  1. Well, it seems like a great two tunes to mix together, the MM1 song has potential for being a great partner. A lot of things sound as though they're off key. It's hard to use the word 'lead' when several things are the same volume since I may be identifying the wrong one, but the 'lead' synth seems to be dancing around without much melody to it. It becomes particularly strange around 1:50 for a few seconds. I can hear a good song in here, and I love Wave Man's theme to death, though it's a bit hard to find and focus on here. The guitar (bass guitar?) in the background that brings itself out more later is a good fit for that source, in fact. I'll be looking forward to your updates.
  2. Well it sounds real good. The first thing, is that the already-accepted remixes of this song either had no vocals, re-recorded vocals, and there is one which had a special pass to use the original track. They may be okay with that, but they may not. Consider finding another source. The changing styles REALLY helps this song, don't consider it a weakness, too many workshop remixes don't go anywhere once they start with a sound. Will it be longer, or are you just working on an ending for that spot? So far it's great. -edit- Oh, and also, I'm getting a lot more action out of the left than the right, but that may just be my ears. If everything is already equal, then disregard that.
  3. This is great. I don't have any technical knowledge of these things, but I think they may want higher quality drum sounds, they don't seem like they're the best you can get, or maybe not the best fit for this kind of song.
  4. A guitar lead shouldn't be a problem, since it would be taking the role of the vocals, not the original guitar.
  5. I've never heard anything from FFXI, so I'm just going in ignorant on that one and considering anything that's not DKC in here an improvisation, since even hearing the source I'll have no attachment to it anyways. Not sure why I brought this up, just broadcasting that it sounds great even if one's not familiar with one half. I'd be in no way disappointed getting this off the front page.
  6. I like thunder in the beginning. Despite this being the most recently updated version (I didn't read the whole thread) I feel like I'm getting ever so slightly more chimes (? main melody) on the right than on the left. Great track, though.
  7. I think you're right about arrangement being pretty much done, though I wouldn't say no to a second theme from the game happening around 2:00, it already sounds like there's a hint of something. Her song is normally meant to go pretty slowly obviously, and especially around :50, the guitar could maybe do something with the empty pockets there. But I'm no expert. You're also mostly right about the instruments too, but it still sounds great. I was pretty unsure about this when I read the title, but I'm digging it.
  8. Normally I'd be bothered by the fairy voice being included in every Zelda dubstep remix, similar to what's discussed in the other one on this board right now, which is already in the Underworld mix linked in here. However, it's one of the foundations here and really well used. Great track, I agree with pretty much everything above poster said as well. Oh, and why isn't it downloadable? Not nice!
  9. I actually don't hate that choir sound, it fits a 'cold' feeling really nicely, since Best Is Yet To Come will usually be associated with the snowy Alaska setting. I have no familiarity with Assassin's Creed music, so anything from that just sounded like improvisation to me, which I like a lot.
  10. So we are going instrumental? That's good, but you need something strong in front handling the melody, the drums are still owning the whole track.
  11. There are those songs that we all have seen remixed dozens of times, and we think 'ugh this again' even though it's a great track. These songs are all so recognized around here by now, that I was thinking we need one remix, with several of the stars- Red Soil Area vs. Wily Stage 1 vs. J.E.N.O.V.A. vs. Chemical Plant Zone vs. Gerudo Valley I for one would enjoy a song like that. A lot. Sorry if it's been brought up, never been to the request board.
  12. Needs rhythm guitar. Bad. But everything else is great, give whoever is on bass a high-five.
  13. I'd say you should add a sizeable, fast-paced, totally improvised original solo in around 1:14, just after the choir section. It's begging to be longer, but since looping would be kind of weak, that's the ticket. These guys at this site really like adding original content to the songs anyways, and there is no better example of that than a killer solo.
  14. The OCR judges usually look for the song structure to be played with, so that the mixes aren't just the original song but with different instruments. The quality is pretty good, but try adding some improvised sections.
  15. I think at the moment that the drums are too much louder than everything else, or at least stand out too much. Nothing besides them is getting any spotlight. Are you going to go with vocals? They won't allow the originals, even if they're edited, so I don't know if I'd recommend using any at all... projects with fan vocals, even if the source has them prominently, are very risky. It's the melody most people like, not the words.
  16. In the first few seconds, all I could think of was the Forest Temple in Ocarina. It has a creepy atmosphere too.
  17. My only strong point would how the choir sounds, as was said, it's very MIDI-ish. Also, for me personally, I'd love the title to just be "The Hand That Beats", because it would sound like a play off of the NIN song "The Hand That Feeds".
  18. How come I can't download it from there? I'd really like to keep this. It's likely to be accepted, but not for awhile... I'd love to be able to listen to it any time.
  19. What are the vocal clips from? I couldn't make them out. Love the song. Edit: Well at around 3:30 it becomes clear. Are they all from the movie?
  20. My headphones aren't the greatest, but can the bass dig in any deeper? Or has it been increased too much already? That one is usually the one I use to see how my different headphones do. Not that it's the best bass, but I like the song and it has lots of sounds.
  21. Outstanding track. It wouldn't seem out of place to me on the front page. Shame it didn't make it to Back In Blue in time, but it might stand better as its own.
