  1. Hehe, that sounds good enough for me. I'm not aiming to max Crysis at 4xAA or anything like that. High settings are good enough for me (because I'll probably be blown away upgrading from laptop GFX either way)
  2. Will do, but if it works just fine, I'll just stay with it. GTX 260 is still a pretty good card, I should get decent performance at 1080 in modern games with high settings, correct? I think the amount of power this rig has is astounding for what we had to pay for it regardless, and I'm in high school, so I don't really need a gaming monster atm. This should satisfy my gaming needs. As you said to me, earlier, all I'm gonna be doing is playing some games and making music.
  3. Not sure if a "wonky" Core 216 will go for much, considering new ones are 80 bucks on eBay.
  4. That's basically what I would recommend. I've heard many great things about those.
  5. Yeah sure, VST's are definitely worse than breaking your bank renting an orchestra.
  6. That doesn't mean it wouldn't have killed you if you were inside of it at the time.
  7. That was free (donated from Shariq). We don't know if it's a bad card or it had problems with Shariq's system drivers (freezing issues), but he gave it to me, I'm hoping it can work on a fresh driver install. If it doesn't, I'm buying a GTX 460 1GB. There's enough room in the budget to get one. And you can't see, but that's actually a Core i7-2600. It was $250 on eBay, top rated seller, brand new sealed, i couldn't resist. Some savings I made from rebates/coupons on other stuff made room in the budget for this, and I still have enough for a GTX 460 if I need it. And it came from newegg for some reason, with a voucher for Lost Planet 2. I think the game itself justifies getting the i7. I indeed went for the 640GB over 1TB Caviar Black to make room for a GTX 460 if needed. Besides, I don't really consume media, so I'm going to have like 300 GB free for a while.
  8. Knight's armor won't save you from a good ol' electric shock from a wall socket. In all seriousness, good luck. You have the advantage in this battle because: a) My computer choked 30 seconds through making the remix. Couldn't make a great arrangement for above reason. c) Had to rush the arrangement for above reason.
  9. This is my current temporary set up, because I'm going to be having some fun next week:
  10. I've beaten Cyril before, and I have a mix To Be Posted fyi. I'm not just boldly challenging him.
  11. I hardly believe you can match my power when I will have an over 9000 MHz processor at my disposal by next week... (that's 3400 per thread, times 8 is 27200 Mhz). I know that's not how it really works, but just roll with it. And FL Studio has full multi-thread support. You're dead.
  12. I don't think anyone has actually answered the question... He said VST, not sample library...
  13. You better beat the crap out of Jake so I can pound you again.
  14. Yeah, I don't really show off about it though. He and I roll differently, especially in how we write our music. I do a lot more with sound design and production techniques. Cuz my main style is electronica, you can't just write good music, sound design is everything.

  15. I didn't say it was a rule, I just said it wasn't cool.
  16. Just because he didn't say it, doesn't mean it's okay, It's unfair to those who can't make an assumption of who their opponent is.
  17. Looks like you will have more than a fraction from me by noon tomorrow. PWNED
  18. The only thing my eyes show is the reflection glow from my new 22" HD LED/LCD Monitor that I'm using to have more space while working in-DAW.
  19. I'm not dropping even if I have to submit my (current) fraction of what I'd called a finished piece. Ain't no way Plug Man going down without a electrifying fight. Maybe we're working on our mixes instead of sitting here posting progress updates. It's not like that wasn't how it was the last two competitions.
  20. As someone who mains Gen, I can say you have no effin clue what you're talking about. Getting across the screen is a matter of milliseconds. Ever tried Oga Kick? Unless of course, you're talking about walking speed. It's Street Fighter. You don't walk, you fight.
