  1. Why? I can only think of one or two other NYers who visit Offtop (and it wouldn't be in the appropriate forum either then)...I have mentioned this in #ocremix in IRC to other potentials too.
  2. I've found the recent trend towards online multiplayer in handheld RPGs strange (excepting Pokemon) - does it even work well in general? And why is there tangential PS3 talk here ?
  3. He can't make it to this one unfortunately . I'm guessing he'd be able to make an August one if you guys want to arrange one.
  4. The camera wasn't really much of an issue in the original, simply because of the right trigger recentering the camera by the character whenever you wanted to recenter it. It is true though, in Ninja Gaiden Black, they did put an easier mode for those who die too much, and I'm pretty sure it makes a return in Sigma. It looks a bit hefty at $70, but I know I'm going to take the plunge on this game sometime in the next month or so.
  5. I remember eating at the Rusty Scupper last time I was in Baltimore...but I highly doubt you guys will want to go there, simply because of the price of the food there. Doesn't the ESPN Zone there have a restaurant in there (at least, I know the Times Square one does)? It may not be the ideal place, but it's another option
  6. You lazyasses, I just got the info about the show, and the chiptunes sound great. I'll definitely be up for sticking around for it.
  7. I only played a little of the first one, so I haven't got sick of them (yet). It's another positive for the PS3, although I wonder why they're sticking to it
  8. I've been thinking it's Nintendo's way of creating filler until their good stuff comes out.
  9. http://www.gametab.com/news/973471/ So, there're rumors of a $400 40 GB PS3 - if it's true, Sony's executives are really out of the loop. But...it'd be a step in the right direction.
  10. Bump - I updated the first post with some info and questions to get this ball rolling. We could always wing it for whatever we want to do, but if people want to go to that gig, then at least dinner should be at a solid time.
  11. So where's that info pezman? Or do I have to ask them myself?
  12. The so called creative method was to have the data multiple times on the disc, which was also done on some PSP games to speed up the load times. But what this does is nullifies the space advantage of bluray over DVD in some cases.
  13. People bash the bluray format is because it's notably more expensive, slower read rate than DVDs (at least on the PS3), and because of Sony's notorious history with format control that is anti-consumer. And you know the Amazon deal is better than the Circuit City one - you have to pay tax on the CC one, and Amazon is only charging $40 for a PS3 controller. Also, I disagree with the sixaxis use in the PS3 games - they scream sometimes more of a gimmick than Wii games (see Resistance: Fall of Man), and I've already played like 7 games for the Wii so far. If anything, it's largely the other way around. And to throw a little more truly positive stuff into the thread, Ninja Gaiden Sigma should be awesome, and I'm looking forward to Warhawk as well for some strange reason. Edit: Oh atomicfog, the PS3 seems to hate crappy TVs...I play it on a shitty 20" TV when I'm at school, and the TV makes weird noises when switching from the PS3 dashboard to the EE for PS2 games. When I know for sure I'll be at a grad school for a while then I'm plunk down some cash for an HDTV, but for now I have to deal with the crappy TV.
  14. Oh, I didn't say Motorstorm is bad (I actually have been a bit lazy in snatching it up), but the price upgrade from the 60 GB PS3 seems even worse than the jump between the 360 Premium and 360 Elite, considering that Sony actually lets you swap in your own hard drive into the PS3.
  15. Well, why not get a PS3 from Amazon now, while the 60 GB one is still in stock and while there's still such a deal for it? Even if you don't necessarily want one so quick, it has the Emotion Engine still in it, and it's doubtful that the 80 GB one will be cheap anytime soon.
  16. Well, I wasn't expecting Mario Kart to come out so soon, or SSBB AND SMG either. I didn't see anything for the PS3 that would be that compelling for that time period. In the top notch software department, PS3 is on uncertain grounds for the holidays, compared to the heavy hitters that Nintendo and Microsoft are unrolling.
  17. So how's your PS3 doing?
  18. What time and where exactly is AE's, virt's, prozax's gig in the city anyway? Maybe we could do something on the 29th based around that.
  19. True, I wasn't saying that was my answers to the questions, but I meant in reference to the sad life part.
  20. What if you say no to music and art but say yes to math?
  21. Yeah, Coop makes an excellent point here. I try to ignore hype and stay disinterested towards games until I actually play them and am able to judge them for myself. I think the whole hype for future games viewpoint goes too far and does a disservice for many fine games in the industry that the developer doesn't unload the hype wagon for, as well as doing a disservice for the gamers who may miss out on gems.
