  1. No pics for this.

I'm still in need of a computer. Maybe it'll be a Christmas miracle but i doubt it. No matter building it my way is actually pretty damn fun.

I think Esperado decided to wait until i sent my gift to see what he could send me. I gotta tell you, that was a risk. For all he knew i could be someone who utterly hated tea.

But the fact of the matter is, i love tea. And i've wanted to go loose leaf for so long it isnt funny. But i've never had the chance to experiment.

I spent a long day shopping for the last gifts on my list. i came home to see the door open a crack...normally that doesnt happen. So i hop in the side door and head through that passageway heading into the house and opening the front door and i see an Amazon box.

Opening it i find Heavenly Tea... Loose Leaf tea sampler. Esperado, thank you so much. Your gamble was right on the money. =)

Glad you like it! i was worried that i might have gotten a flavor that you might not enjoy, people can be so picky about tea! otherwise i saw that you had mentioned loose leaf at some point.

  2. At this point, now I want to know how to join OCR's deviantART group. I looked for the join button but could not find it.* Give me a character, a reference, or a summary of the character, and I can finish it in an hour (two hours max).

*I'd like to apologize if I come off as a pest to anyone/everyone because that is not my intention.

Im a really bad admin sometimes, Ill add you asap if the other admins haven't already!

As the holidays die down hopefully there will be time for some competitions or scheduled projects within the group! Sorry to anyone who has looking forward to a more active group so far, Ive just been to busy to organize anything hopefully 2015 will be a better year ! that said, anyone wanting to help out, or anyone with ideas for compos or projects, feel free to chime in!

Also a big thanks to all those who have chimed in/helped out already!

  3. So I've more or less taken 2014 off from serious music making for various reasons, but the most significant being that I've felt considerable doubt in my musical work, and was thus drawn to other art forms that I'm better at (photography).

Upon reflection I think my work has suffered from two things: first a lack of understanding the musical language. I feel i need to learn music theory if i am to improve. Secondly, I need to improve my ear, so as to be able to take an idea and understand what notes and sounds I'm hearing in my head. Remixing would also be easier as i would no longer NEED midi stems like i do now.

So Tldr, What are some learning resources that you may have to study music theory, and/or ear training? as usual, i don't mind if its an app, a book, a website, anything really, even personal tips help.

  4. Well, it's not really the same. It's a port designed to hold that kind of bandwidth, so the total input capability isn't listed dishonestly.

In order to actually use that port, though, I need to have a device that connects to it like that, and they just happen to sell such multi-in rack devices. It's kinda like saying "That sucks that you have to buy another graphics card to SLI them". Well... yes, but if that's what you want, the capability is there.

As long as it's economical to have to tack on more cash to an interface that's already pricey

  5. Current space. Really cramped, uncomfortable, and I have a roommate (really bad for personal reasons), and honestly, being able to fit my piano in here was a miracle. But the important part is I have everything

Why so many inputs and outputs for such a small room? Could be real useful if you decide to do any drum mic stuff I guess. Seems like overkill for general production though.

  6. Let's talk tuned drums!

What, if anything do you guys do in relation to pitch shifting percussion samples to fit them in a mix better?

Why do I ask? Well, I once read that sometimes it works well to tune your kick to your basslines. I'm curious as to how tuning relates to snares, hats or other percussion. I'm particularly curious if this is relevant to layering as well. for example: you could layer two snares and either try to tune them to the same note or perhaps tune them an octave apart. Both would sound different.
