This is a really nice arrangement, the harmonies/melodies you added are beautiful!
Great humanization too. Everything flows really well and there's good variation in the velocities.
The only thing I'd change is to make the crescendo at the end a bit more obvious. It doesn't quite feel like it's building up as much as it should.
Also, is it just me or do the high notes between 0:10 and 0:17 sound kind of muffled? None of the other notes in the song sound quite like that to me...

To me, the kickstarter is a non-issue. If you have doubts about where the extra money goes, don't donate. Seems pretty simple.
Exactly. Obviously this would be a much bigger deal if you were forced to pay for it.

I'm only familiar with the Valkyrie Profile games but I love those soundtracks (As you probably know from your tri-fecta thread ).

I just sent you a PM and then read the first post...which clearly states not to do so until July 17 XD.
Sorry!

Shh...guys, we'll scare everyone away!

Oh good, for a minute there I thought I was going to have to go through the legal system every time I wanted to record something.
On a more serious note, I took a look at the guide and I think it's pretty good. It's more of an overview than a comprehensive guide, but it seems like that's what you're going for. My only concern is that it might be difficult for a "newb" to piece together all the bits of information since there are a lot of individual sections that, while fine on their own, are kind of all over the place (Recording coming after mixing and output for instance). Then again, maybe not...either way I think re-arranging the sections would make it easier to read.
Some instruments and other audio tracks (like vocals) will be uneven. There will be soft parts and loud parts, and you might not want to go in and edit the volume for the whole track. What do you do? You apply a compressor that'll make the soft parts louder but not change the loud parts.Isn't it the other way around? Or have I been thinking about it the wrong way this whole time?
I also found a few typos:
Drums are usually the instrument getting layered, since fat beats need fat sounds. The classic example of drums layering would be to combine a bass drum with punch and click with a bass drum with lots of low frequencies (aka bass).
The audio interface can come in a lot of different forms. Some simple ones have an input, an output, and connect by usb. Others can be built into mixing desks and feature dozens of inputs and quite a number of outputs as well. SOme will say an audio interface is the same as a soundcard, tho I go by the distinction that the soundcard is inside your computer, while an audio interface is only connected to the machine (by usb, firewire, or other means).

Wow, this sounds really cool. I know there are more novices than stars at this point, but if there's an open slot in the future I'd love to do this.

Congrats on getting posted!
This has a really neat style. Good job!

So...this album doesn't have nearly as much metal as it was made out to .
It's totally awesome though! Definitely lives up to my expectations.
A few of the tracks feel like they're completely out of place (lol Josh Welchel) but they're so good that it doesn't matter .
Good job guys. I'm going to be listening to this for a while.
-
You make some reeeally awesome stuff.
Yeah, this.
That gunblade is amazing!
-
Yay!
I'm listening to the posted mixes while it downloads and they're great! The rest of the album is sure to be just as good.

New update sounds great.
I love the name too. Good idea Mirby .

This has always confused me. Now, is she a dragon who avenges, or one who avenges the dragons? Or does she avenge against the acts of dragons?
Haha I never realized there were so many possible interpretations.
I actually always though it was #3 for some reason...

Well this thread makes me wish I knew her .

Nice one!
The guitars sound a lot thicker now. I like it!
I'm not sure what you mean by the timing being off for the solos; it sounds pretty on time to me but maybe I'm just not hearing it?
I'm actually not a big fan of the new synth at 2:00. It sounds a bit too...bubbly for a lead. I dunno.
The chords are less boring now that you've added some rhythmic changes but I'd still like to see more variation in terms of the actual chords. It's up to you though.
-
Personally I prefer the old key but that's probably just because I'm used to it.
The humanization and stuff sounds really nice in this version though .
The only distortion related thing I'm hearing is a pop in my left ear at 2:38. You might want to fix that before you submit it.
Good luck on the panel!

Oh my god yes! I can't wait .
-
Aw, that's too bad.
I know what you mean though. The sources are fantastic!

Seeing as I participated in the Seiken Densetu 3 project, I may as well help out with this one too, if there's any tracks left
Sure!
The tracklist is up to date so you can take a look at what's left.
PM me if there's something you're interested in .

Thanks! I know there's quite a lot of repetition, but that sort of carried over from the original (despite my best efforts). That said, I sort of had my work cut out for me when I chose to have 5 pianos. It exhausts most ideas sort of quickly (hence the solo piano part in the middle of the piece).
Aha, quite true. I can imagine that would be pretty frustrating XD.
Also, I'd just like to say thank you for the feedback you've been giving since I posted this. It's been really helpful and I think that the remix is a lot better as a result.
Hey, no problem. I like the piece so I'm glad I could help!
-
Very nice .
I'd still like to hear more arrangement in the last section though. I know you've changed what some of the hands are doing but I still think it feels too repetitive. Some melody changes and/or phrase extensions would sound really nice I think.
Great job overall though!
-
Wow, this is pretty cool! I knew it was going to be awesome as soon as I heard those drums at the beginning
I don't think the lead line is repetitive at all, the inversions and stuff at the end help keep things fresh. The chords do get kind of boring after a while though. It might be nice to change them up a little.
I'm not really sure what to say production-wise but yeah, I like it.

Congrats on getting posted Mokram!
Love this track, and it goes so well with the rest of the album despite being very different stylistically.

This sounds great, I'm really looking forward to the final mix!
I want to offer to play whistle for you but unfortunately I'd need an F which I don't have...
