they ARE samples?! Wow...i had entertained the possibility cuz i thought there were a couple times the sax coulda slurred some notes instead of it being so staccato...but man. wow. where does one find samples such as these?

WOW. Easily one of the best remixes on this site. This sounds like music from a deleted scene of The Blues Brothers. At first I was a bit skeptical (as I was when I first saw The Blues Brothers). But after the first time I realized, wow, something amazing just happened here. The second time around I noticed my foot was tapping and my head was bobbing the entire time. Dig.

how can you help but not smile when you listen to this? in any mood, this does it to me. in a good mood i jump around, in a tired worn-out mood, it still draws the corner of my mouth up in a half-smile. groovy

djp should've gone the extra mile and added "in D" to the end. i like the mellowness of the piece - it's peaceful, yet melancholy solemnity embodies the somber aspect of the zelda legacy. or looking at it from another perspective, it captures the tragedy of ganon (assuming there is any) - - ganondorf, who we assume was once good, has been marred by the desire for power...or something like that... okay..maybe the piece doesn't lend itself to that at all - i was just trying to come up with something unique.. anyway - the blend of the melodies, instruments, harmonies - very well done. i hope to be able to do half as well as this someday.

I totally dig the mellow style of this mix. It's simple, ambient, and very nice to chill to. Keep it up, bro.

Wow - a remix that stands out for a number of reasons. a) based on an obscure game no samples used c) real electric guitar (no MIDI!) Well hey, three's a number, right? Anyway, this remix captures the spirit of the game. Personally, when I played it, I had no idea as to what the backstory was or why I should care for the character. What hooked me was the music, the challenge, and the mystique of the setting (I couldn't ever figure it out, but it seemed to be akin to Conan the Barbarian). Also it being one of the first games (in my recollection) to use multi-level backgrounds caught me eye - not cuz I knew what it was, but because it just looked cool. ANYWAY - - - the remix. It starts off soft - to me that reminds me of how I started off in the game - getting used to the controls. But then, after the build-up, K.Pras fires off a round of musical hellfire that covers the field, and I am now confident in my gaming and quest. I finally figure out what the heck "Attack and Assail" mean and can power up my weapon. The drum lick kicks in on the riff and I'm stoked - pulverizing the bad guys...then it begins to fade...I realize you can't save the game...you have to get it all at once...so the piano accompanies my nintendo on pause as I go get a drink of water...then back in the action! Another perspective, this remix would be awesome as music in a video game. When I hear it, I think of hardcore strong guy with diskarmor scaling a mountain while killing monsters. Schmeh, maybe it's just me.

This is one of the best remixes I have heard on this site. I don't think the vocal bits are randomly placed at all. The first time I listened to it was late at night so I had it turned down a little in consideration of the child downstairs. When I first heard the manic yelling, I was like, what the-? Then the next day I popped it into my car player and was like, "HAHAHA!! That's Daffy Duck!!" And I could finally hear the whole piece as I would assume it's meant to be - LOUD. This piece is clever and by all rights original. When you think it's over...ah! Someone sprinkles some Fenix Down and the battle continues! 4 Stars and a peace sign from the 'Shroom!

Link's shadow in Zelda II. Hard as nuts. Easiest boss? Or most disappointing? Ganon at the end of Ocarina of Time. Just roll between his legs and literally hack his tail off. And who cares if he whops the Master Sword beyond the fire? Just use the Goron Sword and slice him up! That ten foot masterpiece forged by a living rock did more damage than the supposed mystical weapon of legend ever could!

This is a pretty sweet remix of such a primal tune. Basically, it's an 8-bit remix of an 8-bit game. Especially for a first submission, it rocks my face off. I look forward to more!
