  1. Bump to point out that I've listed lots more stuff in the first post.
  2. Can I get an update please, Brad? Please replace the thing I have posted (under For Sale - Computer Music/Electronic Stuff) with this: [ url=http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=930476]VSL SE Winds, HALion Sonic, many other synths and plugins, and tons of NI stuff on an account[ /url], various prices (kanthos) (Updated to show that some of the stuff I've listed has been sold, and it links to a better URL so it's easier for people to find the description of the NI stuff), as well as listing more stuff I just put up.
  3. Yes, definitely. Another great jazz/funk/gospel player is Michael League from Snarky Puppy. Check out this live concert, especially S.D.M. (listen to Binky first if you want to hear the complete song; they do a second ending to Binky and in this concert, they change it into S.D.M. by D'Angelo), and Shofukan, especially around 4:55 when the synth bass comes in. They've also got some good stuff on youtube. For some other examples of his playing, apart from Snarky Puppy, see and .
  4. Just noticed that. Thanks so much! I just finished paying off the M3 Module I bought a few months ago, so I'm hoping to use the sale to get most of the way to a Prophet '08.
  5. Fantastic, I'll give it a shot. EDIT: Hmm, read the Marketplace policies and they're against illegal sales. I suppose I can try anyway though.
  6. Hmm, I hadn't thought of that, good idea. I'd have posted it on VI-Control, but I know they're pretty against illegal sales, and it doesn't help that most of the sample manufacturers have people on staff who are members of those forums. If you think KVR would be more ok with this, though, I'll definitely go for it; can't hurt to post, at least; worst that can happen is someone removes it.
  7. Look at the URL; they're not the same. One has an extra ID, which I'd assume will give him an extra entry as well as giving you one; the other does not. And right in the middle of the page it says you have a chance to win Juggernaut.
  8. Bumping this. I'm willing to make a really good deal for someone on these. Come on, I know someone out there wants to get a kick-ass set of orchestral samples plus NI software.
  9. Get him to prove that the serial number isn't registered to his NI account, probably by showing you a screenshot of the contents of his account, which shouldn't have Alicia's Keys in it.
  10. For the last year or so, I was using Alicia's Keys and NI's New York Grand as the two pianos in my live keyboard rig. Alicia's Keys for the mellower tracks (and sometimes the more up-tempo ones too, because it's just higher quality), and NY Grand when I needed something to really cut through and just have that extra punch. I'm sure I could've tweaked the effects on Alicia's Keys enough to get it where I needed it for probably everything we played, but I wanted the second sound just for some variety. $40 is a steal, and I'd definitely grab this right away.
  11. Heh, definitely not going to. "Into TCGs" right now means "Tries to play Friday Night Magic every two or three weeks at my local shop", plus a bit of Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014. I'm playing plenty of other stuff too, and Hex is the most exciting of all the upcoming TCG things for me.
  12. I'm definitely going to be checking this one out. I'm really getting into TCGs these days.
  13. Here's the details on the NI account mentioned above: None of the products can be removed from the account, so I'm selling the whole account as is. I'm willing to negotiate and will consider reasonable offers. You will get: - Native Instruments account e-mail address and password: download updates and some K8U sample libraries from your NI account using this. - Komplete 8 Ultimate on the USB hard drive it shipped with (see here to see what was in K8U and what you'd get if you upgrade to K9U). Some K8U sample libraries were released after the hard drive shipped, and some were updated after release; you can download all the updates with your NI account. - Native Instruments' B4-II (Hammond B3 Organ plugin): download from the NI account (discontinued, but see here for information) - Project SAM Orchestral Brass Classic (Kontakt sample library): DVDs (see here) - Project SAM account e-mail address and password - LA Scoring Strings 2.0 (aka. LASS 2.0; orchestral string samples for Kontakt): LASS 1 DVDs, plus account info to download LASS 2.0 (see here) - AudioBro (makers of LASS) account username, password, and e-mail address - Spitfire Albion (sectional orchestral samples for Kontakt): Account info to download Albion (see here) - Spitfire Percussion Redux (percussion samples for Kontakt): Account info to download Percussion Redux (see here) Here's a rough cost on buying the components individually: - K8U is discontinued, as Komplete 9 Ultimate is out. It costs $1,000 from Native Instruments, for K8U owners, you can upgrade for $400, so I priced K8U at $600. - B4-II is also discontinued; it was priced on par with Absynth and FM8 when it was still available. Those currently go for $200. - Project SAM Orchestral Brass Classic is currently sold for $270 - LASS 2.0 is currently sold for $1,000 - Spitfire Albion is currently sold for £349 which is roughly $550 CAD (see this for the current conversion rates) - Spitfire Percussion is currently sold for £349 which is roughly $550 CAD This gives $600 + $200 + $270 + $1,000 +$550 + $550 for a total of $3,170, which is roughly what it would cost to buy these plugins and samples new. I'm willing to negotiate on a price, so if you're interested, make me an offer. To save some download time, I can also sell a 120 GB SSD with LASS, Albion, and Spitfire Percussion downloaded and installed on it. All you'll need to do then is add those libraries to Kontakt and add the serial numbers in Native Instruments' Service Centre application, logged in using the account you will buy. The drive is a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe SATA 3, 6 Gb/s transfer speed; it's the drive here. I'll send it your way with LASS/Albion/Spitfire on it for an extra $50, less than half the cost of the drive. If you're not interested, you can always download these samples yourself. Some other details: - I am selling the full account. I cannot remove any individual products from the account, so it's all or nothing. - I will change the account names (where possible), e-mail addresses, and passwords on all the accounts and will send them to you. This means you should be able to upgrade any of the products (especially the NI Komplete 8 Ultimate) should you wish to. - If you're interested and want proof that I have these products, I can send you screenshots of the product list in my NI account plus Audiobro's download manager (the NI screenshots just show LA Scoring Strings and don't make it clear that I've bought the upgrade from LASS 1.0 to 2.0; the download manager does). About the individual accounts: - NI Account: I can change the username (which is the e-mail address) and password, and all other personal information (name and billing address). Product updates and upgrades can be done while logged into the NI account. - Project SAM account: I can change the username (which is the e-mail address), password, and all other personal information. Product updates and ugprades can be done while logged in. - LASS/AudioBro: The username cannot be changed, but the password and e-mail address can; they're used to log into their website/store, forums, and download manager. Use the download manager to get the latest updates, and you can see upgrade pricing while logged in. - Spitfire: There is no actual account; what I got, instead, was an e-mail upon purchase of each product, and another when the products were updated. I will forward those to you, and will set up an auto-forward to send any subsequent e-mails from Spitfire to you as well.
  14. Albion's sectional. There's articulations for high and low woodwinds and high and low strings etc. but not for violins or clarinets by themselves, let alone for one single clarinet. It's good for writing quickly, but limits your choices more than a library that lets you write individually for first and second flute, for example. It's a better library to compliment existing orchestral sample libraries. Here are the differences. I'd go for K9 if I were you. You obviously want to write orchestral stuff, and neither K9 or K9U are going to do a great job of it. The main reason to get any version of Komplete is to get Kontakt and some of the other synths and sample libraries at a good bundled price. Scarbee Vintage Keys is fantastic for electric pianos, you get a selection of moderately good pianos plus Alicia's Keys, which is much better than the rest of them, there are some good drum kits, and so on. If I were you, I'd save your money and not buy K9U. You're probably not going to use much more for basic orchestral work besides the Kontakt library's orchestral stuff (and that only if you have nothing better), and if orchestral is your focus right now, put the money into better orchestral libraries. The only real reason to consider K9U is if you're pretty sure you'll want a lot of the extra instruments: more drum kits, more electric basses, a few more effects, and a few good instruments for cinematic and scoring (Damage and the Evolve products). There's not much that'll help you with basic orchestral work, though. And, the more tools you have, the more options you have (good) and the longer it'll take to master what you own (bad); depending on your personality, not biting off more than you can chew might be the better idea. You can always upgrade to a later version of Komplete Ultimate too, when you're more experienced and can justify spending the money.
  15. Maybe you're different, but in my experience, most people would rather have the best answer, even if they asked the wrong question. I personally have run into situations where I'm asking for help on how to get some detail right in order to do solution x, when solution y is the better solution and I just didn't know about it. This happened a few times when I was trying to figure out how to best use my new keyboard in my live keyboard rig; comments like those you consider unhelpful showed me a better way of doing things, and the end result is better because I listened to what others had to say, even though they weren't answering the specific question I asked them. The real question here, I'd assume, is "What samples do I need, based on my computing power and budget, to make video game OSTs"; unless there's some good reason (which, if there is, GSO hasn't told us) to ONLY focus on one of these two options, suggesting that someone explore a few other choices isn't a bad thing. If she REALLY has a good reason to only consider Garritan or EWQL, she can certainly tell us all what that is; until then, I and almost everyone else want to make sure she's not so focused on solution x that she misses the superior solution y. That said, I'm going to point out some stuff I'm selling. I don't know enough to recommend any orchestral or sectional library in particular over any other, but depending on your budget (and I'm certainly willing to negotiate too), you could walk away with my NI account and get Komplete 8 Ultimate, Spitfire Albion & Percussion, LA Scoring Strings, and Project SAM Orchestral Brass, plus (or separately), I have the VSL SE Winds. The only real drawback would be what happens if you have a NI account with other products on it already, but we could probably make something work; I'd also consider trading my NI account for yours plus some cash if you have a (non-ultimate) version of Komplete, or even just Kontakt. If you're at all interested, let's talk; general opinion is that you can get higher-quality sounds by picking up the right selection of individual libraries than by going for an all-in-one orchestral package.
  16. Bumping to point out that I also have the VSL SE Winds (all four parts) that I could sell as long as I get another eLicenser (so I don't transfer away a few products I'm keeping).
  17. Did you know there's a system as to how prices change from day to day? This describes it, and this is a webpage that will advise you when to sell, if you take the time to write down the price each time it changes.
  18. Heh, don't feel silly. Silly is when you should know the answer and don't, or can't be bothered to look for it, but if you don't know the terms, it's much harder to find what you want. Try this for your automation needs.
  19. I just started playing on Sunday. I'm Kanthos from Ascalon, and we've got us some apples. I haven't really attempted to do anything online yet; I should give it a try.
  20. I don't know FL Studio well, but you can do automation even in the Fruity edition. Modulation just means change; you need to know what you're changing and how. One common way to make modulation happen is with the mod wheel on your keyboard set to control one or more parameters in your synth (or, just make a pattern with automation drawn in by hand if you have no keyboard or other controller). The other common way of doing modulation is an LFO. You know what oscillators are from playing around with synths, right? If not, I'd go find a basic subtractive synthesis tutorial and read it. An LFO is a low-frequency oscillator, an oscillator that is moving at a slow speed, too slow to be within the range of human hearing. Most synths let you use LFOs to control other parameters in the synth; in this case, it's probably the filter cutoff frequency that's being changed at a really slow rate. Also, some synths have an option to make oscillators, and/or LFOs, retrigger each time you play a new note, which is what you described happening with the synth presets you've tried. The alternative, often called something like free-running, means that the LFO runs on its own, continuously, so playing new notes won't affect it. There might also be some kind of "legato" mode, where when you press a key and nothing's sounding, the LFO starts from the beginning of its cycle, but as long as at least one key remains pressed (and not always the same one), you can press and release keys without retriggering the LFO. It all depends on what synth you're using and what it allows you to do, but the synth in the video you linked to sounds like it has an LFO modulating filter cutoff, and the LFO isn't retriggering on each note (and likely starts at the base value each time you press a key when no other keys are currently being pressed).
  21. Your choices are the 88-key versions of the Korg Kronos, Yamaha Motif XF, and Roland Fantom G. Anything else is a lesser version of one of these keyboards, and you have the money for the top of the line model, so why settle for less and limit yourself? The big question then is what kind of music you want to play. As a general rule, everyone will have good pianos (so play and find out which you like most), Yamaha is the best of the three at orchestral sounds (though the Kronos is rediculously powerful, so that may not be true any longer), and comparing those three, the Kronos will be the best for organ sounds (it has a fully-customizable drawbar organ) and synths (where the other two keyboards have sampled synth sounds, the Kronos has that PLUS 5 or 6 proper synthesizers). My recommendation, in general, would be the Kronos, but without knowing what you want to play and what your preferences are, I can't say for sure. The most important thing though is that you try before you buy. Find a local music store that has all three models, if you can, and spend a few hours playing and comparing them, seeing which sounds best in the areas that are most important to you and which has the features you like most.
  22. Posting this here for anyone who hangs out in the music threads and might not pay attention to the Sale/Want 3.0 thread in General/Community. I'm selling a pile of samples and plugins; details below. Instruments - SonicProjects OP-X Pro II Oberheim OB-X synth emulation: $80 ($75 plus half the $5 license transfer fee.) I've talked to them via e-mail and I have permission to sell, but do note that the software becomes NFR after being sold once, so you couldn't then resell it legally. Effects - Line6 POD Farm 2.5 Standard guitar FX plugin: $40. (It's giftable, so there's no license transfer fee - see here) - WaveArts MasterVerb, TrackPlug, and MultiDynamics: $60 each, $110 for any two, or $150 for all three. License transfer is free (see here) - Waves Native Power Pack: $100. License transfer is free (see here) as the Power Pack's regular price is less than $700. If you're interested in buying several things, we can work out a discounted price.
  23. I'm two cards away from level 2 and have 22 cards total, so I can probably make it to level 3 by trading alone. I've got a lot of Bioshock Infinite, Kerbal Space Program, and Prison Architect; hit me up at [OCR] Kanthos if you want to trade. I' m at work right now, and I can probably take a couple minutes to trade, but I'm not going to stay signed into Steam, so PM me if you want to trade during the day. Looking for 1 Chivalry, 1 Football Manager, 2 Reus, 1 Skyrim, 2 Torchlight.
  24. I've had tendonitis or something similar nearly half my life so I prefer a semi-weighted keyboard, plus if I'm only going to have one, I find it a nice compromise between a lighter touch for leads and a harder touch for piano, and my Roland's really built for B3 playing. I can't recommend it for any other sounds though; they're pretty crappy. Other than the obvious recommendation to stay away from the lower-end models, it really comes down to preference, so try anything, but people generally speak highly of anything with a Fatar keybed. It really depends what controllers are in your local stores, but you sound like you have enough skill and good enough taste to avoid any of the budget stuff like M-Audio. I really liked the feel of the Korg M3's 61 and 73-key models, which are semi-weighted Fatar keybeds, but they haven't been sold since the Kronos came out, so they might be hard to find. I got lucky and picked my M3 module up on a huge sale just a couple weeks ago, and my local store also had an M3-61, so I tried its keybed too, and I'd prefer it to my Roland, but I didn't want to sell the Roland and lose the organ sounds.
  25. Anyone have some extra cards to trade? I need: Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Skyrim, and Torchlight II Extras I have: 3x Bioshock Infinite, 2x Kerbal Space Program, 3x Prison Architect, 2x Tomb Raider Once I get the three I'm missing, I'm happy to give my other extras away to anyone who wants them. Send me a message here, or [OCR] Kanthos on Steam. My haul: Age of Empires II HD Assassin's Creed III Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition Civilization V: Brave New World Eador: Masters of the Broken World Street Fighter x Tekken
