dnb drums properly (it is the most tedious thing on the planet), but they add a lot of energy to the intro that i think was missing before. And the middle section just repeats a lot for now while I think of ways to make it more interesting without getting too complex.

man this one has been a wip for over a year now it is gettin pretty bad
finally figured out what i want to do with it only trouble is i am a total dnb amateur
the drums that are in there right now are just a placeholder
so really i am just looking for help/suggestions relating to how to make good drums for this mix
there are a bunch of things wrong with the beginning and end parts that i will get around to later i just want to get the middle part done...so really i am not looking for feedback on those parts, although if you do feel so compelled to comment on them feel free

thank you for listening

that's awesome i remember enjoying that song so i'll pick this up one way or another...
-
there are some pretty terrible samples here and the changeups are awkward
but it's so groovy
would be so much better if it wasn't a medley and just stuck with the castle theme and maybe integrated the forest song better
love the ep chords at 0:35
-
pretty good
i haven't had a chance to listen to it properly but i played it once all the way through and that is usually a good sign especially for double discs.
-
hmm i think i will try
-
the bass in the intro is pretty weak but that is fixed up later on
nice use of in game fx
though i really wish the bass didn't cut out at 2:23
the gap in the melody becomes too noticeable...needed more support from the bass i think
wasn't really feelin the ending either
-
reminds me of porcupine tree a little. this is an excellent song not much else to say about it
-
uhh dunno what to say this is pretty weak
serious lack of energy in the vocals, absolutely grating hook, uncreative, unimaginative lyrics...
if it was meant as a joke song it isn't funny, and if it was serious it's not good. we need some higher standard of hip hop around here.
-
yeah this is not bad
good to see some hip hop on this site that isn't treated like a joke
the rapping is pretty good, the guy has good flow and breath control.
i'm really not feelin the beat though. the drums and bass are good but the melody doesn't work for me
hope to see more from you guys maybe with some better source material
-
reminds me of paul lansky's "idle chatter" works
this is not bad
a little too new-agey for me
but very well put together
-
people who think ambience is just downtempo trance would do well to listen to this mix
real ambience, very well done
props
-
the drums are sick
not sure about the rest of this song though...synths sound too similar to the original which i was never really a fan of
one other thing, like rellik said this isn't "experimental"
man people really like abusing genre definitions here
-
get wingless back
-
yeah that worked
weird.
-
-
i don't get the criticisms that there is not enough rearrangement here. this is very well done.
-
too bad it was harmonically thin
i am keeping it anyways

it's not bad but it is just so dang noisy
