  1. Isn't using synthesizers just using a lot of computer programs and button pressing? If I misjudged this, I deeply apologize and feel very stupid But technical ability means having skill with something. You know, practicing for years to get good at an instrument. If a synthesizer doesn't take that, then I can't really call it technical ability :\ But that's just what I think.
  2. Some artists with just technical ability will just be way too show offy and it won't be all that great. DragonForce doesn't change their style at all in any song. It's just all a bunch of technical ability. Granted they're a good band (though not an essential one ) but they're not all that creative. But hey, some people show off well so I guess maybe you're right.
  3. Those weren't that bad to begin with if you had skill. 'cept for maybe X3. Played X2 on an emulator and I must say it was a joke.
  4. Just got the game a minute ago. Must say its awesome. However I only did splash woman's stage so far. Why? I bought Super Mario RPG at the same time and had to relive the magic. Must say I like your Bass theme and thanks
  5. I would have to say passion matters more. I mean, you don't need technical ability and insane knowledge in music theory to be a good musician. Sure you have more places to go with ability and knowledge but does that mean you can make good music? I mean, the majority of video game musicians use synthesizers and whatnot for making music. There's not a lot of technical ability there, and yet look at Stickerbrush Symphony from Donkey Kong Country 2. Beautiful song. Then there's the band Demons & Wizards. There's barely any technical ability there and yet they have some of the most emotional, passionate music I've heard from any band. Here's a prime example: I think we know which wins here. (Though it is fun to watch people show off like Yngwe Malmsteen
  6. Just a question for those who have played it: Is Bass or any other side characters involved in any way? As shameful as it sounds, I'm a bit of a Bass fanboy.
  7. You do have your own thoughts on what kind of stuff you like but there is no true standard. All composers just compose the way they want unless the developer wants the game to have a certain way. Some games have a theme with its music, opposed with each area of the game having its own musical theme. Take Chrono Cross. That game's music had a very folky feel with it (besides the action sequences of course). Skies of Arcadia and Dragon Quest VIII had entirely orchestrated soundtracks (although a few keyboard sounds were used in SoA).
  8. Truest statement I've heard all day long. I introduced a friend to my Super NES copy of MM7 yesterday. He couldn't beat Burst Man's stage. Heck, he had loads of trouble with the first stage. He's never played Mega Man anything though, so I didn't blame him a whole lot. And yes Mega Man games are initially difficult for sure. Wonder if MM9 will be? I'll find out after I get a Wii points card from Wal-Mart tonight. (on I side note I might have got carried away earlier; I apologize)
  9. You know why? Halo is a barbaric game. With (mostly) barbaric fans. Barbarians care nothing for reading or deep insight into things. They just want to KILL! Of course, Gears of War is a FAR more barbaric game. HORRIBLE game.
  10. The most magical moment of Kirby Super Star was easily Milky Way Wishes (I'm sure you all agree It had the best tracks on it and had the most memorable moments. The music for the The End animation was really awesome too. Also liked the Flying into Nova theme and the Marx Battle theme. Marx Nova (1:17) Milky Way Wishes endingand Kirby Super Star ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW9glJQUxEM Just thought I'd rekindle all these wonderful memories for you guys.
  11. MM9 already available here in NC. Got my paycheck today. Getting it today or tommorow...or the day after tommorow.
  12. I'm seriously starting to think the magazines got paid to rate Halo that high. Seriously, the Halo series is NOT that big a deal. Barely anything innovative. Half-life is a far superior FPS and actually innovates in its own ways. Granted Halo multiplayer can be fun at times but the only games I actually buy for multiplayer are Fighting games (Brawl FTW). Considering Halo's Campaign...yeah.
  13. I have the 64 version and liked it just fine. But I have heard the PS1 version was much better. Either that one, 8, or 3. Those weren't so bad. BN2 was REALLY good, 3 was awesome. After that it turned into crap.
  14. I've always been more nintendo oriented, so I've never owned a Sega Genesis And Atari is a joke But I do have my NES, Super NES, and N64. They're all hooked up at all times. I've never put them away. I still play them from time to time, be it Mega Man 4 or 2, Kirby Super Star or Adventure or 64, or any of the classic Mario games. I think it takes away from the magic to play remakes or emulators anyway. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I play Ocarina of Time once a year (last year only three hearts just cause its that good
  15. Dooooooooood It's almost done? HOLY CRAP. Definetley torrenting this one I'm looking foward to the awesome boss tracks. And everything in Meta Knight. EDIT: Well, not torrenting it now
  16. My friend Chase said the same thing, Seph. When I suprise brought it to his house, he was like "No, that movie is gay". But in the end he loved it
  17. That thread was funny as hell. It wasn't even meant to be taken seriously one bit. People here tend to blow things out of proportion.
  18. Maybe if I ever become a mixer I'll try starting a project. If I ever get anywhere in the mixing world. Which I plan to.
  19. Well, it was good, but The Dark Knight was the better summer movie in my opinion
  20. Flash cart. Someone told me about those at school. Where do you obtain them?
  21. As unlikely as it ever will be, they could always make a console remake. That would be awesome...maybe. But hey, classic remakes are always on DS. i.e. Kirby Super Star Ultra
  22. Another game I never grew up with...oh the sorrow...
  23. I'm looking foward to Sonic: The Dark Brotherhood.
