  1. I love how supremely and succinctly Extra Credits took down Samus's current, bogus character development, yet exemplified her past, proper character development. Malaki, the character development is there, you've just go to look for it. (Except for Gordon Freeman. I love the guy, but I think he truly is just a frame of a person that allows for the player to place themselves into the situation.)
  2. I started watching the live stream at 3:30 am. Gosh darn it...This is a horrible and depressing situation. I'm definitely praying for everyone over there and hoping for the best.
  3. ....Dude... Reall--are you--probably--don't-- Aw screw it, knock yourself out. I've got nothing good to say about a decision like that.
  4. I got the special edition, so I got 'em for free. Of course...I'm not really playing this game anymore, so I suppose I'm gonna download 'em, watch their arcade endings...and then...turn off the game...I guess.
  5. This, and This. How am I supposed to practice and get better when I'm getting 100% combo'd to death by Wolverine? I simply don't see what I can do differently, besides hacking the game or something. Is it possible in the grand scheme of things that I could learn how to capitalize on the small slip-ups made by my opponent? Yeah, sure. If I played every day. Maybe if I was capable of using a fight stick, which I'm not (you might as well ask me to use chop sticks for food). Maybe if I had the stamina of a master keyboardist. I don't have any of those things, and I'm simply not willing to expend that much time and energy to try and reach for those lofty goals. Am I missing out? Probably. Am I the one to blame for my defeats, due to my ignorance and lack of skill? No doubt. I just simply don't care enough. It's not fun.
  6. In all seriousness, Modus is getting a lot of underserved flack. He's not being pretentious. It's just a question of taste. SS's artstyle simply doesn't appeal to him. That's not a big deal. It's his opinion. When it comes to art, it's all subjective anyways. There comes a time and a place when we don't like something, yet we can't really describe why in the best way possible. Now, in my opinion, I find the graphics to be more stimulating than TP's more washed out look. Speaking of TP, I played the Wii version in 2006, and the GCN version in 2009, and I didn't notice a difficulty spike in either version. (I can't understand how someone would get stuck in the Water Temple for 6 days...)
  7. I suppose this place is pretty spectacular.
  8. Dude you don't know the half of it. I'm seriously getting turned off of online play at this point.
  9. KEY was beyond easy when it came to just beating the game. Getting 100% increased the difficulty significantly. Not to DKCR's level of difficulty, mind you. Not even quite as hard as the last levels of NSMBW. But yeah, no 3 year old is going to get 100% in KEY. I'm a fan of less brown in games, so go SS artstyle!
  10. Ooh, hey. I didn't mean to imply that I hate TP. It's tied as my second favorite Zelda. What I meant by that was that SS looks like TP with more colors. I just want something that feels different, you know?
  11. Super Mario Galaxy one and two were both fantastic. But I'm quite interested in going back to the exploration-based gameplay of SM64/Sunshine. If I'm able to do that with Racoon powerups, my hype for the 3DS could reach critical levels.
  12. You know, I find it odd how little hype I have for Zelda: SS. Perhaps it's a combination of the graphics, motion control fear, and seemingly TP-like gameplay that's putting me off. But, like I just told my friend, I'll always have high expectations for any upcoming console Zelda game. They've earned my trust, by now.
  13. Overall, MvC3 definitely met my expectations, and surpasses MvC2 in every way besides 2 things. The first is the lack of characters, but that's both obvious and understandable. The second is the lack of spectator mode. Now THAT I find inexcusable. It was in the re-release of MvC2 on Xbox Arcade. It's in Super Street-Fighter 4. There's really no reason not to have it here right now. What's most unfortunate, for me, is that this game probably won't be staying in my 360 for much longer. Now that I've beaten Arcade with every character, gotten every Mission that I'll ever hope to get, and pretty much hit my stride online...I'm just kind of...done. I can only play Ranked and Player matches for so long until it all feels too samey. Is that the game's fault? No, I blame myself. I've never been a hardcore fighting game fan. I really needed some kind of fighting game to round out my gaming collection. I don't have any others. So then, I'm glad I have MvC3 to take care of that problem. I'm guessing that I'll break it out again once my out-of-town friends come back in a few week's time. Until then, or until some compelling DLC comes along, I think the hype has died. It kind of sucks, to be honest. I don't feel like I've got my money's worth of a game unless I've played it for at least 3 weeks. But I don't see that happening right now. Nevertheless, MvC3 gets my seal of approval. (I'll probably be playing some online here and there.)
  14. I don't suppose the thought that people actually like those characters and want play as them ever crossed your mind? Of course, higher level people would never let something strange like that get in the way of their tiers and priority lists.
  15. No, bro, no offense. Just being matter of fact. However, the mention of not one but 2 DS shortages does help even things out. There may be shortages, or there may not. All I know is, I'm not going to give a crap either way because the launch titles are poopie.
  16. Um, was that supposed to be rhetorical? I've never heard about Gameboy shortages before. And why are you mentioning two unrelated electronic devices? We're talking about handheld gaming consoles here. Furthermore, maybe your retort would be more effective if you could cite a few examples of shortages of DS-related handhelds. I've never heard of that problem before, either. The only console that was hard to obtain in recent memory was the Wii.
  17. Global-Trance was kind enough to show me the correct way to use Wolverine and Hulk. By using me as the helpless punching bag. Seriously though, good games. I'd challenge you to a rematch tomorrow if I wasn't going to have a couple friends over. I'm so excited, I'll get to play this game with other people in the same room as me!
  18. Sure, why not. The Damned seems to be thinking along the same lines as me, so I'm not sure.
  19. And that makes for the worst idea for a video game I've seen all year. Way to go Ubisoft. That's.......something.
  20. We're not talking about a home console. Has a handheld ever seen shortages? Especially the DS?
  21. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. I liked that Akuma video.
  22. Press special button and every direction as fast as you can. Seriously. Shoryuken.com says that, against an opponent you've never played before, the odds are statistically more favorable with frantic presses vs. actually trying to predict your opponent's moves. It's helped me quite a bit in ranked matches, no lie.
  23. Apparently, someone on NeoGAF pointed out that Gamestop has done a massive update on release dates for 3DS titles, specifically those for the launch. Here's what we have: - Pilotwings: Resort - Steel Diver - Nintendogs + cats: French Bulldog & Friends - Nintendogs + cats: Golden Retriever & Friends - Nintendogs + cats: Toy Poodle & Friends - Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 - Madden NFL Football - The Sims 3 - LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars - Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition - Super Monkey Ball 3D - Samurai Warriors: Chronicle - Bust-A-Move Universe (Budget Price: $29.99) - Rayman 3D - Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars - Asphalt GT: Nitro Racing - Ridge Racer 3D This seems very likely to be the final launch day lineup. Source: http://kotaku.com/#!5767057/the-games-you-can-absolutely-buy-the-day-the-3ds-goes-on-sale Also of note: Nintendo of America confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, & Mario Kart 3D will be out in North America before the end of 2011.
  24. Got your add, man. I typically don't go to online play until after 5. Looking forward to annihilating playing against you. Anything before that is grinding for arcade endings and mission mode. I beat an X-Factor Sentinel spammer today. I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF!
  25. You know, I'd like to train with more characters, but I'm afraid that doing so will sacrifice my current ability with the characters I already use. Does muscle memory have a limit? I mean, really, Wesker and Haggar seem cool and fun to use, but I don't want to forget how to be good with Wolverine in the process... About that disc scratching thing, my disc was unreadable on friday. I took it back to where I bought it (Best Buy), and got an exchange with no problems. I even got an extra artbook because they forgot to withhold it! =)
