  1. Awwww... This is disappointing... I came into OCR while you were a judge, so it's as if a big part of OCR was sliced off... Do'h, good luck anyways (with whatever you're gonna do now).
  2. So the real reason it was so cheap, you're telling us, is that it did not come with an operating system. That explains a lot! And I thought you got a fancy Windows 7 Home Premium gaming laptop for 650$...
  3. I took a look at the specs and benchmarks on notebookcheck... It is worse than gtx 260m, but not so much that it would be considerably cheaper, and I found a retail laptop for $1800 with 260M... The 9800M GT laptop isn't so far behind that it would be $1150 cheaper, even with a processor downgrade by .4 GHz.
  4. Looking at the specs for this GPU, I find it hard to believe you got a laptop for $650.
  5. Go into your DAW/Tracker (if you have one) and recreate the main melody. That would give us a LOT more info.
  6. I don't think that's a lot of information to go on... there are thousands of songs in the world, children laughing narrows it down but not down to ONE song.
  7. You should get FL Studio and talk to a guy named "Nutritious" on here. One of his remixes (Step into the light) uses entirely free orchestral sounds (His Fruityloops orchestral template. Ask him about that).
  8. HD 4200 should be able to handle 06 games just fine. I have a radeon xpress 200m and THAT can handle games from around that time. And the HD 4200 is, like... 100 times more powerful than mine?
  9. It SOUNDS GREAT. However, the arrangement could be a lot longer, because you're leaving out a lot of parts from the original source... and at :55 the melody is TOO QUIET. and at :31, you left out probably my (and a lot of ours) favorite melody of the source.
  10. It's Intel Integrated Graphics. I don't think you should choose it over ATi. :/ ATi 4200 HD has Direct X 10.1. Intel Chip GM4500HD only has DirectX 10. ATI 4200 HD has 40 stream processing units and the GM 4500 HD has 10. Intel GM 4500 HD is not "slightly" better. It IS "slightly" worse. It's sounds like you're comparing numbers. (4200 to 4500) They're different brands and they follow different model number systems. :/
  11. At $550 an HD 4200 is pretty good (on a laptop, for god's sake)... I'd stick with that. You can't get gaming laptops cheap, that's like asking someone to sell you a new electric hybrid car for the same price as a 5 year convertible. xD And about the laptop Sole Signal provided, that laptop has an integrated Intel graphics accelerator... plus it's gateway... I don't think you wanna go with that one... (Intel graphics doesn't seem so nice) But, like Dhsu and Lvl 99 said... you're better off getting a gaming PC rather than a LAPTOP. Part of the reason I don't like laptops is that you can't really upgrade anything past the RAM. RAM's not gonna increase your gaming performance (much). You want something flexible, something that you'll keep upgrading without having to spend $550 every time you do so (because, lvl 99 said, gaming parts become quickly outdated). On a PC, you can just upgrade the parts for much cheaper. You wouldn't have to buy a new 8 GB RAM laptop in a year, just buy two more sticks of 2 GB RAM (which is much cheaper).
  12. I'm just concerned that people aren't getting judged when they should be. I was just wondering if you do something other than a first come first serve basis, and why.
  13. There's no license key involved. It's just a bunch of files. If you download it now you can install whenever you want... there's no time limit.
  14. But seriously, I ask why are there August mixes being judged when there are still July (and back) mixes in the queue?! That's not fair, guys.
  15. Probably because the first post had a broken link. Nice atmosphere. Reminds of the desert level in Rocket Knight Adventures 2.
  16. You could also mod your Wii to run emulators... Even though it's not HD, you can use the Virtual Console Controller.
  17. Hey guys, I'm testing a new drumkit I made out of a bunch of FL presets and some compressors. If you want the drums: 1 Kick 1 Snare 4 Hi Hats Don't complain that there's no clap/tom/cymbal. Sorry, but it's a free loop I made out of free stuff, and the free stuff I made it from didn't have clap/tom/cymbals. http://neblixsaber.darkesword.com/NAPowerDrums.wav (In a Slicer change the markers so that it's every beat to get all of the sounds separately) I didn't wanna show you guys JUST the drums so I added some of that "music" stuff you guys like so much to show what it sounds like with some "music" stuff... http://neblixsaber.darkesword.com/FlyingWithYou.mp3
  18. Meh. Who cares about flavors anyway... When I called it "boss music", that was only for the minor chord sections... if you hear the major chord parts it does sound dance-y like you said... hm... maybe I should purge the major chords... mwahahhaa....
  19. You are misunderstanding why your director does that. Yes, so the audience can hear the background stuff. But if the audience can hear background stuff, they should be able to hear the lead stuff too. Don't make the background stuff DOMINANT, just keep it AUDIBLE. In other words, don't play piano chords and have somebody ten miles away play the melody, there's no point to having a dominant melody if it's not even dominant. You can do it sometimes, just don't do it ALL the time. It's called a "lead" for a reason. (If all the stuff is in the background, the background turns into the lead. And if all the stuff turns into a lead, there is no background, it's just a big mess of instruments fighting)
  20. Game reviewers like IGN make big deals out of nothing and nothing of big deals. There's nothing wrong with NSMBW, therefore IGN has to resort to complaining about stuff that's NOT in the game. However, they don't give the slightest praise to what IS in the game. I'm not sure what could be added to increase the fun of NSMBW besides HD graphics. But graphics aren't everything, and the Wii proves it. (the NES proved it, for god's sake)
  21. Thanks for the response, I'm looking for a better bass sample with a similar sound. I want the low frequency, but I also want the plonk-y high frequency, too.
  22. Try keeping the source melody DOMINANT. As in make it what everyone wants to listen to, the STRONGEST PART, what stands out the most. Like that electric guitar. Make something like that for the source melody. HOLY CRAP, dude. I listened to your other youtube mixes, they are absolutely phenomenal and realistic. You need to sub every single one of them. You've no excuse for not being a posted remixer

  24. See the problem is my dad won't get me a guitar until I know how to play.

I can't know how to play if I don't practice.

    I can't practice if I don't get a guitar.

It's a continuous cycle of annoyance.
