  1. Haven't been here in a long while. There's been a lot going on in my personal life, so I haven't had the time to work on my tracks. But, I did some changes to this track this weekend, and I would love to get some feedback. Currently working on lyrics... it's hard! Updated version: http://www.mediafire.com/?4nbz561uxwk
  2. Hmmm, that's a hard question. Well, if you're going to stick with what you have now, you need to work on the mastering. Also the cymbal feels a bit misplaced(?). But, maybe an electronic and ethnic fusion could be cool? In an uptempo kind of way, because the intro is really laid back and slow. Try to make the drums communicate a little with the new section you've added. Maybe use some of the same samples or something. It's a bit hard to come with suggestions, because right now the drums are the center of the attention, so my brain keeps focusing on them, thus making me unable to think of a different beat. If you want to go for something else, save the file with a different name, remove the drums, and experiment! That's probably the best tip I can give you. Also I would suggest keeping a beat up until the change that comes in at 2:30, instead of stopping it around 2:05. Yeah, you need to work a little on the mastering in this part, adjusting volume, panning, etc. BTW: I really love the synth you introduce around 2:09. Reminds me of early 90's rave.
  3. Wow, this was a surprising new turn. I must say this keeps getting better and better, and I really like what is starting to happen after 2:10. Great job on that! Also it's nice to finally hear a bassline in the middle section. Though as you stated, they still need some work. As you are improving on this track it's getting more and more obvious how weak the middle section is compared to the rest. It could just be the drums that are ruining this part of your mix. You really have to do some mastering on them (and maybe some arranging), and it would be nice if that were one of the next things you did, because right now they are ruining the overall impression of your remix.
  4. Good luck! But, I don't think you need any luck, you've got the skills!
  5. Well, I certainly can't help you improve, it's so damn good! I say it's definitely good to go!
  6. Yeah, I totally agree about the percussion, and some variation to the beat. I'll work on that. Thanks!
  7. This is so cool! Can't wait for the next update!
  8. Yeah, I ask the same question, why are there only two mixes of this fantastic OST? I've been thinking about making a mix myself though...

    Ski or Die

LMAO Anyway, I remember playing Ski or Die on the NES, awesome game, and it would be cool if someone did a remix.
  10. I can't say I recognize it. But I must say that the beat/percussion in this is really great. It's also a very nice melody.
  11. ahhh, much better. this song is getting better and better. my main gripes: the synths are still very similiar (needs more variation in samples IMHO) and the bass is still weak.
  12. This track is really amusing. It borrows heavily from New Order and Pet Shop Boys and I'm loving it!
  13. This remix is simply stunning! First of all it's refreshing with a song in this genre. There are a lot of electronic and orchestral tracks here(I'm not hating, I love them as well!), so it's nice to hear some kick ass metal! The production is great. The quitars are awesome, and I love the drums. I've read some users around on this site commenting that it's very repetetive. First of all this is not an orchestral piece guys, it's metal. Song construction works different in different genres. I used to be an avid metal listener(mostly norwegian black metal and I still listen to it, but not exclusively) and I must say that this track sounds extremely professional and that the song arrangement and construction is really on par with big names in the industry. Also, this song has kick ass vox and lyrics. That's not something we see everyday on OCremix, so it's a very commendable feat, especially when done so well. This fact also helps the song work beyond nostalgia, this track reaches an audience beyond Castlevania fans and the OCremix community because of its lyrics and the great production IMHO. \m/___\m/ I completely agree with Harmony. Also, this is one of my favourite remixes here on OCremix.
  14. I can't download it. Try uploading it at http://www.tindeck.com/
  15. This is great Davidicus! I think Blake pretty much covered the stuff I noticed and more. Very solid work!
  16. This is a nice start. I don't know the source, so I can't comment a lot on the arrangement. The part before the key change sounds a lot better now! It may still have a couple of problems with key, I'm not sure... The main problem with this song at the moment is mastering. The bass is too wet and wimpy. It needs more velocity, and maybe it would be a good idea to shorten down some of the notes. I like the arrangement of the bass. The percussion needs to come out more, especially for this genre(house/dance). Also I would suggest using two different kickbasses. You could use the same sample, only turning one of them half an octave or more higher than the other. This gives the kickbass bass and punch. Just a suggestion. The percussion arrangement is nice, but could use more variation. The synths are really hard and loud compared to the bass and percussion. Replacing some of the hard synths with softer ones or with synths with a slightly different feel would probably make the song more dynamic as well. Also you should try to pan some of your instruments, synths and percussion to different parts so that they don't mesh all together. The piano is very nice. Work with the mastering and you will do your song a big favour!
  17. This is fantastic. It sounds so real, and it's obvious you're a proffesional. I don't have much knowledge when it comes to orchestral music, and no technical knowledge, so I don't feel that I am qualified to comment on this. However, i feel there are a couple of piano notes from 0:55 to 0:57 that doesn't fit in? Nothing wrong with the notes per say, but I feel it doesn't fit in with the rest of the arrangement and soundscape so far. It could just be me...
  18. Well, it sounds a lot better! The kick bass is a bit soft though IMO. Also the song needs an ending, but I'm guessing you're already aware of that. Other than that, this sounds great! =D
  19. =P Thanks. I've done some alterations, let me know what you think. That would be really cool! Thanks! =D I chopped of some of the parts and added a little variation. Let me know what you thing. The last part of the song is still heavily under construction though. Thank you very much for the indepth review and all the great tips and feedback. I really appreciate it! =)
