Here's my track!

My original Remix died after a week of work, so with an hour and a half let to remix, i made this. Not bad for such little time. It was a blast! 

I would strongly urge (smack if need be) him to reconsider.
A USB audio interface is far cheaper and smarter than replacing a whole computer that still works. How exactly was he recording beforehand? This may explain the fried soundcard...?
Anyway, if he does get a new laptop (desktop is still lightyears better), any stock PC dual/quadcore laptop with around 8 gigs of RAM is more than enough for rock/metal production as the most taxing plugins usually used are drum VSTis, amp sims and time-based effects. Like, I just went to Best Buy's site and right on the homepage, they have a $499 laptop that meets exactly those specifications... 
 

Im not sure though, since both rounds are live you could be mixing for both rounds at once. Even if the mnp starts before the prc, youd still be doing the majority of the mixing during the appropriate time period. Dunno if ill risk it, but Itd be cool to have such a long mixing period. 

I'm gonna do something unprecedented...ish.  I'm gonna extend this round to Dec 24th.  Why?  Because #reasons.  The compo scene is pretty dead during this time of year anyhow - so may as well extend stuff so (correction: additional) people can find time to enter.  Plus it gives me a chance to enter cuz I'm pretty beat and overworked.  So

Vote Ends: Dec 26 Mon 11 PM

i find my most rushed mixes tend to be the most creative. This one is already shaping up to be a real goofer. Hopefully i can get it polished up by deadline.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it a lot. I'm not stopping PRC yet; only if the upcoming 10 rounds have 10 extensions and <= 10 songs with only 10 votes and 5 default wins by myself I might consider it.
I also don't want to stop remixing unknown sources and start remixing the Ice Cap theme for the 29658th time, since that will be the end of PRC and the start of the BRC (Bundeslang's Remix Competition). We already had someting in the past called the Popular Track Music Competition (only 1 round was done, Terra's Theme).
Some interesting comments are made already, like the point about the length of the contest. Another interesting discussion might be: should PRC and MnP have similar deadlines (so that people can choose between or do both) or have different deadlines so that there's always a possibility to work on a song for one of the contests. I might change the schedule a bit so that deadlines are not at the same date (MnP has a bit longer remixing stage and takes 3 weeks in total on average).
I take this all into account when I set up the poll for the next round.

Make a poll about it, see if you can figure out how to improve participation

Super missiles are your friend; kill them geemers and it makes that portion a breeze.
Honestly, my favorite skip is against the Varia suit. Hard as shit to do, though, and it's not good at all for speed running for me (Get to one room that doesn't kill you, then stock up on health the old fashioned way). I know there are better ways to do it, but whatevs - I'm not looking to get on Speedrun archives anytime soon.
It DOES allow you to get the wave beam and plasma before Kraid, which makes for a hilarious fight against him later.

you need it for a few parts unless youre really good at walljumping, but i agree that its annoying most of the time.

Edit: i just realized the freeze beam is indeed in super metroid. Wtf, better go play it again. 

Forgot to add a comment for Esperado's Bonus.  So I'll do it now.  11/10 super sexy; if "Freezecannon" had a physical manifestation I'd take it out for dinner and do to it like they do on the discovery channel.  It is a feast for the ears with a vibrant atmosphere and tons of reverby love.

Oh, i know why - it was because of the weird, abstract club scene, that had Tim Curry as the "host" - and Dancing Calcobrena has that weird abstract/nightmare feel to it.

P.s> im dissapointed in my decision to put that gate on the intro. It sounds like audio artifacts, but it is in fact a poorly used gate. 

Perhaps i shall submit then. Its what you might call, a sound design experiment
