Tied for second! I didn't expect that. I had so much trouble with my remix, I didn't get any inspiration until the last five days or so. I was not feeling the source this time around, not that the source is bad. I don't really like my entry very much. 
But hey, I'll take second place! 
Lol, I love how the title of the winning mix was "Are You Kidding Me?"
i enjoyed the piece alot. the awkward time signature makes it harder if you ask me (its 3/4 isnt it?)
It inspired me to mess around with making a remix of it, but im getting nowhere with it so far, so i dont blame you!

i have two questions:
1. where do we go to listen to mixes that get voted on but dont pass? I can never seem to find the links to the submissions in the posts, only the source tunes. I suppose its probably a dumb question and i may be posting in the wrong place, but Im unable to figure it out
2. How does remixing a song with vocals work? for example, a song like "great mighty poo" from conkers bad fur day, it would be a pretty average sounding remix without the lyrics. how would a person go about it in a manner that can be submitted according to the rules?

Also, anyone else find the last half of this week's lectures to be kind of boring? Useful from an academic sense, I suppose, but not that helpful for someone who knows what musical contexts they already do/want to make music in, none of which are traditional Japanese music? Kind of felt like filler to me, possibly because he didn't want to break up the next lecture.
i figure, you can never learn too much music related stuff. even if you dont like traditional japanese music, surely you can learn a bit about it and use the info in some way

i almost forgot about enter the matrix for ps2. I usually write off movie games as sucking, but the more i played the more strange little combos i learned and it eventually got to be a lot of fun to plow through enemies in matrix mode.

anyone else having trouble logging into the classes? the elearning something or other course i took, just makes me log in over and over again.

However you might think of the retro fad, i think it's all part of a valid effort to make people aware of the humble beginnings, the early gems, and how they can inspire modern design.
The severe limitations motivated very interesting artistic choices.
That kind of stuff will prove to be timeless imo.
i think thats why chiptune infused music is becoming more of a thing as well. inspiration from humble beginnings.
I think limitations also spark creativity more than having limitless options. you have to figure out ways to work around your limitations when you have theme, whereas youre just overwhelmed by it when there are none. not to mention, i think a current train of thought among alot of people is that there really are no limits to graphical advancements, so todays equivalent to yesterdays masterpeices, dont really impress people as much. In fact, on some level, i think people expect advancements like that in technology because of how often things get outdated these days.

I just discovered something that's really awesome if you have any hardware synths. Little MIDI Machine is a free app that acts like an old school step sequencer and it works via coreMIDI. I was able to plug my Little Phatty straight into my iPad (via camera kit adapter) and run this app like a classic sequencer. It'll also work over an ad-hoc connection to your computer. For doing Berlin School style jams, this is pretty awesome!
so it runs the midi sequence to the little phatty? like if you set the sequence to play mario, it would make the moog play the mario theme?

well since hailfire peak is open, I'd be interested in giving it a shot. We have pretty good WIP feedback right? It'll probably take me a few iterations of feedback to get there but I think its worth a shot. No better way to improve than to try

thanks for the tips! I'll see what I can come up with. I suppose I shouldnt group it all together, k-pop and j-pop. Theyre likely two distinct genres, I just know nothing about them really so it made it hard to distinguish them.

it would be a pretty epic screensaver if you could make it play the music when the screensaver goes off. i think we go back because its what we grew up on, and it just feels more classic to us. someday when we have VR helmets, kids of today will go" man, i remember the good old days of skyrim, when we didnt need vr graphics.... kids these days and their fancy helmets and their nanokrunkstep music..."

cool to see an mmorpg that isnt entirely based on states and autocombat stuff. i enjoy games where you can "cheat" it a little by taking on beefier enemies if youre good at dodging. I personally think that makes it more engaging and enjoyable. I might give it a try!

looks like a screensaver. i bet this was mindblowing back then though. it actually blows my mind how we've gone from dos graphics to whatever the most mindblowing 3d game is today, in only 20 years. though, i guess thats kinda a long time. makes me feel a bit old, sorta. the music is good though

Im pretty weak with drum patterns. do you think its the pattern itself, or the levels and processing of the drums?
im not sure if its a trait or not, i can try listening to it again a few times to see. overall i enjoy the transitions, but they might be a bit long
