  1. The only problem with liscencing the music is that it will no longer be free for download, right?

The major difference between kickstarter and PayPal is that the former is more public and interactive, which is a double edge sword as you can see. If OCR did something similar but used PayPal, there won't be as much rewards, success or attention but it would be less likely to get shut down.

I don't think licensing means that you have to sell it, just that you have the rights to distribute it.

  2. I didn't like the orchestral VSTs. It deserves some better orchestral synths IMO.

Agreed. They sound very synthesized. If you aren't able to get some better samples I'd recommend asking someone if they'd be interested in collabing with you. You might have some luck if you post on the Recruit and Collaborate forum, there are some people around here with great sample libraries.

The guitar playing is awesome though!

I'm not having any trouble hearing the bass, although a boost wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'm not particularly keen on the orchestral intro (even though it's short). I just don't really think that riff works with those instruments.

Other than that, I really like the arrangement!

  3. I think because there's been speculation that people have taken as fact, and staff wants to avoid that.

Then again, now I'm speculating about why they don't want people speculating. Someone should speculate about why I'm doing this just for the lulz.

I think Mirby might be speculating because Square Enix has taken control of her mind as part of their plans to dominate the earth through yet another re-release of Final Fantasy IV.

  4. I'm curious if it would be possible to include FLAC in the official torrents. I understand why you wouldn't want to host FLAC on your servers, as well as not all songs being available in FLAC. Can't you start with a FLAC policy "from this point on", however, and release what you already have in FLAC as well?

I can understand an MP3 only policy in the early 2000s, but HDD space and internet speeds today shouldn't get in the way of having it as a superior alternative. You already release official albums in FLAC (or WAV).

If I remember correctly, LT was collecting WAVs/FLACs from any remixers who have them for inclusion in the torrent, so at least some mixes should have them when this finally comes out.

  5. Well, it's more a guide than a tutorial. For length reasons, and the fact that there's a whole lot of DAWs out there, I can't go into DAW-specific stuff. Is it any good, tho?

What I meant by that is that it's not as comprehensive as a guide that focuses on just one of the topics you cover. As a starting point though I think it's pretty good.

And yeah, it makes sense that you don't go into DAW specific stuff. It's nice to see something like this that doesn't use FL Studio or whatever as an example.

The poor placement of the recording chapter stem from it being written later than the other chapters. My reasoning was that not everybody will need to know how to record, and those that do should still start with learning the other stuff. On the other hand, if I went strictly by that reasoning, the chapters on waveforms and synths are the ones poorly placed. Where would you prefer to find it?

Eh, now that I go back and take another look I think it's probably fine. Actually I'm not really sure what I was talking about XD.

  6. Hey guys,

I've googled this several times and have been unable to find an answer.

I'm trying to have my electric guitars fade out into an acoustic section, but everything I try sounds like shit, they really muddy things up.

I'm working in Reaper and I've tried using the volume envelope, as well as editing the files in Audacity, but have not been able to produce any results that I'm happy with.

Does anyone have any tips for doing things like this? Is there a special way to do it? I've heard plenty of songs that do it well, but I don't know how...

  7. I haven't play Golden Sun but I hear that the soundtrack is awesome.

Motoi Soundtracks in the order I heard them.

    Star Ocean 2

    Valkyrie Profile

    Baten Kaitos

    Star Ocean 3

    Valkyrie Profile 2

    Radiata Stories

    Eternal Sonata

    Star Ocean 4

    Resonance of Fate

If you guys haven't heard CHIPP's Valkyrie Profile remix yet...you have to, it's amazing.

  8. Thank you!!

This was getting no love. I was wondering if i wasted my time. :???:

I forgot to mention that some of those sound clips were reactions to people playing slender. Mostly screams but one guy was singing.

Haha, really? That's hilarious and awesome! I was wondering what they were actually...

I wanted to try doing something ambient but I think next time i do a horror piece it should be, you know, legitimate music. :<

Think i should run this at the judges? anyone?

Lol, isn't it more of an "Inspired by" piece than a remix?

Ambient pieces like this have a hard time getting past the judges from what I understand :(

I'd definitely encourage you to do something with another source though. Amnesia and Silent Hill have great soundtracks!
