  1. Couldn't help but check out some of the pics on there too, and I have to say that anyone who owns Oldboy, the Firefly DVDs, Spaceballs, AND Equalibrium is possessed by epic win. Thanks for the updated link!
  2. I somehow missed the original release, is there somewhere I can still get this from?? Always enjoyed your tunes, it'd be awesome to have a couple CD's for while I'm in the car.
  3. nice work man, I always dig your tunes. if you need hosting space i can open up an ftp account for you on my server.
  4. nice work man, dub is good stuff. only thing i noticed was when it seemed like parts of the song should be overflowing your eardrums, it was like there was a part of the song missing, but it might be cause the headphones i'm using here aren't that good. also, the random unrelated samples kinda seemed like a turn-off. it sounds like a lot of nitpicking, but overall i liked the song a lot - nice blend of old/new instruments.
  5. definitely going to rock super hard when you get a hold of the live instruments, current version is real tight, very nice, but seems a little cheesy for some reason, heh. i'm looking forward to the finished version!
  6. gave it a listen and all i can say is that it's real easy to get into and listen to over and over. great work mate.
  7. I like it man... especially for your first beat. Although there isn't a crazy amount of variation, there never really is in rap songs because the focus is usually the lyrics with something fat in the background. If you keep developing what you have, I'm sure you'll turn it into something great. I think adding something like a simple string section in the background would really help bring it out, get a little reverse cymbal leading into some of the claps, get something going with slight reverb... just things I can think of off the top of my head. Good luck man, I look forward to seeing what else you do with it.
  8. It seems like the snare in the background is slightly off-beat, maybe like the drumroll was hesitated for a little too long. Also, a little more variance in that realm might be good, as military snares do not tend to be overly repetative and as simple as that. Maybe add in a couple flams and sixteenth notes in between, and try changing it up every two or four bars at least (just minor variances, really). I'm no pro, but those are the things I could pick out, but I would like to say that it sounds very professional, like something you'd hear on the menu of a Call of Duty game.
  9. This is the intro for a new song I've been working on that was pretty much started by testing some new VSTs, kinda by accident. But I like the sound of it, and I think it's a good start. Give it a listen and let me know what you think! (Right Click and 'Save As...') Spy Glasses
  10. That's pretty much word-for-word what I was thinking... Do NOT even think about passing this up, this is a must-listen.
  11. EDIT: I was drunk when I originally replied... *cough* Nice tune polar!! Sounds pro, there's just a few parts where there's a synth background that seems out of place, I don't know how to describe it, but it's a very short sample that appears two or three times throughout the song.
  12. Big thanks to Flik and allen for hosting yet another kick-ass Flikomp! Always appreciated, and always a great time.
  13. Very nice polar, very smooth! Sounds like something you'd hear in a movie when two people fall in love, heh.
  14. Very nice man, I really like oriental compositions and you do a superb job of building up to the "full" portion of the song, the way everything fills in together is exceptional! I certainly look forward to the completed version, although it already sounds as such to my ears.
  15. Cheers! I finally get to hop on board and play along. Bumped for happening in a few hours!
  16. Definitely looking forward to the full version! I concur with avaris as well, a full-on audio assault is in order!!!
  17. Who all is currently working on this anyway, if ya don't mind my asking.
  18. Sorry about that man, I didn't mean to inform you incorrectly. Although I had already read the Submission Standards page a couple times in the recent past, I guess it's all open to interpretation. Listening to your songs certainly put a smile on my face, it's like a blast from the past, and you used some really cool samples to overlay everything. Thanks for sharing it with us!
  19. I'm really liking this piece you did, and I think that Sil pretty much covered all the parts I noticed and more! I look forward to seeing your next update on this song.
  20. It's not necessarily the high end that seems off, it just seems like that bell sound is too loud compared to the rest of the song. I too, love the Final Countdown intro, as well as the rest of the song! Nice work mate.
  21. I'd be interested in hearing what you've come up with. As OCR states, its open to any variety of remix, whether its original composition or rearrangements, or mixing as you see fit, so long as its based on video games. Post up a link so we can hear what you've done, and we'll be able to give you a better idea!
  22. Are you talking about the intro or otherwise? The bass isn't playing random notes, it's direct from the original, as is the piano piece. I think what I'm going to end up doing is running my own bassline for it, I'll talk to one of the guys I know who plays bass for suggestions. I tried changing it to be more in tune to the piano's octave/notes, but it sounds ridiculous, loses any smoothness it had (and my opinion of why a bass is... a bass). Another curiosity I had, is talking about keeping the song in tune.. Maybe I'm not getting it, but I don't want everything to be one pitch, cause then it all clashes against itself and becomes redundant. I'll keep working on it though, a few good things have come with the testing. I think the song is a little more streamlined now, it has a semi-finished ending, and a little more work has been done on the drums, but they're still placeholders. (editted for the above) Sorry if I'm over-doing this, but making progress is nice.
  23. Sweetness, thanks for the feedback! When you say out of tune, you mean on a different octave, right? Or am I messing up notes? As far as the synth lead, is it clipping for you, or is it just too chaotic from the rest of the song? Thanks guys! Meph, you've had winning songs, mind sharing some thoughts with me as well? polar: totally forgot, i went and listened to the song and realized what you meant about MIDI drums... the intro actually -is- MIDI drums, lol. iunno, maybe my style is a little weird. Finally saw the fixed link for shrage's WiP... I like it a lot, I couldn't figure out what to do with that song myself, but I really like what you've done with it!
  24. The drums are pretty much placeholders, but the kit used was actually the FPC straight from FL. The crash is intentionally where it is, but maybe its a drummer thing. The bassline is direct from the original song, as is the piano piece, its just done with the chosen samples, I used it as a lead-in and starting point, and I don't think the song would really work without it due to the style. I'll see what I could do about beefing it up a little though! Thanks for the feedback, and yeah... lots of work to go still. Ath, you're the guy heading up this project, so itd be good to know what you think too. Feel free to PM me on it if you don't want to make it public.
