  1. Will the internet connection be excellent? This sounds like a great option then, and be more than willing to help chip in in that event.
  2. So I'm at a hosting dilemma for the new server. I got linked to a hosting company that looks to be excellent, and the ideal option would be $95 a month for a 25 slot server. I could go cheaper ($38 or so being the cheapest) for a 24 or 25 slot server, but the quality probably won't be much different from Gameservers. For reference, on a test server for this new hosting location, I get 10-15 or so ping less than the Chicago location one with our current server. Yet another option Pyrion suggested would be to have someone build a server and get a powerful enough dedicated connection (perhaps would have to go with some specialized business option) to host one, and have everyone chip in. We would be able to host at the least 2 TF2 servers and 1 L4D one simultaneously, as well as other stuff, but it probably would be pricey to have everyone chip in. On the flip side, we would have all of the power to do what we want with this option. Again, this requires quite a monetary committment from multiple people though, especially the one hosting. Thoughts?
  3. I'm going to go on a 5k run, and then I'm going to probably tf2 some.
  4. So FireSlash offered his server for a secondary server - we're going to try that out in the next few days and see what happens.
  5. I'll be the one renting still, and donations are still more than welcome. Money isn't really as much an issue for me, so I can absorb hits for a while if necessary.
  6. It gets used as a game server a fair amount, so I wouldn't feel it's appropriate to use it like so. This one would be a sort of secondary server, with lots of community involvement in maintaining.
  7. So with as many regulars as we are getting on the server these days, how would people feel about a second server with a different map rotation being up? I can see there being some interesting things we could do with a second server, such as leaving the main one with a more staple rotation of popular maps, and the second one with more experimental rotations & far more open access to the community to alter server settings (to trusted people still, but I'd be willing to open access to most of the regulars).
  8. Stalemates don't happen so often. If I had to fathom a guess, it would be that if defense holds on an attack & defend map like dustbowl, the defense wins overall.
  9. I already addressed this . In fact, to accomodate your bitching and moaning, I tweaked the mapcycle yesterday to this: cp_warpath2 pl_badwater arena_dailydozen_a2 cp_fastlane pl_frontier ctf_turbine cp_granary pl_badwater cp_pacman_wtf_party ctf_2fort cp_follower pl_woodland_b4 cp_blackmesa_final pl_frontier cp_gravelpit cp_steel pl_cashworks_rc Note that about HALF of the maps in that mapcycle are official maps, and that this map rotation is only a temporary refresher for those who wanted more variety. The map rotation for tonight when the update comes out will be: ctf_2fort cp_granary cp_dustbowl pl_badwater cp_gravelpit pl_pipeline cp_fastlane pl_cashworks_rc arena_sawmill ctf_turbine cp_steel pl_pipeline cp_follower tc_hydro cp_dustbowl pl_badwater cp_well arena_nucleus cp_pacman_wtf_party pl_goldrush cp_badlands which contains a grand total of 3 custom maps out of 27 maps. Also a reminder for everyone, the password for tonight is "sidebar"
  10. The scout update doesn't list any milestone achievements either.
  11. Bumping up to gauge interest & suggestions for stuff to do.
  12. This will be my first year that I will be attending - I'm not really an anime person, but I'm more interested in spending time with fellow OCRers who'll be there (and it comes at a convenient time for me, given my traveling schedule). After seeing all sorts of people I've missed at previous Otakons, I figure it's about time I show my face at this one.

  14. granary, turbine, badwater, steel, and gravelpit are all on the rotation atm. Badwater is even on twice in a cycle. cashworks (which is a pretty damn good map) is only on the rotation once. Same with frontier. warpath was a request by chadly, which I obliged since we very rarely play it. toy fort hasn't been in the rotation for a loooong time either, and seemed to have gotten decent love from regulars before. Well has gotten a bit tiring IMO. Egypt is kinda bleh - you're more than welcome to rtv to it, which we have done twice yesterday. Badlands suffers from some poor attrition at times too. Woodland isn't really that heavy on the alpine theme (more dirt & canyon-like from what I can see), and has been pretty good to many of the regulars as well. It isn't even as expansive as others. But the point is is that the rotation was implemented for yesterday and for today to be refreshing. The rotation for tomorrow is going to be more normal when the update comes out, with the new maps included. I even asked for input earlier on the rotation :/ .
  15. Add me to friends when you see me sometime on the server, so I can add you to the reserved slots then.
  16. Is there a way to alter the calculation of stats? I had the stats calculation altered with HLStatsX because there were complaints that it shouldn't count for new people unless they became regulars for sure.
  17. Good number of people so far interested...any others in the area?
  18. Yeah...kinda sucks but at least now I can post a bit more formally on the more recent things. So, every person on the project should go to the private splitoff and check the two new stickies.
  19. I know Posi can host someone overnight, but having extensive stuff done at his place is probably not the best of ideas. I'm sure he knows of BBQ spots though at the very least.
  20. So...where were all those interested St. Louis people?
