  1. Well I can concede that the other crits are valid, but what do you mean by most of it feels dead? The original piece is even more mechanical than this and not very humanized at all =l
  2. Getting NO'd by a female would be so much moar sexy ...providing it's not an instant reject
  3. I've taken some of your advice and used it Gario - not sure how to vary stuff up to make it more interesting in the first half, but the second half definitely changes things up in this update http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/LagunaRemix_VerA2.mp3 BTW this is my first track where I actually used seperate patterns instead of throwing it all into one cluster-fuck pattern, so this project is much more organized ^^ Thx for comments btw Gario. Also - why aren't you posted yet bro =p aren't you better than me
  4. Decided to do a generic techno remix of Laguna's theme ^^ http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/LagunaRemix_VerA1.mp3 Update 1 http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/LagunaRemix_VerA2.mp3 Update 2 http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/HoboKa_Mr_Machine_Gun_VerA3.mp3 here's link to the original, sorry for not posting earlier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2vpqd9gKXk
  5. Lol, I talked to Mr. Lippert on msn - he's doing fine ^^
  6. 4/4 is the easiest way to start learning - just don't stick to it solely like me Or...I guess you could read a whole theory book on time sigs. Listening helps too
  7. Hmm, I think there's some timing issues - I'll skip the production side of this for now, since you're new to the pain of making music x_x. Anyways, the bassline is what's conflicting the most with the guitar melody. The timing clashes, and the key is slightly off. The drums are also totally not cohering to the time signature at all. Sounds like my very first composition I think the best way to learn timing/time sigs is actually to rip a midi file and examine it. Preferably a source tune that is 4/4 timing...(which has a beat of 1 2 3 4) , easiest way to learn how to do drums and other instruments imo. As a last note, the track lacks direction and seems to be trapped in limbo - it doesn't really progress. Still, this is more cogent than my first ever piece haha. Just practise and learn and you'll get there eventually...hopefully faster than me lol.
  8. I'm not an expert with production, but I think it sounds pretty crisp to me. I like this a lot - makes me regain faith in modern rap - of course, you aren't mainstream Probably a good thing haha. This sounds very professional in either event. This is def. going into my music library, good work man.
  9. ^ says all. http://www.mediafire.com/?myjr1xf3wfm Hope you guys dig it.
  10. Ug. Going by ear for the lose T-T. Aka too tired/lazy to bother lol.
  11. which midi on VGmusic is the one for Ancient Dolphin??
  12. Goldwave is easy as well. Just download a trial version of it and save your .wav as an .mp3 - done deal.
  13. Add Lefthanded Wolf to that list plz. I lost all inspiration/will power to work on that one lol.
  14. Ew. FFX-2. Not one of my fav's lol. This is interesting, the 808 bass drum kinda felt a bit out of place but other then that I'm not minding this remix. Man I have to admit the OST to this game isn't all that bad lol...too bad the game itself was too chick-flick ish lol. Keep at 'er =p
  15. Starcraft did that well But anyhoo, I do sense the forced feel to this track. Other then that I'm fine with it. Maybe my standards aren't as high. Meh. I dig this a lot . nice touch with the doggy sound =p
  16. wow Vid, I thought you died or something. Good to see you back Since this is a piano solo you'll need to be REALLY thorough with your humanization, reverb, tempo changes and all that jazz. This is okay, but I'm not certain if its OCR quality...still not posted myself so I don't really have any say in that department lol. Other then that, not sure how else I can crit this track, good jorb so far.
  17. C.C. is a tough game to remix - cuz most of the stuff is either live played or very well produced, so it's tough to compete lol. Anyways, the first section is kinda sparse and lacking in direction, but when we get to the actual track it's alright. Samples are low quality and the midi data is very mechanical sounding - I'm sure you'll fix this stuff once you get past the whole rough-draft phase. Oh and this is wayyy too conservative. Needs some original stuff to it Keep it at it man
  18. ZOMG Laguna's theme!! U get an A just for attempting to remix this one - one of my fav's for ff8 lol. Anyways, time to get down to critting... I love the chill feel - it's kinda like Laguna in a beauty pagent lol. Wow...bad image. Moving on! woah...1:25 and still no real change to the track :S, maybe add in some other support melodies or chords into the later part - cuz this track takes a long time to get into the high gear. And yeah, I agree with MonoB, the DnB rhythm is wayyyy too repetetive, needs some MAJOR varying up. Maybe also have the track change styles halfway? This song file is way too long too. Y'know, if this wasn't OCR this would get posted anywhere else (I think), cuz OCR has some limitations regarding length and file size, etc. Over all, I enjoyed this track, but there's some changes you'll need to do. Good luck bro Oh and you inspired me to do my own remix of this track lol. ^^
  19. first of all - get a better file hoster. This one blows goat ex.) Fileupyours tindeckaudio Mediafire as for the remix: It's alright, def. won't get you posted - sounds like its a mix of midi + soundfonts + that bass-sound thing. That bass REALLY gets old fast - I think that it'd help if the bass track doesn't play the full measure everytime and maybe a different, smoother sample would help a ton. Also, the drum kit is VERY low-fi - you'll definitely need to do some major sample hunting. I'm loving your chords btw, they really give more depth to it in the 2nd half, but their sample is hurting. Oh and the piano is really dry and robotic sounding. Humanization and reverb can be a real pain - they take a while to master lol. But otherwise, the composition itself I think is alright - it needs some varying up and some more liberal parts to it though. Anyhoo, for your sample huntage, KVR Audio is an excellent place to start, also check out the OCR production forums. And if you have a lot of money to spare, go out buy some real VSTs and stuff, not sure what ones will get the most worth out of your buck though, seeing as I'm a poor hobo, as my name suggests Good luck in your future remixing endeavors
  20. Thanks for the comments Gario And sorry for not updating the track. I got pretty sick recently - that's what I get for being in poor shape and having a bad diet. Dunno when my inspirations will come back, but it won't be until I get better. Again, thx for crits guys. Peace.
  21. Alright, thanks for the crits - I definately need to work on my humanization - but for the drums, the original had a real simple drum beat that complimented it well - it could be that I'm using the wrong samples - or my rendition of the track just doesn't fit well with the same drum style. So I guess I'll just edit them out for now and add them later if I need. It's pretty difficult to get a reaal good sounding keyboard melody going with just a mouse, would really like a keyboard lol. Not to mention that I'm pretty amateur in the orchestral department, er more so than my other genres anyhow. So I think I'll put this project on hold until I get better samples and perhaps a keyboard too lol.
  22. Decided to tackle a more obscure mix - a sad theme. It's rare that songs make me go Q.Q but this source tune did that to me lol. Hopefully my remix conveys at least some of the feeling here. Also, I'd like it if some1 would collab and sound upgrade me lol. http://www.fileupyours.com/view/218181/HoboKa_SOTN_Portrait%20of%20Dorian%20Alucard_VerA1.mp3 source: Soz wrong source tune title - it's actually Lost Painting =l lol
  23. sexy gate effect there mm mm. Loving the drums and stuff - there is a lot of compression in here which does make it feel brick-wall-ish at times. Definitely more oriented towards rhythm than melody. The breakdown at 2:10 or so is AWESOME...good use of piano and string/pad thingy. And that filter-warpy effect that brings it back to the original is very pro sounding. Well it's all pretty pro sounding here The only real gripe is...YOU NEED TO FINISH THIS
  24. wow 10.1MB that is a big file =p. Definitely try to reduce that size there lol. This doesn't feel that background-ish to me as some other ppl have said it is. Love the drum samples here, that snare is niiice. I think I recognize the source at certain parts as this does feel a tad liberal to me, but I think that a lot of liberal stuff does get YES'd here. The remix does get a tad repetetive at about 2:25 for me - there's a lot of rinse and repeat in this composition. It might actually benefit you to vary up the synths leads and support melodies a bit more. Maybe add a piano with a bit of delayed reverb at the middle point or something to sorta refresh the ears, so to speak. And the ending is a bit weak indeed. Over all I found this track fairly enjoyable, but there are definitely some things to tighten up and change. Good job dood
  25. Wow, did you actually do the vocals here?? If so, I could revamp my remix to make it more rap-savvy =p
