I totally forgot about the no OCReMix rule! I'll remember that for next time. Glad it worked out this time. Fun coincidence on the ff8 mixes though!
Who is allowed to remix this round by the way?
-
That was a fun round, congrats to Esperado!
ohh and Bundeslang, U totally called it. I made the song as if it was meant for Megaman X Sigma stages, but instead of submitting it in the MMX soundfonts. I just gave it the modernized treatment.
Thanks! so many entries this week. like i said, nice job on the boss theme concept mike!

Forgot to mention that my source is the columns 3 - classic theme !

No pics for this.
I'm still in need of a computer. Maybe it'll be a Christmas miracle but i doubt it. No matter building it my way is actually pretty damn fun.
I think Esperado decided to wait until i sent my gift to see what he could send me. I gotta tell you, that was a risk. For all he knew i could be someone who utterly hated tea.
But the fact of the matter is, i love tea. And i've wanted to go loose leaf for so long it isnt funny. But i've never had the chance to experiment.
I spent a long day shopping for the last gifts on my list. i came home to see the door open a crack...normally that doesnt happen. So i hop in the side door and head through that passageway heading into the house and opening the front door and i see an Amazon box.
Opening it i find Heavenly Tea... Loose Leaf tea sampler. Esperado, thank you so much. Your gamble was right on the money. =)
Glad you like it! i was worried that i might have gotten a flavor that you might not enjoy, people can be so picky about tea! otherwise i saw that you had mentioned loose leaf at some point.

more will come I'm sure! I'm amped up to submit one final mix of the year! hopefully it'll be my best so far.

Nice Identity Sequence wallpaper. I use that one too.

At this point, now I want to know how to join OCR's deviantART group. I looked for the join button but could not find it.* Give me a character, a reference, or a summary of the character, and I can finish it in an hour (two hours max).
*I'd like to apologize if I come off as a pest to anyone/everyone because that is not my intention.
Im a really bad admin sometimes, Ill add you asap if the other admins haven't already!
As the holidays die down hopefully there will be time for some competitions or scheduled projects within the group! Sorry to anyone who has looking forward to a more active group so far, Ive just been to busy to organize anything hopefully 2015 will be a better year ! that said, anyone wanting to help out, or anyone with ideas for compos or projects, feel free to chime in!
Also a big thanks to all those who have chimed in/helped out already!

So I've more or less taken 2014 off from serious music making for various reasons, but the most significant being that I've felt considerable doubt in my musical work, and was thus drawn to other art forms that I'm better at (photography).
Upon reflection I think my work has suffered from two things: first a lack of understanding the musical language. I feel i need to learn music theory if i am to improve. Secondly, I need to improve my ear, so as to be able to take an idea and understand what notes and sounds I'm hearing in my head. Remixing would also be easier as i would no longer NEED midi stems like i do now.
So Tldr, What are some learning resources that you may have to study music theory, and/or ear training? as usual, i don't mind if its an app, a book, a website, anything really, even personal tips help.

Seems silly that they wouldn't do it. Berkeley has online courses that are supposed to be pretty nice, Although they are pretty spendy

much excite! I love the anniversary rounds and all the fun data that you compile with them bundeslang! Your dedication to this compo is really appreciated! (even if i don't participate all the time) Heres to another year of awesome rounds!
-
oh crap, didn't realize that there is actually 2 entries all of a sudden. Musta been last minute. I'll have to close the round sadly. Sorry Esperado. Getting the voting stage set up now.
totally cool! there'll always be more rounds
-
I'll give this 1 more extension. I may just throw in my own submission.
when the new deadline then?
-
Extended to the 30th @ 2PM
Excuses do not make for success, but Im totally not gonna be able to sub what I've got, the holiday got a bit more in the way than I thought.
-
crikey, an extension? perhaps there is still time for a turkey fueled remix!
-
count me in, last year was fun!

Well, it's not really the same. It's a port designed to hold that kind of bandwidth, so the total input capability isn't listed dishonestly.
In order to actually use that port, though, I need to have a device that connects to it like that, and they just happen to sell such multi-in rack devices. It's kinda like saying "That sucks that you have to buy another graphics card to SLI them". Well... yes, but if that's what you want, the capability is there.
As long as it's economical to have to tack on more cash to an interface that's already pricey
-
Still this. *sigh*
At least you're not a victim of gear lust. That's super dumb that you have to pay to get more i/o out of a peice of pricey gear neblix. In app purchases for gear I guess haha
-
Current space. Really cramped, uncomfortable, and I have a roommate (really bad for personal reasons), and honestly, being able to fit my piano in here was a miracle. But the important part is I have everything
-Focusrite Scarlett 18i20
Why so many inputs and outputs for such a small room? Could be real useful if you decide to do any drum mic stuff I guess. Seems like overkill for general production though.

We will almost certainly _not_ be coming this year, since we are moving over the holiday break (from Minneapolis MN to West Lafayette IN). Indiana does put us within driving distance though, so I am hoping to see many of you for Otakon instead this year.
Couldnt handle the winters?

So I think I've got a remix here thats worth fixing up into a proper ReMix. Its a downtempo remix of Water Goddess Mitula from the Shining force OST. I made it for the previous MNP compo round, and ended up submitting it to Shining Force II 20th Anniversary Mix Drive over on Radiosega as well.
anyways, heres the goodies!
-
This might be interesting in 3/4 or 6/8 . Just in case I don't have time to enter, it's an idea for people.
-
Let's talk tuned drums!
What, if anything do you guys do in relation to pitch shifting percussion samples to fit them in a mix better?
Why do I ask? Well, I once read that sometimes it works well to tune your kick to your basslines. I'm curious as to how tuning relates to snares, hats or other percussion. I'm particularly curious if this is relevant to layering as well. for example: you could layer two snares and either try to tune them to the same note or perhaps tune them an octave apart. Both would sound different.

For anyone busing from Reagan airport, take the yellow line from the airport to le'enfant station , then transfer to the green line. Take the green line to branch ave and from there you just take the nh1 to national harbor.
P.s. I'm here! Also I just realized the national harbor thread covered this info already. Sorry!
