  1. So, seeing as there was a thread on videogame cravings... I just recently worked myself into a Tetris mood and thought it was time I finally completed marathon mode. After blasting through endless mode for hours and hours I found that once I'd stopped I just couldn't stop making lines in my head. It got to the point that no matter what I did I was playing Tetris in my head. It's not just Tetris, me and my friends played the city mode on Kirby's Air Ride for so long I started to see the car markers out of the corner of my eye. Just wondering if this has ever happened to you guys and how extreme!
  2. Definitely depends on mood but the most common must be: Portal, Pokémon and Tetris... Oh my gosh I crave Tetris.
  3. Heya! Thought I'd just leave a visitor message! ^___^

  4. I found that games like this require less skill and more memory- they do make you feel skilled once you've learned how to ace the level over and over.
  5. Really? Heh heh, thanks. I've got another verse now- it's just so cheezy though! I almost feel dirty writing it!!

  6. Oh yeah, that just reminded me- you STILL have that Tetris mix Willrock?! I'd completely forgotten about that... *grins* Yeah, it might just sound the same 'cuz it was the same chords >__> didn't think anyone would notice. Well done on winning by the way- close one.
  7. Hey Willrock, the name was "Who am I" in japanese, that's why it was wierd. ^___^
  8. I never implied that with my post, I think that's the misconception in the popular definition. You're right, it's just another form of elitism used to say why certain gamers are 'better' than others. I don't think there's no such thing as 'casual gamers', but I certainly think the attitude towards them is wrong.
  9. Surely it's just the definition? I'm pretty sure someone who plays games "casually" is a 'casual' gamer. (Wow, casual loses all meaning if you read it over and over)
  10. Okay, just subbed it. Made a few little changes. Hey DrumUltimA- wanna say thanks very much, you helped me out a lot dude. Of course thanks to everyone who commented too! (Oh and Halc, the only reason I updated it with every post was because I view the last comment first- in my ignorance I assumed everyone else did. I'll make sure to leave it in the first post next time.)
  11. Ah, *facepalms* sorry, I should pay more attention. Well then I'll just say that I'm interested in that particular track then.
  12. Yeah sure, I getcha. Any kind of work I've done or a WIP of the track in question?
  13. Hey, you accepting anyone on this? I've never actually played this game however a while back I came across the track "Under Construction" and freakin' loved it. (It's a permanent on my playlist) It would be awesome to remix and I can't believe no one's claimed it! If y'don't want me that's fine, just letting you know I'm interested!
  14. My first finished remix was a Tetris track made using Sibelius, exported as MIDI, put through Synthfont and then post edited in a sound editing program. This was just over a year ago now... Wow... Just read the old thread... Time certainly goes by quickly... I use FL now anyways. It's difficult to actually say what my first ever mix was because a lot of mixes are experiments and never get anywhere, especially when starting out. I'm sure you're just after something to guage how good you are compared to everyone else before you start, but honestly, I found the best thing for me was to just post it on the WIP forums anyway. The criticism you get (and will inevitably get) there is extremely helpful.
  15. Thanks dude. I really tried to make the new section blend... ^o^ Just calculated new source usuage anyhow- :22-:36 Modified Route 1, A Section :36-:48 Route 1, B Section :50-:53 Guidepost A Section :56-1:10 Modified Route 1, A Section 1:10-1:22 Guidepost B Section 1:58-2:03 Route 10 B Section 2:05-2:39 Guidepost A Section Which gives me about 1:38 of source... (Did I get that right?!) Is that enough? I know if you remove fade-in/outs and the intro it's well over 50%, but will they still treat this as too liberal? (Oh yeah, as for the name, it's the japanese equivalent of the move rain dance. Unfortunately the OCR hosting thing doesn't show Japanese characters- it's this: あまごい or amagoi)
  16. Don't worry, I completely understand what you're saying. Yeah it is my music, but I was unsure on whether or not it would make OCR so you're right to criticize! I changed a few more things production-wise (drums most noticably) however the biggest addition is the final climatic section focusing on the "Walking Theme". Also I've slipped in a reference to route 10 which should bump up the explicit source some more. Seems to end nicer too actually. The only problem I have is that I'm not too sure on the overall production of the final sections now I've worked on it so long... After you've worked on a mix for a while everything just seems to sound 'messy'. I should really wait 'till the morning to post this so I can check the EQ afresh, but forget it, I might as well do it now. If there's anything glaringly wrong, put it down to doing this a half three in the morning. ^___^ (Oh yeah, sorry to sound really picky Drumultima- you've helped me a lot here but: It's not, it's section B of the "Walking Theme". Just so y'know!)
  17. Thanks guys. That's cleared it up. ^___^ It's been nagging at me for a while now, especially as I'm an FL user and the rest of the commercial world seems to deny it exists. I hope the day where FL becomes popular comes soon, I really like the interface compared to other DAWs.
  18. Well I just voted. Gario was right, when it came to it, it was really difficult to choose.
  19. This is just a question out of curiosity. I was in WHSmith (do they have them in other places but england?) and was browsing the 'music' section of the magazine collection. They had stuff on Cubase, Pro Tools, Reason, all that lot but ZILCH on FL. Nothing. Not even the general music tech magazines covered the thing. I've used all those other DAWs and found FL to be the best. Why are they so damn popular? Even the course I'm doing at university has all the DAWs but FL (and Reaper, that's meant to be awesome too). Is it just not good in industry? And why?!
  20. I dunno, it's when you compare it to other people's that you start to hate your own...
  21. It doesn't bother me at all, I actually really liked this. Only problem is I dunno whether or not I could actually help out. ^__^
  22. Thanks guys, it's awesome you're digging this! ^o^ It's a tiny, tiny update. Basically I've messed about with the EQ a lil', tried to give it more 'presence' overall and put in a few melodic changes. The drums have been altered to DrumUltima's will, I also changed the rhythms a bit and from :36 to :49 we get the complete second section of Route 1. However,it's harder than you think to get more source in! Seriously I have written so many extra parts to this it's annoying; none of them seem to fit. Adding in an extra section kinda ruins the flow. I can fit "Route 10" into it quite nicely actually, however will adding more source add to the 50% or just generate more problems?
  23. http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/ Just try out some of the stuff on there. Squidfont is proabably the best, free orchestral soundfont out there but it needs some tweaking to use. All of them on there are pretty good, so check 'em out. ^___^ (The sax is nice on that too actually) Just remember when using them you need to tweak the sounds to get the full potential from them. I usually take off some of the higher range EQ (it seems to give this "recorded quality" that makes the sounds more believable) and put a little bit of reverb on, but it really depends on each instrument. Oh yeah, this is a very good GM soundfont too. http://soundfonts.homemusician.net/collections_soundfonts/airfont_340.html Harmonica on that is sweet. Other than that, maybe anyone else has any suggestions?
  24. Compositionally it's quite nice really. I mean, it varies from the source and has some originality and creativity in it. Your main problem is the samples used... That'll be big problem with the peice as there's better samples out there for free. Piano bit was cool- sax was very fake. ^o^ You should try adding a lil' reverb too, it sounds a bit dry. However it all depends on what you used to write this... Apart from that, looking forward to the finished piece, I like Rainbow Road- on all the Mario Karts actually. (Also Rapidshare was annoying- couldn't you just upload to this? It's much easier to access)
  25. Metroid would definitely make the best movie by far. Lots of material and backstory. (Although it may just turn out to be a medicore Sci-Fi...) Zelda wouldn't have much story to go on seeing as the plots are essentially linear. And Megaman? Really?
