OCRA-0013 - Tales: Summoning of Spirits
KyleJCrb replied to KyleJCrb's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
Chaotic Heart was one that in retrospect, I feel I should've said "Hey Sixto, can you plug a real ending into that one?" Still though, it is one of my personal top favorites on the album, simply because it takes the original and runs with it in a direction that I didn't expect, and also goes a different way from what we usually hear from Sixto. It reminds me of some of the more deliberately paced tracks from guys like Vai or Satriani, where the point is to show off the chops of the guitarist. Probably helps that Raine is my favorite character in Symphonia too, and this remix is quite fitting for her. -
Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes killed (C&D story not proven)
KyleJCrb replied to Kiyobi's topic in General Discussion
The number on the footer of the letter IS a legitimate SquareEnix contact number for their North American PR department. Thing is though, why would a legal letter have a phone number for their PR department? Maybe the legal department can't afford its own stationery... -
Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes killed (C&D story not proven)
KyleJCrb replied to Kiyobi's topic in General Discussion
Not sure how that proves anything. I have nothing against Zeality, the romhack, or Chrono Compendium, but the evidence against this being a legitimate C&D order is pretty overt. Here's something interesting; A German forum copied a post from the romhacking.net thread that was deleted, mentioning a few of the key differences between the letter received by the Crimson Echoes team and the one sent to Chrono Resurrection. -
Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes killed (C&D story not proven)
KyleJCrb replied to Kiyobi's topic in General Discussion
No, I'm pretty sure that actually happened. -
Actually, I think something like this would be quite cool. Done in a traditional country/bluegrass style obviously, not mimicking the awful modern pop country crap that's around these days. Though I think it would be more interesting not to take songs already in the country style (as you suggested). Rather, remix themes that aren't usually thought of as being in that style, like Mega Man 2 Wily Stage, for example. Hmmm...

Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes killed (C&D story not proven)
KyleJCrb replied to Kiyobi's topic in General Discussion
For the curious, here was the letter submitted to the Chrono Resurrection team. It was NOT sent by SquareEnix themselves, but by the law firm that represents them in North America. If the order sent to the Crimson Echoes team were legitimate, it would be extremely similar to the one sent to Chrono Resurrection, but it isn't. It's rare that a company will directly send a C&D order anyway (they will typically make their legal representation do it), which is why this whole thing seems very fishy. -

Most likely. The terminology used in that letter is not even the correct type generally used in legitimate C&D letters. It is far too unprofessional. EDIT: Yup, pretty much confirmed to be a fraud. http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,8582.msg134196.html#msg134196 -
Yup, for the price it's practically a steal. They will also transfer any existing site you have at no cost. It's a really great service.

Best rock-oriented game soundtrack...
KyleJCrb replied to SwordBreaker's topic in General Discussion
SNES Super Offroad, composed by the Follin Bros. was definitely a great rock soundtrack for its time. -
I know it's been mentioned before, but I forget: What does it mean?

Ah, abusing my power as a moderator of the Site Projects forum. THAT is the entire reason I created a project. Actually, I didn't anticipate that reaction at all. I think DarkeSword was pretty angry with me that day, but it was oh so worth it. GrayLightning and I were laughing so hard on AIM.

That is true; he doesn't seem to drop the gratuitous strings of swears as often anymore. He is still rude and crude, but it's less ludicrous these days. Those who didn't like his strings of "FUCKSHITFUCKBALLSFUCKFARTSFUCKFUCKFUCKITYFUCKFUCK" will probably find the new videos much better. (Well, except maybe the Odyssey review with "Nerdy Turd"...) Regardless though, the Nerd rules. On the flip side: Interesting that nobody has mentioned The Nostalgia Critic. He doesn't do games (except for Bebe's Kids), but that doesn't make him any less awesome. Linkara and his bad comic review show Atop The Fourth Wall is great as well, even if you're not into comics.

Very true. Even if it were just a mod using the Source and Havok engines (something that the fans are using effectively with the GoldenEye remake) it could really be a great game. Maybe a team can get together and make it happen. And OCR doing the music would be excellent.

Somehow I remembered this thread despite it being posted over a year ago, and I found that someone has actually fulfilled this request on the Sonic Remixed 08 album I just found out about: http://www.myspace.com/sonicremixed

He didn't compose that. It was Fumie Kumatani. http://vgmdb.net/album/1643 -

Team Aquarius was the best.

Avid fan of the AVGN; his work on the Nerd as well as his movie reviews and homemade movies are great. As sephfire mentioned, Spoony is also awesome; his Final Fantasy VIII rants are hilarious and spot-on every time.

Congrats to Showroom Dummy for getting a ToS song NOT from this project accepted by OCR. Nice work, d00d!
