  1. The choice to have A = 440hz is really just an arbitrary one and also one that is highly variable both by region and choice. (In fact even defining it by frequency like that is something from the last 100 years or so).

If you're recording with an Eastern European orchestra, you will indicate to them how you want your tuning--or they will indicate to you what their tuning is and you will have to compensate on whatever accompanying tracks or synths you might be mixing with later on.

The Western Scale as a relative relationship between pitches is not arbitrary, which frequency you start your pitch on IS arbitrary and not universal by a margin.

Alright, that clears a bit up on what I was thinking. big thanks!

  2. I'd say the tape playback but if it's the same on CDs well;

It could be tuning... Maybe they tuned to 442hz ?

I tuned to 432hz for some acoustic tunes resulting in 1/3 of a tone lower.

442hz is "A 4" yes? I thought it was 440..... man screw it, I got a chart for it..... and everything else I dont feel like I seriously need to engrave in my memory.

  3. Awesome, yeah the more the merrier! I just checked out some of your stuff on soundcloud too and it's pretty good. You should come around here more often! :-D

As for the themed stuff, yeah I have pretty much all the guidelines in place now. As for themes to include... any "zone" theme (i.e., Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plan Zone, Crisis City, Speed Highway, etc.) from a core Sonic platformer game is allowed. Sorry, no boss themes, special stages, or menu/title themes. Both Sonic CD soundtracks (as well as both Sonic 3D Blast soundtracks) will be allowed. When I start the official compo thread in the Competitions forums on April 14th, all the details will be clearly laid out.

I'm not sure I understand half of what you just said, but yeah awesome!

Will it be by braket or how will the matches be arranged?

  4. Ok, tomorrow I'm going to knock on their doors, perhaps they are willing to answer my questions

No, seriously, I want to know what's going on there too... I'm too curious.

Yes indeed, it looks so awsome!

And thankyou darke for the link add.

  5. I've never heard of it.

But just because it's made in the same city as ableton doesn't mean that it's going to be anything like ableton... heck, I live 20 minutes away from where Adam Young makes music and I don't make anything remotely synth-pop-y.

    just saiyan

I understand that part, but im thinking that some of there developers have came to a seperate team or devision.

  6. I started hearing alot of info about the new DAW, but now everything seems quiet!

One thing I know is that it looks alot like ableton...Hell Ableton and Bitwig are both being developed in berlin germany so it maybe an ableton version aimed more at music production and workflow :o????

Im on there newsletter and I dont have a single email from them aswell. I cant wait for the beta but could someone fill me in please!
