  1. Thank you very much! I'm not unfamiliar with music creating though, as I have been dabbling around in various music games/programs for playstation for several years. But, it takes a lot of effort to get used to completely new software and learning its possibilities. I took your advice and added a little reverb on some of the synths and percussion. About the lyrics, I might drop the whole thing, I'm still thinking about it...
  2. Well, we won't get any better if we stop now. So we just have to keep our spirits up, and one day they WILL accept our mixes!
  3. Thank you! I can't wait for it to be finished either
  4. The Legend of Zelda: The Adventures of Link I stumpled upon a remix of the temple theme and it said ocremix.org in the id tag, so I checked it out.
  5. I have a black Asono player with 2gb flash memory. It's small and handy with a touch screen. The reason I have that player is because I won it on a POP Quiz, 1st prize! ^^ The sound isn't stellar, but it's ok.
  6. First section: As I said earlier, I like the intro. But, as tensei-san mentioned, add a little reverb to the voice. I like the extra stuff you added to this section. The beat drum that comes in is way too loud compared to the rest, and it doesn't really fit in. Second section: You need a beefier kick drum after the intro, and the high hat and cympals are really sharp and high on the eq-scale, and sort of hurtful to the ears when played loud. You're not doing your arramgment justice at this point, because you lack a bassline. A cool bass could really do a lot for your arrangement as it really effects the melody and the beat of a song. Loose some of the pad stuff and add a nice bass and arrange it so that the song gets more variation.
  7. I think this is really great. I love the synth that comes in around 00:30 that almost sounds like a tweaked guitar or something. I love it. Arrangement is very strong IMO. Also the drums/percussion arrangement is really cool. But, you need to do some eq'ing or whatever on the kickdrum because it's too bass'ish. I know that a problem was that it didn't have enough umph, and it still doesn't, but somehow the bass level of it is so high that my speakers can't handle it. I don't have a lot of technical knowledge about music, so I'm not sure you understand what I'm trying to say, lol. But, maybe you should just go for another kickdrum... I'm not sure what the problem is... maybe cutting down the length of it or something could help... Maybe the echo/reverb from the guitar is causing it or the bass line. It could be a sum of all, or not... I don't know. About the bassline, I can hear it, but I think it could be cool if you picked another bass as well that is a little harder or maybe a saw base or something. Anyway, I think you need to work on the bass, because it's very moist, at least it sounds like it, but it could be the guitar that's giving of that feeling. You should probably take a closer look on the echo/reverb of the guitar, I think it could be messing up several things in this track
  8. LOL, well, I did try to get a remix posted a year ago, but at that time I used my Playstation and Music2000/MTV Music Generator for my music creation. So, the samples were pretty crap, the arrangement was weak(and very true to the source) and it was all drenched up in too mutch reverb, so it got 3 x NO, he he. It was a pretty rough slap on my face, but it has inspired me to get better, so today I'm just glad that they totally butchered it. I've actually only used my Playstation and Playstation 2 for music creation up until recently. I got myself a copy of Reason a couple of weeks ago and it has far more power than my playstation programs.
  9. wow, thanks! It still needs a lot of work, but I really appreciate the encouragement. I will be sure to check out the song you mentioned.
  10. So far this has a lot of good stuff going on, but the drum and percussion needs work. The kick drum is too thin, maybe lowering it an octave or something would help. Or you could simply use several kickdrums samples to create a phater kick. Also I would swap the shaker sample(I'm not sure that's what it is) with a snare. I would go for a percussion set closer to the one Davidicus uploaded than the one you have now. The snare that comes in at the second half of the track sounds nice, but maybe it needs more variation in its arrangement? Also you have some occasional reverb issues with your piano that gives off unwanted sounds, if you know what I mean?
  11. Apparently I'm not tone deaf as I got a perfect score on both.
  12. I remember playing Final Fight when I was a kid, and I never managed to beat that guy in the wheel chair.
  13. It definitely needs to fleshed out more, and needs a bunch of stuff to fill up the space. Thank you for your comments. I've been putting this on hold for the past week, but I need a break from my other remix, so I will probably take a look at this one tomorrow.
  14. I'm not really qualified to give lots of feedback, but I will try anyway. I really like the first minute of this song. The choice of instruments and arrangement is very nice. Great job on that IMO. I'm not digging the instrument that comes in around 1:06, and I think the eastern inspired instruments that come in after that sound pretty weird. It ruins the etheral beauty of the beginning. I agree with the previous comment about unmuffeling the drums during the transition. Also the drum arrangement needs a little work after the transition, because in some parts it sounds like you don't know where you want to go with your drums, they are very improvised. I really like the first part of this track, and I will be eagerly awaiting the update. NB: my english isn't exactly stellar, but I hope you understood what I wrote.
  15. Ok, so I've put the orchestrated version of the Mako Reactor theme on hold for the time being. I've been wanting to make a muddy trip hop version of the theme for quite some time now, so I decided to give it a try. First of all I'm having a hard time grasping mastering, but I'm working on it. I've only had reason for two weeks, so I'm obiously still a complete n00b. Second of all, please don't pay too much attention to the last minute of the track. The track sounds very repetetive at the moment, one of the reasons: I'm currently writing lyrics for this track, at this point they are kinda cheesy, but whatever. I will be singing them myself(yikes!), but my recording equipment is limited to a pair of Singstar microphones, lol. Still, this track needs lyrics... This track is early in development, but I need some feedback. So, all comments are highly appreciated! You can find the track on my soundclick page titled MAKO TRIP: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=340570 EDIT: I have a update now, you can find the track on the soundclick page titled Mako Trip NEW. Or you can get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1ebxxmms15m Update: http://www.mediafire.com/?4nbz561uxwk
  16. Jag är inte svensk, men norsk And somtimes it feels like I am reading swedish only with english words...
  17. Thanks Case! I hope I can get some work done on it tomorrow, maybe so much that I will post an update.
  18. Wow, great tips! Thank you very much for the feedback!
  19. Thank you! And sorry for posting in the wrong forum :B
  20. I have been creating music with my beloved Playstation for quite a while with a game/program called Music 2000(mtv music generator in the US). As you may understand it has its share of limitations, so I decided to move on to the computer for further developing my music skills. I am a complete amateur and only doing this for fun, but anyways... I got Reason a couple of days ago and I am now working on a remix of the Mako Reactor theme from Final Fantasy VII. It is obviously in its VERY early stages, but thought it would be a good idea to post what I have done to get some feedback. You can find the track through this link (it is the one titled "Mako Infection"): http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=340570
  21. I like where this song is headed, but at its current state it is in dire need of a new drum kit I can hear the Kefka melody, though it's a fairly liberal interpretation of it. More variety and dynamics would be good. Keep working on it and update when it's more fleshed out, I think it's a great start. But at the moment I can imagine it's fairly hard to determine where you are going with this. Please don't give up on it! Good luck man
  22. I must be blunt with you, that fuzz voice thing sounds awful. I'm not sure what is fuzz guitar and what is fuzz voice here, but none of them fits the rest of the song, and they sound like they are out of key and slightly out of sync. The backround arrangement sounds pretty good, but it's a bit difficult to tell because the fuzz stuff keeps on annoying me. The snare sounds a bit cheap though. Loose the fuzz and work on it from there, that's my best tip.
